Our mother was a gifted pianist. As children, we always came home from school to a house filled with music. Debussy was one of her favorite composers, with his hauntingly beautiful pieces. We lost our mom in 2005, but have wonderful memories of her playing the piano; she gave us the gift of music every day. ❤
Thank you for sharing this wonderful memory with others. I just closed my eyes and I can see this lovely house with a happy family filled with this wonderful music. I wish you and your family all the best!

Every time I hear Debussy I picture our old fashioned farmhouse in Maine with its quaint wallpaper and white-painted woodwork and braided rugs. I was 9 years old in 1975 and we had just gotten our first stereo record player with the automatic mechanism that allowed you to stack 6-8 records in queue so you didn’t have to stand by and move the arm at the end of one side. My parents played classical, gospel, hymns, and all the sacred Christmas classics. Every time I hear this music I feel the peace and contentment that still lives in my parents’ house no matter where they live. ❤️❤️❤️
Debussy's music brings a different image to mind for me. It reminds me of Claude Monet's painting "Water Lilly pond": a quiet, secret little hideaway that no one else knows about where you go to remember simpler, better times and get lost in the beauty of nature. If only there was anything produced comparable to that today, but there's not, because real art, art that causes a transcendental experience, died a long time ago.

As mentioned below, Debussy takes me back to my younger years as well as takes me back to a time to which I imagine...of a quaint home with a beautiful garden of flowers in all colors, of green grass, of a lovely water fountain, of open windows with no screens and mesh curtains gently floating in the breeze, house filled with flowers and comfy furniture.
no screens what are you nutz? MONKEE POX AND WELL YOU KNOW THE THING. Not Steve Mcqueen Thing either not... the blob the Thing. now the place is all tagged windows busted out NO SCREENS ? every time I close the window I hit someones fingers.. rough neighborhood.. screens eh You had screens ? so some kinda Aristocrat eh ???
I've been studying to become a surgical technologist, and Debussy has comforted me all throughout my preclinicals. I wont ever forget the feelings of excitement, exhaustion, doubt and love that Claude paints in my mind. Heres to making it through my clinical rotations!
Studying law here and I do ALL my tests listening to Debussy and now it's impregnated in my mind to relax my nerves and focus more. His music has been a blessing, for real. Love that I'm not the only one positively scarred by his music.
For a long time I didn't want to admit I liked Debussy, but thanks to my friends and family's support I was able to come out and tell them I liked Debussy. Now it makes me feel so good, sometimes Debussy is all I can think about.
Most people are good and want nothing of war. Most governments are not good. Instead of agreeing with one another they destroy people, cities and towns. Ukraine should have agreed with Russia and be a good neighbor and avoid all of this chaos.
@@bettiraige3474 they both belong to the impressionist movement , which is based on the contemplation of nature (hence a lot of debussy's song titles referring to nature and all of monet's painting being nature ones)
My goodness. I’m new to listening to Debussy and it’s incredible. He takes you on the most peaceful journey. It reminds me of every happy memory I’ve ever had. That’s the feeling his music envokes.
I have truly loved Debussy for many years. I shared Claire de lune with my late girlfriend Michele before she died. She loved it too. Whenever I listen to Claire de lune my heart aches for my sweet Michele.
Clair de lune was the first piano piece my piano teacher challenged me to learn. It took a while but I finally got it, and along the way opened myself up to Debussy’s amazing library of work.
Grandpa and I lived together in a cozy house in the woods. He was a short, bald and slightly overweight tailor who worked from home. He didn't bother to look good to impress women or men and never got married. His discipline, passion for classic music, and hours of study after work made him into a self-taught pianist. In the occasional instances when I'd shut myself off in my bedroom upstairs, he knew my spirits were low. Like a master, he'd then play Debussy, his favorite composer and mine, for at least half an hour. It's been almost ten years he transitioned into the ethereal dimension. Now, from a distant memory, come the notes that filled the house and reached the small creatures in the surrounding vegetation. Whenever I evoke the image of the movement of his fingers working their magic on the keyboard.
I just come to the conclusion that I love this artist. I watched a lot of elephant videos and there is a man that played classical music for elephants that were 80 years old and blind and actual tears and it was a beautiful thing. So I like the music he was playing
I I loved DeBussy's melodies from the beginning. Melody is my 'thing.' DeBussy is melodic but 'modern' at the same time, meaning he's adventurous, hitting interesting chords, beyond what I could do, but so easy to appreciate. His sense of phrasing is so interactive too, ripples of arpeggios, delightful runs with counter melodies, like he's improvising, which doubtless he was, but he transcribed his spontaneous journeys. He's the whole package. The individual who played piano managed it beautifully and with perfect feeling and freedom. Thanks to ThatClassicalVibe for posting this.
Indescribable beauty Indescribable comfort The dreams of my youth fade as I grow older and sink to the bottom of mymemories Debussy's music transcends time and borders, My soul remains in the Far East
