I have a feeling they did the Speed Test because of MFJJ (Podium Archery) calling out manufacturers on their claimed speed ratings on his bow review videos.
Kudos PJ for realistic speed test and accompanying explanation.
The new cams remind me of the old Monster XLR8, design. Loved those cams on the older model, but these are a definite winner for me! Can't wait to start shooting the new series bow
Looks nice!
I was hoping for a lower front stabilizer mount this year.
But, still a really nice bow!
Great job Mathews
Great job as always! Thanks for your hard work 😓👍🥰
Great job PJ and awesome shooting at 60 yds. Wish I could do that. Your review are awesome Buddy!
Top quality review…. As always. Thank you !
Awesome bow and review! About time they put a good camo pattern on there bows!!👌
Good looking bow…well designed as always. Thanks PJ.
Great review and explanation of the technology 🤘🏾
Over the past couple of years there hasn't been big changes in the bows companies were putting out but this year is huge. Big changes for almost every company, especially PSE and Mathews. Definitely the year to buy a new bow.
Excited for shotsense. I don't have a pro shop for hours around me and am entirely self taught. Hoping this helps my form.
Always fun reviews
Mathews is about to "Lift" more money out of my bank account....and I am all for it!
Hahahahahaha
Yeah 1400 & some change for the 33”. Enjoy 😂
@@suzgabverdugo933 pass lol
@@suzgabverdugo933 only the pros with sponsors who pay for everything will have these bows

Hi there! As always, excellent review. I think one thing you forgot to mentioned was the brace height on each bow. Good review.
Love it PJ! They are a great shooting platform.. 🤙🏼🤙🏼 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🦃🍽️
Awesome video
Thanks
I’m digging whoever the new video editors are! Great review.
This is the one time where being 11 inches instead of 1.5 inches is not good lol keep it up bud great videos
Shot one yesterday, went with the Hoyt alpha x 30. The Mathews is light but has a rough draw cycle
Whoever your editor is is killing it with these videos.
Just ordered the 33…The wait begins!
Neat. I hope the limbs last. Everything else looks cool. I like the feedback device. I need some of that.
Great review! Can we get a comparison between Matthews Lift and Elite Era?
PJ we would like to see a video explaining how to shoot wearing eye glasses. You know for us that have had a lot of birthdays.
That price though! The bare bow is on par with everyone else…but just the bridge lock stabilizers are 250 each and the bar mount is 200. 700 bucks just for stabilizers😮
Hey PJ what are those backstops? Also sweet bows! Might have to check them out!
I enjoy these reviews much more. Btw I have no doubt PJ enjoys this party of his job also.
Bye any chance are you shooting with progressive lens glasses? I’m having a terrible time with mine. Thanks
They are rating this new bow at 80 lb. And when I punch the numbers they're getting through the Chrono into a calculator this comes out to about 337 feet per second.
Bowtech axle? Grip is cool and the bow seems quiet and accurate. Thanks lancaster for the review!
Grip is the first thing most shooters remove though.
@@Rikcey that's true. I shoot a shrewd on my chill x. Still haven't seen a reason to upgrade...
Good day. Love the videos. Tell me I’ve heard that you need to back the limbs out before pressing. Is this true?
No
@@LancasterArcherySupply as I thought thank you
Everybody flexing the Garmin Xero except me LOL....
Did Mathews partner with Mantis? Love my mantis and great to see something like this integrated. Good tools improve shooters especially on a hunting bow.
What’s mantis
Great Review PJ ! What's the Bow Sight ?
Thanks
HHA Tetra Max Ryz in the new Cerakote finish....great sights!
THANK YOU !@@LancasterArcherySupply
Looking at jumping back in, first its sad to see all these bows test so far under their rating, and really not much faster at all if any than my 20+ year old Hoyt Smoke with 32" draw ( 74lbs iirc)..
Have i lost my mind or did the IBO rating change? It i thought used to IBO had the standard 30" draw at 70lb with a 5gpi arrow aka 350? And AMO we referred to as hunting weight?
Did IBO have to change with parallel limbs and 80lbs more common? Also is 5gpi still the minimum before risking the bow or can you go lighter than 5gpi per lb since just lookint at it more energy seems to come from the cams vs limb movement..as such does one still get the power stroke advantage i enjoyed at a longer draw length ( i mean my Hoyt shot well above its rating 342 iirc limbs cranked down and 32 in what 1999?) Or can it hinder speed due to cam travel for optimum power stroke...hurt accuracy ect aka is it a detriment...
