Being 5 years old and the only vhs we had was Flubber, he was never not entertaining to watch in any of his films. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but the man had a heart of gold and a beautiful mind, I loved watching the man's performances my whole life; I can't say that about too many comedians/actors that I'm a huge fan of now. Understandable if you don't have that type of attachment to him but allot of people do.
Imagine Robin on stage or an interview talking about COVID-19 and the constant quarantining we have to do, he would make it hilarious just off the cuff.
Met Mr. Williams at a famous toy store in San Francisco. He was scanning comic books and I was across from him. I said “Hey, has anyone ever said ‘you look like Robin Williams?’.” He replied “Yah, my mom” he continued to shot the shit with me and waited for his kids to finish shopping. I was just watching some clips from Good Will Hunting earlier. Good God, the man was hilarious but he could also make you want to cry. A beautiful and talented soul. We were lucky to have had him.
Good Will Hunting was a great move that Robin Williams turned into an instant classic. The park bench scene is my favorite monologue in all of film. My second favorite is Quint’s USS Indianapolis speech in Jaws.
My friend worked on the TV show "The Crazy Ones," which was one of the last projects Robin worked on before he died. I was invited to LA for the post-production wrap party and it was absolutely surreal -- Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Jr sat next to me on a sofa and I was petrified to make eye contact, and I also got to hang out with Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore and met Chris D'elia's dad (yikes!). I met a lot of production members and EVERYONE said he was the nicest celebrity they had worked with. A true class act and as someone who grew up watching his movies, I truly miss his presence in the world.
That dude was awesome, I was in iraq 03-04 our tour got stretched out to 18 months at 11-12 month point, morale was dead, he dropped by out of fuckin nowhere and had everyone rolling. he stayed beyond last minute, bodyguards or whoever was handling him literally pushing him away out of building as he keeps hitting us with jokes, could make humor out of anything he was ripping on all our higher ups appearance on way out. that dude brought laughs to the most serious tired, burned out and angry peoples. injected joy and laughs into frustration and despair. True Comedic Genius, i'm grateful to have experienced it first hand. It a shame he is gone, he could lift anyone out of sadness and make them forget about their own demons but couldn't face his own, RIP
Robins role in the movie "Worlds Greatest Dad" was so haunting to watch after his passing. I still get very emotional watching the film. I'm thankful that Mr Williams decided to share his talents with the world while he was with us.
Forrest Whittaker was in that opening scene. You could see genuine joy. Such a great movie. I was part of the Signal Corps 15th BG. There is a section in the Signal Corps Museum dedicated to the real life DJ and Robin Williams.
I practically grew up with Robin. When he first appeared on Happy Days. Saw him live at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco with Miller and Whoopie. Best $25 I ever spent. My ribs were aching when I left the show. When I heard about his death, it was via Instagram on Vogue Brazil's feed. Brazil! It was worldwide news instantly! I couldn't believe it. But when I thought about it, it wasn't so hard to believe. Genius usually comes with a cost. And the bigger the genius.... Robin was one of the best that humanity had to offer. Far more than what he had to offer creatively. An amazing, lovely, person. The best.
I spent a few months with him 12 years ago, he had SOOOO MUCH ENERGY inside of him, he was a smaller guy but when he would read out loud and tell a story...he had so much magic. He told his personal story of the past sitting next to me for about an hour, he was a real human dealing with real human tough life events. Robin was a amazing creative person that always wanted the next creative project, zero ego bullshit. It was a gift for me to spend that time with him
Robin Williams could do an interview and completely hijack it, in the most beautiful way ever. He went to Juilliard, mixed the training with his raw talent and became an improvizational god. There's one clip, Inside The Actors Studio (I think). He took a damn scarf and went into character, a lady in the front row nearly died of laughter. I'm South African and it just shows how great the man was, he reached hearts all over the world. I've seen every single one of films and he's stand-up is legendary too. Oh, and please go watch Dead Poets Society.
The charecters he was able to play. Like One Hour Photo, Good Morning Vietnam, good will Hunting, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack, Patch Adams, Mork from Ork, All so different. One of the best comedians of all time & one of the best actors in my lifetime.
