About 11 years ago, in a neighborhood I lived in up-state NY, lived a colony of about 20 feral cats. I owned a restaurant and would bring them scraps each night. I noticed one particular cat was not allowed to partake in the feast. I went out of my way to make sure she got some food. That spring as I pulled into my drive way, in the corner if the garage I saw a tiny little kitten, had to be maybe 2 weeks old, I picked are up, brought her inside and gave her a bowl of food. She made noises like that as she hate. To this day, I’m convinced she was a gift from that particular cat from the colony in which I made sure got some food. She is still with us living happily in the high 🌵 desert
She's saying (as if you didn't know) : " I'm warning you - stay away from my food.!!"
Stick a camera in my face when I'm trying to eat and I'll do more than just growl at you! Thank-you for caring for her.
How some of us take tasting and eating enjoyment highly for granted. This cat devours and only woofs down the food as fast as possible.
I have relatives that sound worst than that while they're eating.
How adorable is that? Just too precious. The cat I mean.

All house cars that are food aggressive will make that noise when another cat gets too close.

Not entirely true. Baby kittens do the same thing whether born in a home setting or not. Now as adults it might stick with them but come off less agressive. Most definitely an instinct though. DOGS ARE same way

One of my house cats does that, sounds just like him.
Michigan Mitt, Lakeside, West, Halfway up: Inherited 40 acres from my grandparents, half redpine 60 years old becoming mixed woods now, small swale with creek, about 16 acres in corn and alfalfa farmed by a neighbor, lots of wildlife. Trail cam rarely catches wildlife, don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I see lots of wildlife from my house and LOTS of prints including bobcat paws. At least I can enjoy seeing them on someone else's videos!
