How Austin installs a hard drive: so you just plug in these 2 things, screw it in and format it. How I install a hard drive: ok, so first we need to remove my oversized gpu blocking the SATA ports by spending half an hour getting out screws blocked by the casing. Then we need to unplug the pci express and have the gpu fall down into the casing, then we fuggily get it back up into a safe spot. Then we get to install the drive by trying to fit square pins into circular screw holes, then we plug in the cables. THEN we spend another half an hour getting those screws back in then we realize that those were gpu screws so we didn't need to remove them in the first place and we still leave one screw kind of loose (it'll be fine). NOW we get to format it.

Hi. My question is how to get a replaced hard drive to boot up and go into windows. Because I really wanted to save the data on the hard drive from a 2002 Dell Windows XP desktop computer that went out on me and no longer booted up and stayed on, I took that hard drive and put it into a 2004 Dell Windows XP desktop computer hoping it would just boot up and work. The replaced hard drive in the 2004 Dell read the hard drive but it would not go into Windows. It just goes round and round saying "how do you want to start your Windows?". Can you give me some advice on how I can possibly get my replaced hard drive to work in the Dell 2004 I just got???? I'm aware it might be a longshot. Thank you kindly.... - James
This is a late response, and you probably already solved your problem, but are you referring to the space that holds your hard drive? If that's what you're talking about, then you can't buy them separately. The case already comes equipped with those drives bays.
What is the cable you slide into the connection to the power supply? I've realised now that I don't have that type of cable, only type 4 to PCle which doesn't work with my HDD. Cheers.
Been a follower for like 2 years now, now I got a desktop, I want to upgrade it and the first tutorial that comes up is Austin, could not be more confortable with this :3
Just a tip for whoever reads this, don't put your HDDs close together like that if you can avoid it. If you have the space then let them breathe, HDDs generate heat so you want them to have space between them if possible.

You should still be able to see the data from the old HDD. It will show up as a disk drive in file explorer. In some instances, it may not show up at first and you may have to initialize the drive through Disk Management.
