Yes we did too. Cross shopped the x5 50e and cayenne e-Hybrid. Configured to have matching features the Porsche was an eye watering $25k more. We went with a fully loaded M sport 50e for 90k vs 115k for a similarly equipped Cayenne.
@@kenoh818 the car Sam drive (V8 + loaded with options) is $150k in the US. I drove the V6, which was 100K. As Sam mentioned, the BMW B58 engine is almost as quick as the Porsche V8. So the straight line acceleration in the Cayenne V6 was underwhelming. Also, being an Audi/VW V6, it felt coarse in comparison to the inline B58. I wasn’t expecting to feel the vibration that I did in the Porsche. The interior of the Porsche felt very plain and underwhelming, especially for a 100k car. Again, it was not loaded with options like Sam’s. The sound system was mediocre, and Porsche still puts subwoofer in the doors, which is the worst place for them. The Bose rattled, which was unacceptable. The X5 has subwoofers under the seats, in the structure of the car. Zero vibration. Also, at 85k, the X5s interior is IMO far better than the 100k Cayenne I drove. The ambient lighting is no comparison. It’s an afterthought in the Porsche. I wish Sam showed the Panoramic Sky Lounge lighting. It is so cool. Finally, the Porsche’s backup camera was extremely low resolution. That’s right, on a 2024 redesign with a 100k price tag. And I mean LOW resolution, like something you’d find on a 2012 car. Having spend a fair bit of time in Porsche sports cars, I expected the same degree of perfection. I didn’t get that feeling. I really love Porsche as a company, which is why I felt so let down. For the price, the X5 can’t be beat IMO. If I’m spending 100k, I’d do the Range Rover Sport or X5 M60i which is an absolute beast.
The price difference is actually much greater than advertised. I have a Cayenne on lease and if I wanted to get another one, it would cost me an additional $800 per month over what I am paying now. Part of this is because Porsche will not build their vehicles without minimum upgrades. So not only has the base price increased but you need to equip a Cayenne with a minimum of $20,000 of add-ons.

Plus if you do a few mods, with very little money you are in the 450HP territory fast. And believe me that motor can handle it without any issue. My X3 has the B48 motor, the 4 cylinder, and since it's out of warranty I did a couple of mods for less than 2500 dollars and it sends 310 HP at the wheels right now. it is a little monster SUV also.
I owned a 2021 Cayenne base coupe and now have a 2024 X5 50 e and I would take the X5 all day over the Cayenne. The Cayenne S with the V8 is nice but in the US you’re talking about $110k minimum for a Cayenne S with options vs $82k for the X5 with options. If price is any factor at all, the X5 is easily the better choice. When I purchased my 50e, I drove it back to back with a 2023 Macan S and the 50e won me over. Both options are relatively uninteresting in terms of aesthetics. Although it may not be as dependable, personally, I would opt for the Maserati SUV over any other aforementioned choices, including the Jaguar or the Alfa Romeo.
I've driven many a Maserati Levante, drives great and has standard air suspension. Nice interior as well. Reliability probably lower than the Germans, but under warranty who cares.

so there is no actual driving comparison - steering, handling, acceleration, transmission performance? And this is Porsche and BMW we're talking about!
I would get a Certified Pre owned Cayenne S -u get 2 yrs unlimited miles and can buy a third over your new car warranty and drive somthing that is atypical vs typical...X5 is great but too pedestrian...peace
Here in SW Florida, both of these cars are a dime a dozen - you see both everywhere. I don’t doubt Porsche is a better, though considerably more expensive, car. But I have never liked the Porsche “look” on anything other than a sports car. To each his own. Love my new X5.
BMW
The Cayenne is better if you can afford it! You’ll know what I’m talking about when you go to Porsche for the services :)
Cayenne seems small
And old school gimmicky in a way?
Even BMW goes to touch screen climate control 😭
Porsche > anyones. Take a test drive. It’s facts
Porsche any time😂❤❤❤❤
BMW all day long baby
21:58 Actually EV cars should NOT be allowed in the HOV lane because they don’t have engines the have to idle. Gas cars should be allowed to get where they are going asap to be more energy efficient. If you can spare the time in your EV it would help the world to let less efficient cars not all pile up burning gas.
For porchore only 911 while bmw suv is an option.
Which on is the overpriced?
Both are well priced
@@SamCarLegion so would you pay around 140,000 for a well equipped mummy SUV?
is this even a fair comparison? the X5 is not in the same price range as the Cayenne.

I comprehend why Porsche believes it is necessary to maintain a consistent design language, but the appearance remains monotonous and hardly distinguishable from its initial release.
No, Porsche needs to keep the design as it is. Not change it
Porsche is above the BMW, talking about luxury and perception given.
good luck on that sell😂
Everyone knows that BWM owners see Porsche as the Upgrade Goal, and Porsche owners looks forward 2 they next Porsche. The rest just pick what they think they like but can't afford either one.
you must be high?
FYI...the interior of the Beamer in your video is fitted with the entry level "vegan leather" called Sensofin. I guess they made it that good, that they fooled you guys into thinking it was real perforated leather :). The X5 in your video would BTW look much better with the black grill I believe.
X5 is definitely more practical with better vision from driver’s seat, more room and you can switch it between sport and comfort. The Cayenne offers more dynamic and joy for the driver and that’s it.
Porsche Volkswagen. Nope.
Porsche any time! I have a Cayenne V8 S Platinum diesel, best driving experience!!!
In Saudi Arabia we like cayenne and range rover and G class only 👍🏻
Lamborghini urus is better
the Porsche is just so outdated a 911 with high heels most people i know just don’t think anything about porsche unless in the 60s
Porsche sneaky. BMW is upfront.
PORSCHE IS A BETTER QUALITY BUILD !!
Don’t think sales represent that
1:24 cayenne looks like a 911
You must be soo high.
Cayenne is a beast but looks like a 911? 😂