The 31.5" off the 33 with a loop would probably fit me perfectly, and id guess considering there was only real world fps difference at 70/30/350 in this test id be 340+ on the 33? Probably 300 flat with a 450ish grain arrow?
Damn lot to re-learn im super excited about the state of sights, rest and well 85% let off vs 55 lol
The compound game is getting to advanced for my liking…Time for a Recurve and getting back to my Roots 🤘
what release are you using?
the shot sense is basically a mantis x (for guns) modified for bows
Like the new color and bows look great but still absolutely huge bows...even the 29 is larger than a normal 33" and a 33" is 8" longer than other 33" bows.... Nice that these are lighter though..still huge..after holding the new 33 it feels the same weight as the P4 33..
I noticed the same thing. I am not sure how large PJ is, but the 33 looks like a massive bow, much larger than my Pro Defiant 34
That’s because the risers are as long as the axle to axle and the limbs are parallel to the riser. This helps stability. Other companies have shorter risers and the limbs angle upwards, so they appear smaller. But realistically at the longest measurement point they are the same height as the Mathews.
Like 👍.
Wish solid colors a tad DARKER
Is it just me or did anyone else hear the buzz on the 29.5 PJ was shooting? Something sounded loose.
Howz it compare to the rx8?
If you're looking at the Matthews lift bow. I'd recommend shooting it first against other bows. It is super light and is fairly fast. But I just shot that bow yesterday and was excited to shoot it because of all the reviews on it. I was extremely disappointed with that bow. There's no way in any world I would buy that bow. Draw back was horrible, shooting it was exhausting, and it kept wanting to shoot forwar when I wasn't even close to ready to let go of the arrow as I was holding it back . Never had a bow do that to me before.. and iv been shooting my whole life. and it was adjusted to my 28" draw. All 3 of us who tried that bow couldn't wait to stop shooting it. This bow isn't as good as they make it out to be.
Mathews needs a mod and cam buy back program for shops...
PJ what pound bow are you shooting nowadays? I'm really leaning toward a 55 or 50 pound bow.
70 pounds....
What sights are those?
Does the original top hat kit like the v3x work on the lift?
Yes
Those are actually pretty good “ATA” numbers considering when they typically publish those ATA speed ratings, the remove the peep & monkey tails. 330’s real world numbers is pretty quick.
Comparing the new Mathews and the new Elites, which bow would be coming home with you?
I also want to know this comparison
Match strings look strangely similar to Gas 🤔 also, folks have been asking Mathews for a new grip, so they make the same grip but added a computer...
These companies are cranking bows out to fast
127 texts PJ 😂
They should make the lift in a single cam with 7 inch brace.
Is this as quiet as the phase 4 and V3?
Hard to tell from audio on UA-cam but I would say it isn’t as quite from the video.
What is the name of the sight on the 29.5?
HHA Tetra Max Ryz Cerakote
What sight is that you are shooting?
It’s the new HHA Tetra Max Ryz cerakote
Feel like this is the year to buy a new bow small changes over the past few models and then something new. Also how sick is that original bottomland
Man I wish they would bring back the grey color
I don't know why companies still inflate their speed numbers to such a ridiculous degree.
There should be a new standard where bows are tested at realistic conditions, 30", 70# with a 350 and a 450gr arrow, with a 6gr peep and a loop attached to the string.
It might take a few years for customers to adjust, but in time a 320fps speed rating for anything with 6.5" brace or more will be considered very quick.
I have also noticed that the higher the numbers are, the more fudged they are as well. For example, most Hoyt bows shoot pretty close to their advertised ratings. However, no 350fps+ bow from Hoyt has ever come close to the official numbers.
With Mathews, it seems to be the same thing. The 29.5 is way off, the 33" not that much, eventhough it's not even at it's maxed out cam position.
What sight is that?
HHA Tetra Ryz Max cerakote
Speeds mean nothing to me
What matters is stability and forgiveness
Is there any news to the problems with the chinese ball bearings and torn module screws?
On Kings of Archery there was a customer with 4 bows with these problems and the representant on the local Mathews exibition stand denied it.
In the end JVD offered to change the 8 cams.
that is the longest d loop I have ever seen
Need a lower stabilizer mounting option
Technically they do with the bridge lock above the standard stab bushing lol, I know what you mean,& I concur
Slower than my Vertix. Great that they lightened it up, but I'm not looking to lose speed at my short draw length.
