I love how real you are. I've also forgotten an ingredient when making something and didn't realize it till the end.

this looks good. last time i made kugel i made it with raisins. i think it’s one of those dishes that can be sweet or savory.

I'm so weird with raisins! But yeah, I'm sure it's not as bad as it sounds, lol.

Most people I knew growing up made it with raisins. I don't like them myself. I always picked them out.

This was fun. You made me laugh with the raisin shudder and the dill mishap. And your hair is nice too. Happy holidays!

It does look like a very comforting casserole, and delicious! Love the look on your face after you say "I think this is the messiest I've gotten" LOL!

I did everything the same except I just baked everything precooked and substituted the tofu for vegan cream cheese and it turned put pretty good still! I baked it on 375 for 60 minutes

Love your channel! 😂 Raisins have no place in savory foods. Keep grapes for wine! This recipe is one of my favs in the book. Definitely double the dill.

Thanks Sarah! Yeah--I'm weird about raisins. Good tip on the dill--it also helps if you actually add it to the casserole 😜

Was it moist? I may try it.

It was slightly--not as much as say a lasagna. Definitely not dry--it was a good balance.

This looks delicious - and with all that protein from the tofu, it goes from a side dish to a full meal. All you'd need is a salad and dessert!

Looks yummy-as always... have you been to Lotsa Pasta on Lexington Rd? I bet they would have that type of pasta,

I didn't know they sold packaged pasta! I thought they were just a cafe--I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Don't be salty, just dill with it. ;^)

I haven't had kugel in years. Totally excited to attempt my first one. I'll have to modify it gluten free though. But easy enough.
Also I am so fussy with dill. Yuck lol sorry. I'm omitting it too.

Best saying ever ‘we are properly mixed up’! Good thing you had a backup bottle of wine!! 🤣

I'm surprised there is no freshly grated nutmeg in it. Goes good with spinach and dill. You can heavily salt your boiling water to add saltiness to noodles.L'Chaim...

Interesting addition with the nutmeg! Also, yeah, I didn't salt the pasta water as much as I probably could've.

That's pretty genius with the lasagna noodles! I used farfalle (those little bow ties) for my noodle kugel. I don't usually make a savory kugel. Mine is usually sweet with....RAISINS! LOL. But I love ur recipe! Might have to give it a whirl at Passover!

    • @TheVeganTestKitchen
      @TheVeganTestKitchen  5 років тому +1

I remember seeing several recipes with farfalle when I was researching what I was getting myself into (I've never made kugel), but the Veganomicon wants to make my life complicated! I guess I shouldn't be too judgy when it comes to sweet kugel--never had it, and it sounds pretty popular.....................nah, I'm gonna keep being judgy, lol.

there's nothing more annoying than trying to fit those lasagne noodles in a pan because they never fit... i like this 'break them all up' technique and will try it in future haha looks GOOD tho man!

Thanks biki! Now you have me thinking about using broken noodles in a lasagne...and now I also want lasagne...
