      I'd be shocked if mantis didn't develop shot sense because its a clone of mantis x8. I picked up the mantis x8 from nock-on over black Friday for 75$ and I can mount it on my mathew's, hoyt, and elite bows. Mantis x8 has been around since at least 2020 and it's been overlooked in the archery industry, mathew's rebrands it as "shot sense" and all the mathew's fanboys are going crazy like this concept is something new.

    The only thing that would really benefit you more it if you had a grip that left a dimple or 2 into your palm for example the Bomar nose button spikes. You will gain hard index points with the grip, and repeatable torque. You'd eventually have a permanent dimple on your hand though.

    Interesting way to notice trends in your shooting. I’m curious though how much anxiety and potential TP this may induce in some people. You know you’re a good shot, Dan, but you can also tell that what the app was telling you bugged you. Bugged you enough to second guess your levels (which admittedly were slightly off.) How much will utilizing this technology create more internal chaos…? Time will tell.

    This is very much like mantis x for firearms, thing about these tools they don’t see the target, target can be great 10 ring, but score in app is low do to bad form. It’s watching for over travel trigger punching time on target etc

    • @ambiguity22
      @ambiguity22 5 місяців тому

      it is the exact copy of the Mantis system, the technology is the same, it just has a different UI for the app. and you are correct, the "bullseye" in the app is just a "target" that references your shot release on center. in my mind it's misleading for people who do t understand that. the technology has no idea where you are aiming, just what the movement looks like. So it is easy for someone to look at the shot track and think "oh, I'm always coming in from the left and top, better compensate!" it's misleading to think of it that way.

    Detailed Summary
    Section 1
    00:00:00
    The speaker talks about the Shot Sense app and the Shot Sense device, which is used for advanced shot analysis in archery. The app provides real-time feedback on factors such as bow torque, shot process duration, and trigger control. The speaker unboxes the Shot Sense device and discusses its features, including a shot counter and a rating system for archery skills. They then proceed to set up the device and the accompanying app, demonstrating the process of pairing and calibrating the device. The speaker expresses excitement about the potential of the Shot Sense app and device to provide valuable feedback for archers, comparing it to wearable technology for monitoring physical activity. They also mention the potential for the app to serve as a substitute for an archery coach. The video ends with the successful setup of the device and app.

  • @ToddPNW
    @ToddPNW 5 місяців тому

    It's interesting as technology continues to integrate itself into the archery world. In states like mine, Washington, it's still 100% illegal to have ANY type of electronics on your bow. Of course, this is just in a hunting situation, but we now see electronics being integrated into sights, stock bows, etc, out the box. It might be time to update regs to accommodate electronics that don't assist in hunting.
    Also, it makes me skeptical of gimmicks to just bump up prices. Not to be that guy, though I am also skeptical of companies all wanted their app on your phone for data farming. Would be interesting to know what permissions the app request. Looks cool though and community options are also great.

  • @Trihope
    @Trihope 5 місяців тому

    I feel like it would be much better if there was a way the target could have a sensor so the shot sense knows where the target is. That would provide much more valuable information. Who cares what the scores is if you are hitting bull eyes everytime. And unless my understanding is wrong, the “target” is just a representation of where you aimed in space and where the bow was aimed when you released the arrow. It doesn’t account for so many factors.

    • @ToddPNW
      @ToddPNW 5 місяців тому

      This was my thought as well. It doesn't actually know the framing/angle of the target, it implies it just from being level. I don't see how this would be effective when shooting on angles that throw this off. That's why in the video it shows his "pattern" off to the left even though he his center.

    So how would you use this to improve? I understand the numbers but if you’re shooting 11 after 11 and maxing at 85%. Are you going to tinker and try to get more consistent based on the read out or just keep an eye on it? Also doesn’t it have an MOA rating per group? I’m curious about it but not sure the info will translate into much improvement.

    • @the_sharp_carpenter
      @the_sharp_carpenter 5 місяців тому

      It's about shooting performance not score. Once you're shooting well the score is simple sight adjustments etc. you can have a completely terrible form and bad shot execution and hit X's at 20 consistently. However if you try that same thing (bow out of level, torque, trigger punching) you won't be able to make accurate shots outside at distance or on uphill and downhill shots. So improving your shot mechanics allows you to be a better archer overall.

      @@the_sharp_carpenter I've used it and I agree with you. it helps to identify specific problems (torque, not paying attention to your level, movement patterns as you come to target, how steady you hold on target, etc.) that can be very useful to identify specific drills and exercises to improve your shooting. People are naturally going to dislike it because a.) it costs $350, and b.) it introduces digital technology to an analog activity. For those that don't perceive value: don't buy one. If you don't want the data and you wouldn't know what to do with it anyway, than this device is not for you.

    • @the_sharp_carpenter
      @the_sharp_carpenter 5 місяців тому

      @@jebstuart1323 yep you can be sighted in for torque at certain distances but when the distances change, or you switch to broad heads it all changes. Not saying it's a must for anyone just explaining why some might find it useful. This isn't the first of its kind on the market.