There is nothing like Debussy; I am sorry you disagree with me. Still the guy is my first, middle and last choice within classic/al composers. He's timeless. I can listen to it hours and hours and at anytime of the day and still I can't get enough. Thank you, Mr. Debussy.
When you open a window in springtime in the morning, the sun shines, the birds are singing. You live in a country where you have freedom and you are healthy. How beautiful everything can be. Enjoy the little things.
Almost all of Debussy's songs touch my soul, but especially "Clair de Lune" has a deeper meaning for me when I first arrived in London years ago and fell completely in love. Every time I listen to it, it is heart-warming, making me appreciate and feel gratitude for life!
Debussy's most famous tune is Clair de lune, the wistful third movement of his Suite Bergamasque, composed in 1890. It's been used to advertise everything from airlines to toilet rolls, and incorporated into countless TV scores and films, including Westworld, The Right Stuff, Twilight and Ocean's Eleven. 44:44 [The Guardian]
I have come to enjoy classical music at such a late time in my life. But it is never too late. I have watched a lot of elephant videos and there is a man who plays classical music for the old elephants and they respond to the music. It is a beautiful thing. An 80 year old blind elephant that can actually cry tears and will move somewhat to the music. An old bull elephant who is violent and has to be handled by the care givers and behaves well while listening to the music. So I have listened to the music while he plays and have come to a point where I can appreciate classical music more and feel the calming effect it has on me and I could listen all day. I like Debussy. But I will branch out in time. It is beautiful for the elephants and myself. Love the elephants. They are wonderful!!
... what the guy above me said, also i believe you are thinking of Michael Jackson. But Debussy is and will be a huge mark in musical history and a whole chapter by my opinion
The first time, I heard Claude Debussy was in the Twilight movies. I fell in love with it then, and I'm strong enough not to give the internet I sec. of my mind. I will always find his music passionate, relaxing, and ethereal. Any story can be placed in there if you let your mind drift there. I use music like this for doing my artwork, I find I can concentrate a whole lot better, and I can feel the lines in my mind flowing with each note. It's pure magic, and I love it !❤❤❤
in every crowd ... just leave us hanging to find the key? :) im gonna go listen but only Dylan Beato would know. like on the spot know.. see Rick Beato channel then search for Dylan. watch all of those then award Rick Father of the century award.
there's something different about Debussy piano music. Elegantly melodic and also make listeners picture some kind of calming relaxing scenes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful compilation of his music. 🍀💚
He definitely is different from other composers. Take the reaction on moonlight for example: for Beethoven, it's gloomy, it's time for sadness, but for Debussy, it's magic and so reassuring Love Debussy❤
Monica you are a lucky woman with a mother like she was. I learned athome nothing about music, while I love it so much. I had to learn everything from scratch by myself and I feld myself often very lonely . But now these days fiel myself very lucky and I thank the Lord for the music of all kind! ❤😂😅😊
I played an instrument in school. I could only play the notes. Debussy plays the heart, the imagination, soul and all the perfect dreams anyone has ever known...
My daughter was an incredibly gifted pianist. Every day she practice these after school diligently and I'd come home to th beautiful sound of it. It still warms my heart to think of all these years later. Unfortunately she was abducted by aliens and was prisoner swapped by the CIA but now must be held in an underground bunker and i cant get to see her only told she is ok. I pray one day she can play again, but she had no piano in spaceprison, and now they wont let me send her one
As if clear water flowing from a spring・・・ As if the scent of the forest blowing・・・ As if rose flower start to blooming・・・ Debussy's sounds quitely heal our hearts. I love his delicacy best.♥
I was exposed to classical music early in my childhood years. Exposure is the key. Many people today don’t have a conditioned ear to appreciate, never mind to listen, to this timeless music genre.

So well said Lady Hecate...so well said...
This is exactly what it brings to my memory, too! Also, carrying flowers with my sister in from the garden :)
❤️
That's a lovely reminiscence 🥰️

I've been studying to become a surgical technologist, and Debussy has comforted me all throughout my preclinicals. I wont ever forget the feelings of excitement, exhaustion, doubt and love that Claude paints in my mind. Heres to making it through my clinical rotations!
Debussy is a perfect balance of flowing right brain creativity with your left brain studies. Wholeness. You'll do great!
Good luck man
Oh my but you give me a profound hope for the future in these dark times in the US. There are still people like you who are moved by this!
Studying law here and I do ALL my tests listening to Debussy and now it's impregnated in my mind to relax my nerves and focus more. His music has been a blessing, for real. Love that I'm not the only one positively scarred by his music.
Youl become a great and good person .
My 16 year old grand daughter plays classical and introduced me to Debussy, we have really bonded over classical music, going to a concert in Nov
For a long time I didn't want to admit I liked Debussy, but thanks to my friends and family's support I was able to come out and tell them I liked Debussy. Now it makes me feel so good, sometimes Debussy is all I can think about.
Debussy was jazz before jazz, movie credits before movies, and hipster before hipster. There is no shame, friend.

