It's just paraphrasing what Bas said. In a pancrase fight he was getting angry because the guy said he was close fisted punching him in the face, which was against the rules. The guy kept lying so Bas purposefully went for the body and in his own words "broke his liver". He needed to go to the hospital. Bas is the man.
I'd jizz my pants if Bas liver shot me. I'd collapse in a state of extreme pain and injury from a ruptured liver mixed with euphoria of being hit by Bas.
"I can't believe that I have not heard this before" A lot of people are trained poorly. Ronda became champion and still doesn't know how to hit a bag or how to train to dodge pads. For me that's the only problem with MMA, by design anything can work, and therein lies the problem, but also the beauty of fighting.
Shadowboxe you can crutch your disadvantages with other techniques. Someone who lacks top level striking or boxing might depend on wrestling or clinching. MMA doesn't necessarily mean master of all martial arts just the allowance of different schools of fighting.
Bas, I know that you're naturally gifted with awesome strenght, but you had to train a lot to become so strong. Which exercises do you recomend to build great strenght and explosiveness? Greetings from Brasil! OSU!
Jorgh Istkrieg Like he says in the video, abdominal core strength. The strength comes from rotating your upper body and throw weight behind it. A good exercise to train this is a using a heavy ball, hold it in front of you and rotate as fast as you can from left to right until your belly and core muscles start to ache. Rest. Repeat. Until your Bas Rutten 😉
"Abs only transfer the power from the lower body out to the hand." Um, yeah, that's a good definition of core strength, proving that it is not a "myth".
That's why Bas did a hell of a lot of palm strikes/ slaps. At first I wondered what the hell he was doing, but it actually makes a lot of sense and he is lethal with them
@ZionHillCalling This is true, however, Bas was so immediately and devastatingly effective with his palm strikes that when he initially debuted the technique, several of the first opponents to taste it appealed to the ref with certainty they'd been struck with a fist. Dude is instantly recognizable as legend-tier even by people who don't know the first thing about combat.
@@HWHY Well yes, his results speak for themselves. When his opponents get slapped around for days and get carried out with a ruptured liver at the end of the fight, you've gotta respect that.

One of the first technical strikers of his his time,Dudes brilliant.
If you hit me in the Liver I would probably die or be in the accident and emergency room
I would count on it, he's broken a pro's liver before.
Graham Van Dyke broken? Do you rupture?
It's just paraphrasing what Bas said. In a pancrase fight he was getting angry because the guy said he was close fisted punching him in the face, which was against the rules. The guy kept lying so Bas purposefully went for the body and in his own words "broke his liver". He needed to go to the hospital. Bas is the man.
I'd jizz my pants if Bas liver shot me. I'd collapse in a state of extreme pain and injury from a ruptured liver mixed with euphoria of being hit by Bas.
But you could probably die if he punched you in the FACE even more so lol. Yes those body shots can drop most people to the ground
"I can't believe that I have not heard this before"
A lot of people are trained poorly. Ronda became champion and still doesn't know how to hit a bag or how to train to dodge pads. For me that's the only problem with MMA, by design anything can work, and therein lies the problem, but also the beauty of fighting.
Alde N Therein lies what problem?
Shadowboxe you can crutch your disadvantages with other techniques. Someone who lacks top level striking or boxing might depend on wrestling or clinching. MMA doesn't necessarily mean master of all martial arts just the allowance of different schools of fighting.
Mma isn't a standardized martial arts system ..it is a different mix in every gym
When Technical Guy has won over 40 fights, we might take him seriously.
Edward Stanulevich if ur talkin about dude in this vid, Bas is a decorated MMA legend who won multiple titles on multiple fighting organisations.
Tan Ten No, Bas calls our the "technical guys" at the start
Bas is one of the good guys these days, fewer bar fights and more time for people 😁👍
This man is a treasure to humanity!
Punching Paradiddles lol. awesome.
BASSSSUUUUUU RUUUUUUUUUUTTTTENNNNNNNnnnnnnNnnnnnnnnn
rlrrlrll bruh
RUTTENUUUUUU*
The noise when he started punching had me dead.😂😂😂
Great instruction! Starched my grandma with this combo.
weakbrainthrombosis haha
That’ll teach her to mind her own business.
To see and here Bas give these simple secrets and demonstrate them is just awesome.
I love how the BAS dummy has a marker to indicate where you have to hit to practice liver shots.
An absolute necessity.
+WGACA Wrong. Power comes from rotating the hips. Core strength is a myth. Abs only transfer the power from the lower body out to the hand.
how heavy?
Josh TR then power goes through the abs which means it still comes from there towards the arms :)
"Abs only transfer the power from the lower body out to the hand." Um, yeah, that's a good definition of core strength, proving that it is not a "myth".
*no liver was harm during this video.*
Hide your liver, here comes BAS!
😂
Thank you for sharing Mr. Rutten. You are a legend Sir. Respects from Canada
Not sure how this video can possibly have one dislike. Mr bas is genius
290 guys who were hit in the liver by Bas disliked this video
2:10 That rah rah let’s you know how you’re gonna feel before you even get hit
“Load em up, drop em down” gangster
DAMN, Bas those were BIG SHOTS. I expected you to be twice as fast and half as powerful. You're stronger than you look, Bas
You gotta have some pretty big and tough knuckles to bare knuckle punch someone in the skull and not hurt yourself in the process.
Goodpoint
That's why Bas did a hell of a lot of palm strikes/ slaps. At first I wondered what the hell he was doing, but it actually makes a lot of sense and he is lethal with them
@ZionHillCalling
This is true, however, Bas was so immediately and devastatingly effective with his palm strikes that when he initially debuted the technique, several of the first opponents to taste it appealed to the ref with certainty they'd been struck with a fist.
Dude is instantly recognizable as legend-tier even by people who don't know the first thing about combat.
@@HWHY Well yes, his results speak for themselves. When his opponents get slapped around for days and get carried out with a ruptured liver at the end of the fight, you've gotta respect that.
That shit is lethal... now i'm scared to hit my opponent...
Bas would hold back when he knew hid did enough damage. One of a kind... stops before the lawsuit.
I can finally beat my grandma 👵🥊
When Bas started to punch those pads my liver started to shake in fear. Bas is a damn TANK.
Bas has always been a gentleman, thankyou Bas !
thanks sensei!
i cant wait to try this out on my school bully
Marshmello Doggo had a good run.
He may never have gotten the belt, or made it past 15 years old, but he was still a champ in our hearts.
-Marshmello Doggo
2005-2019
Killed by pneumonia complications due to swirlie.
@@stuflames4769 He showed heart at the end though, just didn't have that upper body strength yet....
El Guapo
Pure respect for you Bas. Keep kicking ass, 7 years after the video.
HOLY CRAP !!! ALL POWER IN THOSE HITS, JESUS ! .. sir