Curious what your specs are? My vertix is 303fps @ 70lbs, 30” draw, 350 gr arrow. This bow is much quicker
@@jethro450 They are rating this new bow at 80 lb, not 70. And when I punch the numbers they're getting through the Chrono into a calculator this comes out to about 337 feet per second.
@@nathanscheuman4263 did you watch the full video? He shot it through a chronograph and was getting 330fps using the 33 Lift using the same exact setup I have, which just so happens to be the same setup used for ATA specs when testing speed. 30” draw, 350 gr arrow. 70lb.
That’s my setup too.
He got ~330 fps
My Vertix, same setup, shoots 303 fps.
The Lift is faster by quite a bit than the vertix. 27 fps faster to be exact
If you punch the numbers he got into an archery arrow speed calculator it puts the IBO right at 337. If you go back and look at speed tests for the Vertix it's right in the same ballpark. Not sure about your numbers
@nathanscheuman4263 speed rating and what it actually shoots is two different things and the vertix ain't shooting that fast. Go shoot through a chrono and see what it real world shoots
I don't like the aesthetics, with those limbs flexing in that much you lose so much in the cam stance and thus string angle. I don't know. Bow technology seems stagnant, we're at peak performance and they all try to sell stuff you don't need (I mean, all pros torque tune, but no integrated rest can move (and picatinny mounted sights cannot move either).
I guess that should make archers happy though, no need to upgrade means more practice with what you have.
One day mathews needs to make rotating mods
I hope to have Japan send LIFT 33
Unless you got the 2 ratings crossed when did IBO change. It has always been 30'x 70lb x 350gr.
That's what I thought.
It didn't it's still ibo standards.
80 lbs 31.5 inch 400 gr arrow? Silly exaggeration of speed... Trying to make it look faster than it is
Hopefully the new axle position fixes the horrible Mathews string angle. But bows are well made and shoot good. Good set it and forget it type bows ..anything else you have to pay more
Huh? How do you have a bad string angle with how massively large those cams are? Lol
Perkins holds 1.5” at 100 wowww I hold 10” at 20 hahahaha I’m a shaky bastard
to me the phase 4 sounds much quieter in every video ive seen soo far.
They look nice but nothing compared to my carbon era.
Why did you sky draw lol
PS, I don't see many people going out and shooting a deer with a 350 grain arrow at 70 lbs. The average hunting arrow is 400 plus. Bring in true speeds, with a true hunting arrow. They don't do it because the speeds would be a lot lower. Let's say 80 lbs 30 in draw a real sub 400 to 500 grain arrow....would net roughly 300 fps or under. Their bows would still sell....why are they bring bare minimum arrow grains and max lbs to get a certain speed?
😂😂😂 these speeds are hilarious to me. At 26 in draw, the speed of matthews or any other bow is not within my cards. It doesn't make any sense, but if it sells...which they will oh well. I wish someone would make a True short draw cam instead of saying you're getting maximum efficiency out of mods....
The speed ain’t even close to what they say . I seen MFJJ also do a speed test and shoot the same 15-17 FPS slower then what Mathew’s says it is.
You apparently don’t understand the difference between ata and ibo. Mathews has stated they are rated at ibo specs 80 pounds max draw length. He explained this in the video. Watch the video instead of just leaving comments that show you are not listening.
Apparently I do That’s just dumb they know there not that fast so they are giving false hope to archers by saying IBO to shoot 80 plus pounds with a 400 grain arrow and over 30” draw to accomplish that speed and I bet set up IBO still ain’t touching 348 but it’s what it is Mathew’s has always been overrated and over priced .
If IBO speed was automatically at the longest DL then why does Mathews bother to specify that the 350 fps speed rating of the Atlas is at 34?”
Seems I remember that IBO and ATA used to have similar rules for speed ratings but, IBO had more room to fudge the numbers.
@@mikereed845 ibo uses 80 pounds max drawlength the bow offers, and a 400 grain arrow.
@@mikereed845 they specify this is at 34 inches so if a 29.5 inch shooter buys an atlas. They don’t call them saying why isn’t my bow shooting 350.
Bogus u have to spend more $ to get adapters just to press the bow
Can they make something us the working man can afford . I sell parts so I don't got a bad job either . Just damn
You don’t got a bad job. What do you sell. This is the flagship bow. There are budget bows on the market. Also you can get a older Mathews that was a flagship at the time that’s still amazing biw for a great price.