I started doing stand up in the mid 70s in LA at the Comedy Store and got to know Robin. A few years later I ran into him on the Paramount lot and he invited me to hang out while he was shooting Mork and Mindy. He was such an incredible force and at the same time gentle person.
His comedy was a flow state that branched out. Each line of hilarious thought led to a deeper layer of other hilarious thoughts, and it seamingly sprung up out of him. Dude was an absulolute genius
I never laughed at him on stage once. It just baffled me that everyone thought a coke head wearing suspenders and rambling was funny. Then wokring in comedy clubs back in the day, finding out he was mining unknown comics for material and was just a douche...oy. I do think his dramatic acting was extraordinary. Genius level.
@@travismiller1491 Even if he did, he was still a hell of a lot funnier than Joe Rogan could ever hope to be. In every interview I've seen him in he'd take the whole damn thing over. None of the hosts could keep up with him, so I know Joe Rogan wouldn't be able to.
Robin Williams is my favourite Comedian slash Actor of all time. I was born in the mid/late 80's so I was a child during the 1990's and my favourite two childhood movies of ALL-TIME are Mrs. Doubtfire and Hook. Jumanji is a good movie but isn't close to as good as Hook or Mrs Doubtfire. Hook is to me is one of the best childhood movies ever. Heck I'm in my early 30s now and I just watched Hook a couple months ago. Williams was one of the best comedic actors of all time. I never cry in my life but I did the day he died, Williams touched so many lives across the country and was such a great person from what I've heard about him, no one has a bad thing to say about the guy.
Good morning Vietnam is another cult classic. My father LOVED that movie, he was a Vietnam vet himself. I loved that movie. Joe is right when he says he had such great range as an actor.
So many classics from Robin too many to name off but Mrs. Doubtfire will always have a special place in my heart. I watch that movie and it's like I'm watching it for the first time laughing at everything. I'm happy that I got to witness that man's greatness growing up.
I was less sad about the deaths of people I actually know. I was like "Well, I guess it was just their time." Not so with Robin Williams. It's rare to feel connected with someone so deeply, and he did it from the other side of the screen or radio. It's called brilliance.
I think Robin was a national treasure and in many ways a guiding spirit to multiple generations. I’m happy we didn’t have to watch his beautiful mind unravel and see an almost vacant face bear only hints of sorrow. We can now only remember him as he was; a man who gave us all he had. And he was a man who had so much.
Robin Williams did a cameo appearance on Law and Order and it was the single greatest thing I’ve ever seen. He was unbelievable. Super underrated as an actor.
It’s amazingly rare to look at comments on a celebrity and see nothing but love. What an amazing affect Robin had on people. My guess is because he let his work speak for him. So rare these days.
I met a man who runs one of the top private security companies, doing security for all kinds of celebrities. He said their black list was full of celebrity assholes who would start fights and expect security to finish them -- and Robin Williams. However, the reason Robin was on their blacklist was because he was so insanely funny that he would make the team laugh so hard it was a liability for them, because the guys couldn't focus. True story.
Robin was known to visit my hometown in the summer, he’d be spotted grabbing breakfast and reading the local news. He liked it here because it was so lowkey and for the most part he was left alone
Can you please have huge UFO panel with all of those guests you’ve had over the years Bob lazar, George knapp, Jeremy corbel, Christopher Mellon, James fox, Travis Walton, Jacques Vallée, David fravor, and anyone else you find. I think that would be amazing!
I'd disagree with that format. For me, the magic is a long conversation with just two people. It does work - Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock work very well together - but if you had a bunch of people on a panel I feel it never gets to go really deep into a topic.
my depression was literally caused by lack of sunshine I had a vitamin D deficiency a decade ago I was obese(452lbs.),and was type 2 diabetes my doctor put me on 50,000 i.u.of vitamin D twice weekly. now I weigh 205,barely remember my depression, and I'm about to go jogging
I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone. _Robin Williams
Whenever I watch a JRE video, I have a few more tabs open to research/lookup the amazing things you get to know. Informational and entertaining. That's all you need from a show.
Robin William's death was one of the most universally impactful deaths I can remember. So many people felt a connection to him...he left a massive hole.
His death was really hard on me , watching him all my childhood such a man ex sister & I never got a chance to meet him .. I still think about him all the time I dont think any other death hit me so hard apart from my own family & friends..
