I can not forget the knockout of Vernon White, the way line him up beautifully with his jab,and while moving backwards threw the right straight for the KO. Chuck understood distance, and footwork very well.
You also have to remember there are differences in the stance, an mma fighter has to be prepared for take downs so he cant be jabbing and throwing his arm out one after the other like boxers because with an arm out you are vulnerable to take downs.
Notice he moves to the right when turning into the left hook. It adds momentum to the punch. Putting the whole body into the punch. This is perfect technique. Without the technique the punch looks like the guy after him doing the punch.
bigdee1983420 it is a power shot for shure but it is also good to stay planted and balanced to come back with a cross straight right....I guess its good to do both....
This is why Chuck Liddell is,and always will be one of the baddest martial artist/fighters ever. You can see were Chuck's power comes from,he has a solid core, wide shoulders, and solid trap, and neck muscles. Along with having some huge forearms, that combined with his Karate/Wrestling base, and proper technique/explosion/speed/power. Makes for a dangerous combination for anybody. He was ahead of his time, nobody was striking like him in the UFC is what makes him so special for the sport of MMA.
its simple its all about body mechanics...if you notice when chuck shows his left hook it looks strong and precise vs the gut at 1:10 his body is not built like chuck...chuck liddell is one in a million but I say 10 million...chuck has the complex of a 5' 6" with wide shoulders and not considering his legs ... you put it on a guy thats 6'2" and you got liddell with alot of power condensed in his shoulders and back.....
since i cant because I'm across the internet i'll say a couple things 1 he is only using upper body less power 2 he is winding the the shot so it takes too long 3 the motion should start with the hips to maximize power and reduce the time of the hook
MMA reminds me of the guys who can do alot but suck really bad at it Boxing reminds me of the guys who can do fewer things but are really amazing at it.
It wasn't wide and wild. That part was just teaching the mechanics of the punch - to twist your body from the waist as hard as you can. Listen, he says tighten it up (bring your arm in) after. He has his arm bent at a 90 degree angle, just like anyone elses hook; he just throws his body into it more furiosly which make it a bigger hook than most.
Chuck is one scary dude but so humble those are the people in life that are the most feared the loud big mouths are scared while the quiet and low key are the bad ass motherfuckers
@tommy42993 you obviously have never trained before. the guy holding pads for the dude in gloves is obviously not holding it proper, which is why there's no sound.
Good point, but one of the reasons chuck was so successful was the unorthodox angles his punches came from, these could only be achieved by throwing some looping, elbow out punches.Do i think Chucks striking style was flawless, no, but i do think that their are alot of good reasons for most things that seem like just bad form.
MMA has a different striking dynamic than normal boxing, its more effective to go for the KO than it is in boxing because MMA's don't wear pillows on their hands.
Dan0101010101010 pretty dumb comment yo...the "pillow" is to protect the boxers hands..not your opponents face. Guarantee Tyson in his Prime has way more knock out power in his boxing gloves, than 90% mma dudes in their gloves
Dan0101010101010 and yet they still knock opponents down and some loose their lives in boxing with pillow gloves. wich proves a boxer punches way more effective than an mma
FAST RUN LOGISTICS no, it just proves how ridiculous boxing can be when it comes to keeping their boxers safe. Boxers die from repeated blows to the head after they've been knocked out, Or knocked down. Boxers are allowed to continue a fight if they appear well enough to continue after the count. There's no 10 sec count in mma, once a fighter is knocked out or cant defend himself; the fight is immediately stopped and the fighter loses, no chances. Also , mma doesn't have just one kind of punch, there are many different types of techniques , thats why it is called mixed martial arts. You can box in mma , but it has to be adapted in to realistic fighting. Some boxing techniques can't be used in a street fight.
there is alot more then just footwork involved, you have to be ready to sprawl if someone shoots on you and you need to keep your hands in otherplaces to fend of kicks, mma boxing and boxing are two different things, as i said you should not compare them
Although it is true that fighting isnt all about punching a very well trained boxer could easily keep kicks at bay especially with the footwork that boxing has a great boxer can bob and weave out of hits and also have amazing footwork that may move him around the opponent quickly while throwing jabs to keep you pressured even tho my style is MMA ive vsd such a good opponent tough to beat.