Yeah I’ll sell you my Vertix with everything (sight, stabilizer, rest, quiver, new string) for $500. Color is black.
Stop eating little Debbie’s and save the money. You will be able to afford one in no time.
match strings.....hmmm..they still are not serving the ends...they are the only ones doing that..let me guess, its more efficient.
What a dud of a supposedly speed bow!
Ill stick with my Hoyt Carbon Twin Turbo. Everyone ive met who says they cant justify spending that money on a bow are the same people who buy a new aluminum bow every year or 2.
You mean your carbon bow that’s heavier than this aluminum bow. That has none of the features this bow has. Shoot you’re Hoyt if you’re happy with it. If the folks watching this video wanted to hear about it they would watch a Hoyt review.
1:30 "why do they do modules?" To make you buy more stuff!! Smh!!..... NEVER would I buy a Mathews when you have to press it to change top hats out for tuning!!!!!! Complete BS!!! Can't believe they haven't went to a system like bowtech!!
Buy new fingers for my press so I can press it? .....no thanks.
Nice bow but still use of crappy mods that cost more money just to change draw lengths...old old old tech
Do your rotating mods take your limbs from 55 to 80 pounds with out a limb swap? Nope see what a set of limbs will cost you. Rotating mods are not as strong, as well as the fact that they perform well at longer settings than shorter settings. Mathews mods make sure every draw length gets peak performance. Mathews has had rotating mods for over a decade. On there mission youth bows where they belong.
Mathews is getting stupid on their prices and that includes their overpriced stabilizers. I’d hate to see the price for that grip sensor. I think I’m going to check out the competition and see what they have. I love my Halon 6 and it will probably be the last mathews bow I buy.
You don’t have to buy there stabilizers…. Shrewd vantage is what I have no need to buy their bridge lock system.
$1299 phase 4 and the lift is $30 more @ $1329 cheaper than Hoyt and some flagship PSE….
Honestly go check it out they are maybe the same or even more EX. Hoyt
@@TommGunzz probably seems expensive like everything else. I keep forgetting that everything has gotten expensive.
They are all getting to expensive I worked in a bow shop for about 8 years and most customers bought a new bow every year at these prices I think that's going to stop .
I think all bow manufacturer list their speed at ibo, but only mathews' 'ibo' vs true speed is slower than other bow mnufacturer
Actually most manufacturers list ATA speeds
Another arm chair expert. Spouting ignorance.😂
@@jasonbarnes3188 how about another mathews fanboy who cant accept the truth?
@@LancasterArcherySupply He is right. PSE has IBO listed on their website. Bowtech has IBO listed on theirs as well, "The IBO speed advertised is achieved with a 70lb bow with a 350 grain arrow".
@@seniorvendetta96 how bout another douche bag who doesn’t like a bow company, but has to watch all there reviews anyway. You people can’t seem to understand that Mathews is testing the bows by ibo standards. 80 pounds 400 grain arrow at max draw length. Most if not all competitors are testing by ata standards 70 pounds 30 inch draw 350 grain arrow. Just because they advertise an ibo speed. Does not mean they are testing at ibo standards. Pj explains this very well during the video.
Did you watch the video. Or do you just have an issue understanding simple explanations.
Dog slow lol nice bows otherwise.
Since when is 330 plus slow. It’s still faster than most and that is at 85% let off
@@jasonbarnes3188 @jasonbarnes3188 When they are selling it as 348fps, 330fps isn't even close. Be more honest about it. 330fps on a 6" brace height isn't very fast at all.
Have to change a module just to change the draw weight... WTF is that... HARD PASS. Are they trying to make the bow more difficult to tune? They already have the stupidest system in the world with those dumb top hats.. Its like they said - hey how else can we make our equipment more difficult to tune... and their lead engineer said.... hold my beer...
Get the required parts to test IBO...
You are a retailer so be easy enough... Instead of this foolishness 🤸
Furthermore the 29.5 is listed as up to 348fps and the 33 as to 343fps
But with ibo the 33 has 1.5" of DL to generate speed with. Weird no?
Mathews always made it seem like there bows are faster than they are
Super quiet!! Twannnnnggg!!!!
Right 😂sounds loud AF
I’m wearing a lapel mic so when I release the string is inches from the mic. You gotta hear it in person…..stupid quiet
