Always loved the start-up cutscene, where the camera swoops through the city to show you all of the logos of the companies involved, topped off with Daxter scampering up the "Jak II" logo and plugging in the outlets to light it up You don't see any games do that anymore, even Naughty Dog. Everyone just plasters the logos into some pre-rendered animation.
the small things like the facial expressions in the cutscenes, how beautiful the graphic style looks on the ps2..just all these things, the humor..almost forgot that.. the humor in the game is awesome. This is my childhood and they knew how to make masterpiece games, so happy my childhood or the ps2 had freeking amazing games.
19:30 Jak 2 was my first semi-large open world game as a kid. Escaping the sewers, landing into haven city, and roaming the streets for the first time was overwhelming, disorienting, scary, and exciting. I image it was exactly how Jak must have felt too. One of the most immersive video game moments for me as child.
i simply LOVE how the track changes depending on what youre doing If you have a gun it sounds a lot more intense, bring out your jetboard you get a sweet exciting beat. Amazing.
Right? It’s such a cool concept and adds layers to the immersion. When I think about it I honestly can’t think of another game off the top of my head that does this
The composer for Jak 2 is the same one for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. That's why Sargasso and Haven City's soundtracks sound very similar. He most definitely took inspiration from the masterpiece he worked on in 2002
I grew up without internet and all I had was my Trusty PS2 and a copy of Jak 2 & 3 and needless to say I played that game non stop. Even when I had done everything in the game I would still play it just to have fun and drive around whether it be in haven city on a hover bike or in the desert in a buggy. This game gave me so many good memories and it pains me to know that we will never see a new jak game.
1:50:35 You know its funny. despite my disliking for the forest levels, I actually admired the scenery and most importantly...The music. I grew up on the precursor legacy and being in the forest with scenery similar to the first jak game and the music felt nostalgic. now im looking back at the jak series and feeling nostalgic all together XD
i think my favourite thing about this vid is how over half of it is just the Eco Mine, Drill Platform, Dig, because those are the missions my ass struggled with the most and the music I remember most violently. Thank you for being a true Jak fan and sharing in the pain.
First game and the second one..so difficult for me to say which one I like to most but I think jak 2 is the better game. Jak and daxter 1 had a really great story and platforming though.
back then games used to be made with integrity. It wasn't all about one thing but the overall experience and is why Jak is enjoyed by a wide and unique audience.
I know this comment is from half a year ago, but man I have to agree. didn't see enough people talking about this one. apparently it was unused according to the description? or at least that it was a beta version of the song or something... but it really does have that adventure/epic feeling while still maintaining the bounciness of jak 1. a nice transition into the darker themes of 2. I wish they kept it in.
I've been Building a productivity app for gamers for the last 6 months listening to this - it goes so hard! always get into the groove when the blaster / hoverboard highs come in. Glad to see so many people around the world resonate with this game! I never personally knew anyone who loved J & D as much as I did.
Seriously underrated game and series with such masterful music! I really do hope that Naughty Dog makes Jak 4 on the PS5. They would sell like crazy and they honestly need some good PR after dropping LoU 2 in most fans' eyes.
This game was brilliant. A much shorter me was kind of blown away playing the first Jak - I even had that demo disc with the trailer on it that got me so excited. Inside my Ratchet and Clank or Sly Raccoon game case there was a leaflet advert thing for this. So then I got hyped up all over again and this masterpiece did not disappoint.

Thanks for going to all this trouble.