@killerneon302 Muay Thai is a sport. It is derived from an art of war, which is not called Muay Thai. It would be similar to saying Kendo is made for war. Kendo was what young people who were learning to be Samurai would learn, but that is different to saying Kendo is the way of the Samurai. Also, one of the most dominant forces in K1 started with Karate. There have been a few Karate fighters with ennough striking skills to compete in top level K1 competition.
I have been training for almost 3 years and I turn 17 in a month so I cant fight MMA yet but I do amateur boxing. There is no way in hell any amateur boxer I have ever met can knockout Chuck. Maybe some of the olympic guys have a chance.
Actually I have trained muay thai .. I started training muay thai in 2008 when mma started blowing up in popularity, been training ever since so I know what I'm talking about. I've been in countless street fights and trained mma also, so i'm being objective. Kicks rarely work in a real fight because you're not warmed up and you're wearing pants most likely and it's too easy to lose footing when kicking. Boxing is the best because it's the most devastating, fastest, most mobile martial art.
P.S. a kick from a professional kick/thai boxer is a hell of a lot harder than a punch from a boxer. It's simple physics, so as far as "not knowing what the fuck happened" and 'having never been hit hard in your life" goes, it's the complete opposite. Apology and a smiley face.
it did make sense im saying you dont have any real point fraizer has nothing to do with this and james tony was world champion in many weight classes he was one of the top boxers in his day
News flash! All punches to the face are legal in MMA. Its just easier to KO a boxer after you blast his ribs with a kick, giving you a free shot to the grill while his hands clutch his rib fracments. Forget the ground game boxers lose in the standup. Their punch combinations give you free range to kick, knee and elbow them. That $#*% ain't on their radar and they're not gonna absorb them they'll just go down.
Hey Joglo, I'm almost thinking that we should do a "Training With Pros" Episode featuring yourself showing viewers the proper left hook technique. Or is it possible for you to even just shoot and post a simple iphone quality video showing everyone the correct way to execute this punch?
Yeah it’s a strange one that hook you can tell how hard it is god I think chucks just naturally very heavy handed that half power one he did would ko people definitely.
This is Joglo. I tried to fight Sinister McMeth.. I told him I was coming to New York, I gave him a gym and a time. He of course was a no show. I told him I had been training in Thailand and Indo. and would be in NY. I got in a week before the big storm. After the storm I told this coward when and where. I even told him to tell me where he trains and I would go there. No reply. So here he is, still talking shit, unfortunately, I still don't think his balls have dropped yet.
Doesnt mean he uses boxing, Ive never seen him throw a jab, a hook, or an uppercut...he use kicks, knees, and elbows WAY more then any simple boxing punch...
If we agree at some points we shouldnt be arguing and bashing each other like two keyboard warriors... love boxing and mma, so hey dude peace and take care
I can back up my words too punk and I don't use my training for the wrong reasons, I'm about to go pro in boxing and after my debut I'm going to be training for competition muay thai.
Why don't you guys battle it out in a cage or ring somewhere? We can make a big promotion out of it! Maybe Chuck will even make an appearance. What do you say guys.... Joglo... McDeth????
Chuck Liddell has the most mysterious punching angles in MMA history.
cypresspuz but it worked tho
@@liftclub58 It sure did, people forget or never knew just how scary the Iceman was at one point in time.
Chucks left hook would just shatter all the teeth and bone in a mans face.
