Nice work mate. There's a slightly easier way to do it - it involves opening the engine cover, slide in a 13mm spanner underneath and then break the nut loose from the top. But great video, looking forward to seeing more.

That's a very good idea. Working alone, I couldn't get the spanner to stay on while turning the other side. With a helper this could have saved a lot of time.

Nice, I'm working on a van that had been used for parts. I don't know which parts are supposed to be there. Your video helped me.... A good way is the pull the retainer pin from the clutch lever. Pull the bolt to the bell housing and the whole assembly comes down. Then you can get access to it.

About to do this same job on 88 GL. My 85 westy has the same MB wheels. I had to cut off all the brake fittings, there was nothing for the wrench to fit on... gas tank replaced, power steering lines, radiator, and coolant lines... I'm flip flopping about heater hose and radiator hose replacement. Chasing a leak is a pita.

I’m digging the Sun Microsystems sticker on the steering wheel of the van you used to go get bolts. I still have a Java Station and a Sparc Station in my collection of outdated computer hardware.

I was the lead engineer at a Sun integrator and still run some rack mounted servers for email and web services, using OpenSolaris and its successor, OpenIndiana, on both SPARC and IA64.

      I fix Volvos, too. LOL

@@vanstechcorral my first *nix experience was with SunOS->Solaris (early 90s) and I still prefer vi over emacs. Sounds like we have some similar background/interests. Glad I found your channel. I'm about to replace my clutch slave cylinder. Hopefully I won't have the same trouble with the bolts. I've already trained my daughter how to assist with bleeding so I won't be using a pressure bleeding here either. Thanks for posting this video!

@@fiveable I did recently have a pressure bleeder passed on to me from another mechanic, after that was done. I went from a dealer mechanic using "Sun" diagnostic equipment to a computer designer/programmer/engineer working with Sun computer equipment LOL.

@@fiveable A colo in Miami just shipped me our old Sun equipment when they went out of business - including our first Sparcstation 1. The V100 1U is still useful for infrastructure, with serial ports from a 32 port Cisco router.

lifter leakdown until warmed up after a long period off. Typical waterboxer phenomenon.