Between Carlin and Williams no one could wax poetic and make you laugh more at political jokes. Their understanding let them rain comedy gold down on our countries political circus.
This will seem controversial but I don't think Robin Williams's death was a tragedy. It was the onset of his dementia that was the real tragedy. He bowed out on his own terms while he still could and I respect that.
When a man loved by so many dies alone it is a tragedy. impromptu hanging after failed wrist slashing isn't exactly "bowing out" . it is an act of desperation after others have bowed out.
Yeah I read that his Lewy Body dementia had progressed to the point where he would try to walk through a door, bump into the door frame, then immediately collapse and shit himself. After being at the incredible highs he once had been, that must have been impossible to swallow.
Robin Williams' interview on The Actor's Studio w/James Lipton from 2001 is a fantastic example of just how humble, intelligent, creative, personable, and hilarious Robin truly was....you wanna learn about Robin Williams, search for that episode of The Actor's Studio....
I'm not saying it was okay, but I understand why he committed suicide. That disease he had is one of the worse things you can possibly suffer, my grandfather suffered from the same thing "Lewy body dementia"
One hour photo, good will hunting, dead poets society, hook, Mrs doubtfire... so many great films. He had a way of going from being the funny guy to just delivering these crazy deep moments too. Truly unique performer and person in general, was so gutted to hear he took his own life
The closest I’ve ever been with my mom was right after Robin’s death. I’ll never forget her face when she told me. We spent the day watching Patch Adams, Dead Poets Society, and Good Will Hunting. We never got along before or after that but it was something I’ll never forget.
Robin Williams seemed like one of the sweetest people in show business. I've missed him since he's been gone for sure. He had the most insanely funny standup routines, but could go to very dark serious places like One Hour Photo, Insomnia, and Good Will Hunting. An amazing performer for sure. Nanoo Nanoo.

We all miss Robin.
Robins role in the movie "Worlds Greatest Dad" was so haunting to watch after his passing. I still get very emotional watching the film. I'm thankful that Mr Williams decided to share his talents with the world while he was with us.
Robin chose to go out on his own terms. A legend.
Good night, sweet prince.
Gone too soon.
Dead Poets Society remains my favorite Robin Williams performance 🥺 the scene where he tells the boys ”what will your verse be?”
Forrest Whittaker was in that opening scene. You could see genuine joy. Such a great movie. I was part of the Signal Corps 15th BG. There is a section in the Signal Corps Museum dedicated to the real life DJ and Robin Williams.
Juney Smith behind the glass, and Robert Wuhl behind the other glass.
The best.
We were in Disneyland when he passed and they did a huge tribute to him using the Genie footage.. it was special.. RIP
It was a gift for me to spend that time with him
The movie Jack had me crying hard when I was a kid.
RIP Robin, I grew up with you seeing you on Happy Day's. Man I miss you. True comedic genius.
when Robin Williams passed away I stopped finding joy and a lot of things the world became a little darker I really miss the man
Robin Williams could do an interview and completely hijack it, in the most beautiful way ever.
Oh, and please go watch Dead Poets Society.
his brother McLauren Smith-Williams was my junior year science teacher. when Robin died we had a kind of ceremony at school for him
The charecters he was able to play. Like One Hour Photo, Good Morning Vietnam, good will Hunting, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack, Patch Adams, Mork from Ork, All so different. One of the best comedians of all time & one of the best actors in my lifetime.
His stand up from back in the day when he did the bit of “The American Flag 🇺🇸” was the best!!!
"Flow state" lol
@@20FreeWill yes. its a term in psychology
@@catherineshaw1122 I agree dude stole jokes.
@@travismiller1491 Even if he did, he was still a hell of a lot funnier than Joe Rogan could ever hope to be. In every interview I've seen him in he'd take the whole damn thing over. None of the hosts could keep up with him, so I know Joe Rogan wouldn't be able to.
What dreams may come still makes me emotional.
Top tier movie for sure I grew up watching all his movies as a kid, RIP Robin Williams ❤
His movie The Final Cut is criminally underrated
Worlds greatest dad is also really good
So many classics from Robin too many to name off but Mrs. Doubtfire will always have a special place in my heart. I watch that movie and it's like I'm watching it for the first time laughing at everything. I'm happy that I got to witness that man's greatness growing up.