I can not forget the knockout of Vernon White, the way line him up beautifully with his jab,and while moving backwards threw the right straight for the KO. Chuck understood distance, and footwork very well.
so telegraphed but if it lands you're toast
That hook has sooooooo much devastating power..... if he landed that on me it would fucking break my face all up
You also have to remember there are differences in the stance, an mma fighter has to be prepared for take downs so he cant be jabbing and throwing his arm out one after the other like boxers because with an arm out you are vulnerable to take downs.
Notice he moves to the right when turning into the left hook. It adds momentum to the punch. Putting the whole body into the punch. This is perfect technique. Without the technique the punch looks like the guy after him doing the punch.
+bigdee1983420 yup, master level skill.
KO but very unstable when miss, Hip from the hip
bigdee1983420 it is a power shot for shure but it is also good to stay planted and balanced to come back with a cross straight right....I guess its good to do both....

I happen to speak chuck's language so it was my pleasure to translate!
Holy shit, I can only imagine how much it would suck to be hit with that 'power hook' by Chuck Liddell.
The caption of "Figure the rest out for yourselves" had me chuckling!"
Omg. You actually did it. Thank you so much :)
Ive been hit by chuck with a overhand right (while holding a pad) that guy hits HARD
I think any punch from Chuck qualifies as a knock out blow sonnyblack0870!
+ninjakid6 Thanks for the advice buddy. It means alot to us all
Striking = most effective form of fighting on the street, like it or not, that's how it is my friend :)
He is a real brawler..
boxing in the sport of mma and boxing in the sport of boxing are two completely different things, you shouldn't compare them
brilliant retort.
Chuck doesn't have gloves on, also the Asian guy is holding a mitt. Chuck was hitting a handheld blast pad. Big difference.
This is the only Mac Lethal comment that slipped through the cracks. None one like or comment besides this comment.
that left hook is a bit obv, but then again he has proved that it works in the cage
look at chucks stomach.... pure muscle, hes not fat, his core strength is very impressive, hes very bulky there. hence his great takedown defense
since i cant because I'm across the internet i'll say a couple things
1 he is only using upper body less power
2 he is winding the the shot so it takes too long
3 the motion should start with the hips to maximize power
and reduce the time of the hook
That punch would take my head clean off my shoulders
there really isn't anyone in the UFC that throws a monster left hook like the ice man did, god damn
Amazing Strength...Amazing Explosion.
MMA reminds me of the guys who can do alot but suck really bad at it
Boxing reminds me of the guys who can do fewer things but are really amazing at it.
awesome video thanks

Well many know me as Art Vandelay so that could be why...
Had to give some props to you for some really successful trolling.
damn... chuck is the baddest dude on the planet
Chuck is a viking punch power😱😱😱😱
there are reports that the guy holding the gloves for liddell smash had to go to hospital with a shattered hand
Woah you're such a tough guy over the internet :O
chuck you the man!!!!
hahah the noise difference of chuck hitting the pad vs the guy in red gloves
vicious left hook
Definitely would have been cool to see Tyson compete in MMA!!!!!
counter right hand .............. lights out
Chuck is one scary dude but so humble those are the people in life that are the most feared the loud big mouths are scared while the quiet and low key are the bad ass motherfuckers
Chucks getting a beer belly.
you should post some of your fights up, or maybe make a video of how you do a left hook
@tommy42993 you obviously have never trained before. the guy holding pads for the dude in gloves is obviously not holding it proper, which is why there's no sound.
JDS is a perfect boxer, and his hook = Chuck's!
joglo65... If we could get Chuck to come back for one more mma fight, would you face him in a cage?
Good point, but one of the reasons chuck was so successful was the unorthodox angles his punches came from, these could only be achieved by throwing some looping, elbow out punches.Do i think Chucks striking style was flawless, no, but i do think that their are alot of good reasons for most things that seem like just bad form.
MMA has a different striking dynamic than normal boxing, its more effective to go for the KO than it is in boxing because MMA's don't wear pillows on their hands.
yeah easier KO with them 4oz gloves. Also its a lot easier for a punch too slip through.
