Thomas EXOVCDS the cilinder had 07 date on it the new one from Wagner is the exact same brand fet and VW markings so let's hope it lasts another 11 years. Considering it was plastic it's done ok but yes I am not a fanboy of plastics.
Quite difficult to replace on a Right hand steer car . Job was done without dismental of the engine other then the air filter housing so i could lift the whole steel hose contraption a few inches of the firewall. Job took a whole day lucky no one pays for that as it is the company car.
GuaranteedBeautiful when the pedal don't returns fully. You need to find a leak . It took me quite a bit to find it . Just had 1 drop fluid inside car drip on to holding screw(discoleration, corrosion) found it with my 300$ flashlight. Make sure you fully exchange the fluid clutch and brake every 24 month. Places it could leak master inside car bleeder in out or slave inside transmission. Rockauto ship worldwide. For master make sure correct j1 Bora Jetta have a different master . You just have to look the images this Passat one is from a listing at rockauto from a petrol but was the same part Brand as I pulled from the car surprisingly.
GuaranteedBeautiful well that gets quite difficult to talk about on the internet not knowing all facts , and what was done by who to find out what is wrong. I always have had a diagnose strategy to follow a blueprint map and find out what is right till you found what is wrong.
First, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my messages so quickly! I am far from being a mechanic. I would normally just look for someone to do this but budget doesn't currently allow. I could give more details but I think you're probably right. THanks!
GuaranteedBeautiful Clutch working as it should and car not engage is either the clutch to spline input shaft is broken the gearbox is broken or the drive output shaft is broken or the cv joint is broken severed. You test everything outside transmission if all is testing ok you pull the box. Subframe has to come loose and tied back hanging under car to make room to remove a 6 speed trans what I have in my j1 Bora-jetta. See flywheel video for tips. You also want to subscribe to exovcds he has better videos my videos are more just tips when you already know most things.
Too much plastic on new cars... needing special tools is also not fun! =(

I have an 04 VW Jetta TDI with a clutch problem. How do you test to know if it is a Clutch, Master Cylinder, or Slave Cylinder?

No, I was asking how you know which is which. Everything is acting / feels exactly like it did before. The clutch just won't engage to pull the car.