I was less sad about the deaths of people I actually know. I was like "Well, I guess it was just their time."
Not so with Robin Williams.
Saw this yesterday, I was blown away.
Pretty sure it's common knowledge that he's one of the greats
I saw it in the hospital. It was a great performance, as he’s known to do.
Watch Shakes the Clown, he's in that too.
Joe is such a great speaker. Speaks his mind, makes his observation but doesn't judge. Love that.
Rob William's was one of a kind
A true artist he took chances to make great art.
Robin.... thank you for making my childhood wonderful. i miss you very much, the world does.... You are forever my comedic God's
The world misses Robin Williams and James Gandolfini.
Those two hit so hard.
Robin Williams and John candy. 2 humans that are sorely missed on this planet and needed more than ever in 2021
robin williams is comedy actor goat status
I met Robin in Kuwait in 03 after he did a set for us. He was so funny and then seemed shy off stage. He actually sat down and ate with us.
What Dreams May Come was my favorite movie.
Movie chokes me up every time I watch it.
If you've ever lost someone you love, that movie will get ya right in the feels. Hard to watch without tearing up but definitely worth it

Can you please have huge UFO panel with all of those guests you’ve had over the years
Bob lazar, George knapp, Jeremy corbel, Christopher Mellon, James fox,
Travis Walton, Jacques Vallée, David fravor, and anyone else you find. I think that would be amazing!
Thanks for not including Tom Delonge.
I'd disagree with that format. For me, the magic is a long conversation with just two people. It does work - Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock work very well together - but if you had a bunch of people on a panel I feel it never gets to go really deep into a topic.
Saw Insomnia for the first time recently, what a hidden gem! Robin in another serious role, brilliant as usual. Pacino, say no more...miss Robin 🥺
my depression was literally caused by lack of sunshine
I had a vitamin D deficiency a decade ago
I was obese(452lbs.),and was type 2 diabetes
my doctor put me on 50,000 i.u.of vitamin D twice weekly.
now I weigh 205,barely remember my depression, and I'm about to go jogging
Just hearing you talk about him made me cry. What an actor he was...
I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone.
_Robin Williams
@Mike Sullivan talk about missing the point.
@Mike Sullivan you have zero desire to actually discern that, I'm not feeding your argumentative crap. Good luck.
@Mike Sullivan whatever you say, troll.
@Mike Sullivan OK troll, lol.
Never met Robin, but he was part of my family. RIP bro.
Junger: Robin Williams was a genius and we were so lucky to have had him
Rogan: He waited in line to tell me how funny I am
Beautiful discussion ❤️ Williams was an icon. Greatly missed.
Between Carlin and Williams no one could wax poetic and make you laugh more at political jokes. Their understanding let them rain comedy gold down on our countries political circus.
Yeah, but Carlin was never a big blue genie
Carlin, Pryor and Hicks changed my perspective. But no one made me laugh like Robin Williams.
I saw 1 Hour Photo when I was in 3rd grade & it was so good. Makes me want to watch it again
I still get nostalgic when I see him on my tv screen. He was a truly one of a kind human being.
Long Live Robin Williams ❤
He's dead, you plank 🤦🏻♂️
One hour photo, good will hunting, dead poets society, hook, Mrs doubtfire... so many great films. He had a way of going from being the funny guy to just delivering these crazy deep moments too. Truly unique performer and person in general, was so gutted to hear he took his own life
I always thought Bono looked like Robin Williams. Was it just me or you too?
The closest I’ve ever been with my mom was right after Robin’s death. I’ll never forget her face when she told me. We spent the day watching Patch Adams, Dead Poets Society, and Good Will Hunting. We never got along before or after that but it was something I’ll never forget.
Robin: Passed Awayyyy
Everyone: Rest in Peace!
♥️Mork ♥️😌
Robin: Passed Awayyyyy
Everyone: Rest in Peace
I remember I was watching Mrs. Doubtfire the day I heard about what happened. The world was brighter with Robin in it
the ultimate irony the the "the joke thief" on the guys show who protects jokes from said thievery
I was thinking about Robbin Williams earlier today. He was one of my favorite comedians.