Dan0101010101010 pretty dumb comment yo...the "pillow" is to protect the boxers hands..not your opponents face. Guarantee Tyson in his Prime has way more knock out power in his boxing gloves, than 90% mma dudes in their gloves
Menehune Beachbumboogie Yeah. if anytbing its worse to go for knock out shots in MMA because youre more likely to break your hand.
Dan0101010101010 and yet they still knock opponents down and some loose their lives in boxing with pillow gloves. wich proves a boxer punches way more effective than an mma

Should have gotten a shot of his footwork.
there is alot more then just footwork involved, you have to be ready to sprawl if someone shoots on you and you need to keep your hands in otherplaces to fend of kicks, mma boxing and boxing are two different things, as i said you should not compare them
Yo he hits with all power
Although it is true that fighting isnt all about punching a very well trained boxer could easily keep kicks at bay especially with the footwork that boxing has a great boxer can bob and weave out of hits and also have amazing footwork that may move him around the opponent quickly while throwing jabs to keep you pressured even tho my style is MMA ive vsd such a good opponent tough to beat.
right hand should be protect head not going down
That left hook would take heads off!💯🤣
...and always make sure that you pull your rear hand back away from your jaw and midsection.
Beast...
@tommy42993 its more to do with the 4oz gloves dont make a slapping sound against the pad as a bare hand does
boxing in mma is diffrent than real boxing so its work for sure in mma for boxing it may work the exmpl ; wilder deontay is making it
the wind-up telegraphs the hook and he over throws it making the recover time way to long... but it does have power
No problem, I'll put up subtitles.
Go Chuck!

it did make sense im saying you dont have any real point fraizer has nothing to do with this and james tony was world champion in many weight classes he was one of the top boxers in his day
Is this a knock out blow?? Plz respond, I'm trying to learn how to knock someone out
fight me bro
absolutely.... Shit, hook it up, training with the pros....
That's gotta hurt.BANG
theres really only difference in the noise mainly because the one with red gloves cant hit as hard but other then that hes wearing gloves
TITLES ARE POSTED!!!!!
subtitles low key hilarious
and you are?
having said that you do have a rather vicious left hook chuck ;-)
Cheers!
LOLOLOL how haven't i encountered you yet
I hope you realise that with padding it makes less noise.

james tony all i need to say.
"Sinusmcdeth" LOOOOL
Man you're real tough all the way in SF LOL.
Sonny Westbrook (amateur boxer) vs Don Frye (legend mma fighter) in street fight in hotel, nuff said.
such a crowded area, would not be surprised if someone clipt a random kid in the back of the head
i was never a fan of chuck but i miss the iceman in the ufc he still beat forrest and probably half of the top ten guys
Ok Mr anonymous.
Yeah it’s a strange one that hook you can tell how hard it is god I think chucks just naturally very heavy handed that half power one he did would ko people definitely.
now picture this from junior dos santos

Sorry, no. But Sinistermcdonalds IS bottleshock100, smileypie11 and uncletermite. I've linked them back to his email so I know for sure.
I would not like to be on the end of one of Liddell's left hooks lol
I agree but anderson does use boxing alot at one point he was a professonal boxer.
Oh, thats right, Roy lives in San Fran... Need I say more. Haaaaa.
If we agree at some points we shouldnt be arguing and bashing each other like two keyboard warriors... love boxing and mma, so hey dude peace and take care
I can back up my words too punk and I don't use my training for the wrong reasons, I'm about to go pro in boxing and after my debut I'm going to be training for competition muay thai.
actually Bruce lee was a boxer in high school. sugar ray leonard through punches from his hips all the time.
Also, Don Frye's had 5 back surgeries.
Why don't you guys battle it out in a cage or ring somewhere? We can make a big promotion out of it! Maybe Chuck will even make an appearance. What do you say guys.... Joglo... McDeth????