Greetings from Ukraine 🇺🇦
Good luck for Ukraine, I wish you a future as beautiful as Debussy's music : peaceful and human
Most people are good and want nothing of war. Most governments are not good. Instead of agreeing with one another they destroy people, cities and towns. Ukraine should have agreed with Russia and be a good neighbor and avoid all of this chaos.

Oh! Who in the history of man wrote more eloquently *ethereal* music? He was to music what Monet was to art.
I always felt he was the music to Monet! So sweet.
@@bettiraige3474 they both belong to the impressionist movement , which is based on the contemplation of nature (hence a lot of debussy's song titles referring to nature and all of monet's painting being nature ones)
Satie wrote some beautiful melodies that would give Debussy a run for his money.

Whenever I listen to Claire de lune my heart aches for my sweet Michele.
can you imagine what this dude would be going through if he was alive today
He'd be smoking meth in a park.
He wouldn't be alive for long, I'll tell you that much.

My and my boys love Debussy, we have Debussy everyday
🤣
Clair de lune was the first piano piece my piano teacher challenged me to learn. It took a while but I finally got it, and along the way opened myself up to Debussy’s amazing library of work.
As great as "Clair de lune" is, the other pieces are just as good.
@@GeraldM_inNC Yes, there are many beautiful pieces other than Clair de Lune (it is one of four from the Suite Bergamasque).
Me too but on violin.
What a wonderful memory 💞💞
Something is I don't understand. How he could become a grandpa if he never married?
Beautifully described sentiments❤

I just come to the conclusion that I love this artist. I watched a lot of elephant videos and there is a man that played classical music for elephants that were 80 years old and blind and actual tears and it was a beautiful thing. So I like the music he was playing
He died a relatively young man. What a loss. Can you imagine how many more beautiful works he would have created had he lived another 2o years?
What a genius this man was .He is by far my favorite composer of all time .
The world would be such a better place if everyone would just chill out a little to some classical music..
agreed, the world would be a better place if everyone could just chill and enjoy debussy
Thank you, France for giving us such a genius.
We've had lots of that, and I think we delivered them.
Some of them died in the WW1 unfortunately...
Such mellow beautiful music always feels like a breath of fresh air. My soul recognizes its native element, it’s natural atmosphere. Thanks.
It sounds like a stream meandering over pebbles.

Debussy’s music has a healing effect and a panacea for the soul
Debussy is a great Alchemist of the piano
Almost all of Debussy's songs touch my soul, but especially "Clair de Lune" has a deeper meaning for me when I first arrived in London years ago and fell completely in love. Every time I listen to it, it is heart-warming, making me appreciate and feel gratitude for life!
Oh, Debussy, I love Debussy! Sometimes all I can think about is Debussy.
I cannot tell if you did this on purpose. I figure you must've, but it reads so sincerely.

Debussy is new to me. Really soothing. It has become one of my favorite background musics for work.
Debussy’s music which cleans away the depression deep inside me, will last forever even if I’m not in this world
I have come to enjoy classical music at such a late time in my life.
To him, life is some pure-hearted and cheerful kids, playing in a beautiful garden and never become old.

It's pure magic, and I love it !❤❤❤

there's something different about Debussy piano music. Elegantly melodic and also make listeners picture some kind of calming relaxing scenes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful compilation of his music. 🍀💚
He definitely is different from other composers. Take the reaction on moonlight for example: for Beethoven, it's gloomy, it's time for sadness, but for Debussy, it's magic and so reassuring

I was exposed to classical music early in my childhood years.
Exposure is the key.
Many people today don’t have a conditioned ear to appreciate, never mind to listen, to this timeless music genre.
I agree. How did you get exposed to it? I have a toddler and I play classical in the background when he plays.
Many people don't know how important it is to get exposed to Debussy early on. To experience Debussy first-hands.
Gosh. I read all of the responses to my comment, and just want to say Thank you! You all posted lovely, touching remarks. I just lost my 90 year old father 11/1/22, and I know he and my mom are together again now.( they were married 51years). I cherish the special memories I have of them both.
