    I think the difference is horns don't fall off on their own, but antlers do! Pretty sure I learned that from Barron in a previous video 😊😄

      Yup, antlers are lost and grow back each year, horns are for life.

    Long time listener, first time caller here. I’m a fellow scamper (13’) and big fan of the channel. My post kid self looks at building and homes very differently than my pre-parent self. If there is remote possibility babies will live in this house- I would reconsider the sleeping loft and see if you can get it all on one level. Kids and ladders take about 6 years to be safe.

      Or consider a regular staircase and/or adding a small bedroom downstairs for a nursery. I agree that if you’re going to take the effort to build, think into the future.

      That was my first thought too. Tret & Allie built a home with a loft and the home is already too small with their new baby.

      We have a tiny home and our 4 year old hasn’t fallen off her ladder once. I think with proper training, ladders before 6 years old is perfectly safe.

      It's what they get used to and grow up with. There are ways to keep lofts safe.
      My twins started their first few months in a camping trailer where we lived next to a house we were supposed to be renovating. I won't go into that, but looking back, I wish we had gone on the road with our camping trailer and the twins at the outset.
      Now at almost 65, kids all grown, I'm thinking about going on the road for awhile soon. My big question is, which is more economical, a van or a Forester (2015 automatic) with a lightweight trailer like a Scamp?

    when making a square corner remember the 3,4,5 rule; when you measure from the corner point -
    - 3 units in one direction
    - 4 units in the other
    - placing the two measurement ends
    5 units apart
    makes the two lines from the corner a
    perfect 90deg angle.
    This gives you the guide to draw your walls perfectly square.
    I wish the best for you kids, love your show.

    Congrats! Humble suggestion: consider a ranch style, one level to begin and add on as needed. If you are going to have kids, trust me-it’s easier and safer than a loft situation. Also, if you are going to grow old in the house or if either of you are nursing an injury, a bedroom on the first level is a godsend! Think it through for the long term now!

      Let me second that!!!!! All on one level with 36" doors for each room. Wheel chairs, walkers, and crutches, not to mention moving furniture in-n-out of each room. Get out pen-n-paper and draw, draw, draw.

    • @SavannahNewsome
      @SavannahNewsome 2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely! The master on the ground floor is a must! We just finished our forever home and also made sure our doors on the ground floor were wide enough for a wheelchair. We hope we’ll never need one, but injuries happen and we won’t be young forever

    • @jjudy5869
      @jjudy5869 2 роки тому +4

      Let me add one more suggestion. Build a scale model. Boy, did that bring into focus some the construction/design flaws we didn't 'see' while doing the drawings. I went to Hobby Lobby and got a bunch of little sticks in different thicknesses to cut for our 2x4 construction. If you are using concrete blocks maybe Lego's might work.

    I've been a hunter all my life : my parents hunt, as well as my grandparents. The difference between horns and antlers is something I learned at a very young age here in Quebec, Canada. Moose and deer have antlers : they grow and fall every year. In french, we call them 'woods'. Cows and sheep have horns : they grow forever, either straight up, out or in a curve.
    I also don't want to give advice where none was asked for, but I would recommend for Barron to keep his bow holding arm up after he shoots for a little longer, since his movement bringing his arm down can affect the arrow's trajectory. My father taught me when I learned bow hunting that you need to ''see through your shot'' meaning you look at where you're shooting and don't moove until the arrow is well into it's target. Hope this is well received ^^
    So excited for you in this amazing and inspiring project !

  • @epicvoxygames

    I believe it was Barron who recently said Antlers fall off/shed each year and horns do not. Horns are a covering that is supposed to stay put, but unfortunately can fall off in accidents or poor health leaving an exposed, sensitive stump. I'm a long time viewer, from the beginning, and have to say 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉Seeing you achieve the land, and soon building a home is SO WONDERFUL! As a fellow content creator I know how hard prepping, setup, filming, editing etc is, so THANK YOU for your hard work and taking your time to share your lives with us. I've watched your channel since the beginning, and then as well as now, there is such a sense of adventure and fun, yet relaxing comfort that your videos bring. They bring a sense of wonder, and hope, and proof that even in a tiny scamp you can have a massively HUGE life. The best things come in small packages...it leaves room for the rest of life!! Best wishes my friends! Give Scamp a few pets for me, and we will always remember Scamps Motto: "Go go go!!"

    Awesome video! I'm excited to see the home building process. To throw my hat in the horns vs antlers ring, horns are bony protrusions with a core that grow from the skull of horned animals and are never shed, whereas antlers are also bony masses but are shed annually. Antlers usually branch out in different directions, but horns don't branch out.

    Cassava root comes from the Yuca plant, it's a lot like a potato. It would be interesting if they made a sweet suryp out of it, as they aren't sweet. They're actually used as a substitute for potatoes in a lot of recipes for people who are trying to avoid potatoes for whatever reason. There is also a really nice pasta substitute made out of just cassava. But again, not sweet. Maybe they're using it for some kind of other savory flavor element? Though rice isn't sweet either, and they can make a sweet suryp out of it apparently so maybe it is! I'm guessing the primary sweetness is from the stevia though, that stuff is super super sweet.
