    Man... I've been dreaming of such a simple & smart device like that for years and completely found out randomly about your creation! This is a Motorcycle game changer device!!
    I literally ordered one as soon as I watched a couple of reviews of your device and I just received it! I will mount it today and will go on a 5000+ kms Road Trip pretty soon and you have no idea how you're going to make it more confortable and safe with this!
    No more wrist & forearm exhaustion because of those long & boring highway portion.... I was actually about to sell my bike to get a new one with electronic cruise control on it!
    Such an underrated device, The whole motorcycle world needs to discover this!
    Thank you David!

      @@ATLASMoto Hi David! I just came back from my first long road trip with the Atlas mounted on my Street Triple 675 R.... Man, that thing was a life saver on those long and boring highway roads!
      I had to do over 900kms at 130 km/h+ of highway in total, and I clearly wouldn't be able to do so without a cruise control device like yours! My wrist and my forearm says : "Thank you sir!"
      The only feedback I could give was on the upper version or lower version advice that are on the website, maybe it could be worth to add that, depending of how much throttle (angle?) you set your device at (or the length of your thumb... not sure...), the larger part of the device can make the activation a little difficult for your thumb.
      I went for the lower version after seing the photo of the Atlas on a Street Triple, and after that ride, I actually could have use the upper version so my thumb can reach the activation button a bit more easier.
      But that's just a little detail, definitely not a major issue and still a game changer device!
      Again, Bravo Monsieur! Please invest in Marketing, the Motorcycle world needs this!

    OK, I got my throttle lock and installed it last weekend. The installation process was SUPER easy and David's suggestions were spot on for my 2021 Indian Scout 60. Easy to activate and deactivate yet still allows for movement when engaged. The Scout 60 has a digital tachometer so I tested if any vibrations changed the settings and there was NO change at all. Very solid piece of gear with all steel construction. I really couldn't find any downside to the thing.

    One comment I'll have is that don't tighten it as tight as you can because it could squeeze the throttle too much where your throttle loses the ability to move freely on it's own.
    I have a 2018 Triumph Street Scrambler - with OEM Heated Grips installed on the bike.
    Initially I was tightening it as far as I could and my throttle was sticking. I had to find a sweet spot for how tight I had the bolt on the Atlas in order to get it working. Riding 50 miles on the highway tomorrow morning to attend a conference. Hopefully this will be a good test before my roadtrip across the United States in Sept.

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  Рік тому +3

      Correct, over tightening can result in throttle tube pinch. It need only be tight enough that the ATLAS is firm on the tube, with no wobble or excessive flex. If you can wiggle it by hand, it's not right. Make sure the rear ratcheting portion is as tight as possible before tightening the bolt, and hold the front tab of the clamping arm against the bolt head while ratcheting. This loosens the geometry and allows you to get the clamping arm ratcheted as tight as possible before tightening the bolt, all of which plays a part in seating the teeth properly. If you follow all steps and the tube is still pinched, just back off the bolt in tiny increments until the tube frees up to satisfaction.
      Hope you enjoy the ATLAS on that Triumph!

  • @Bass.Player

    If you have a plastic throttle tube then tightening the adjustment on the throttle lock so it will hold it may cause your throttle not to return to the idle position. These work best with metal throttle tubes...

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  Рік тому +1

      The ATLAS works great with metal throttle tubes, but also is not generally an issue with plastic tubes when the ATLAS is properly installed. Per the instructions, you need to have the ratcheting portion of the clamping arm as tight as possible by hand before tightening the mounting bolt, and just until the unit is firm on the tube. If you do not follow this important step, which helps seat the teeth properly, it is easy to overtighten and pinch the tube. If you have issues with the installation, reach out to us at info@atlasthrottlelock.com!

    I would really like to see a feature that disengage the friction pad if the front brake lever is pulled. not many riders actually twist the thruttle forward when they need to brake in a hurry. it's usually straight to the brakes knowing the spring will close the throttle

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  3 роки тому +5

      Hey Daniel, we get where you're coming from. I wanted to address one thing you mentioned to help clarify. In an emergency, I'm nearly certain you still hold on to your throttle, rather than going "straight to your brakes." It's a little difficult to imagine, and I'm not trying to be rude whatsoever (text is hard to communicate things like this) but you do in-fact rotate your throttle while you grab the brakes. No one should let go of their throttle "knowing the spring will close the throttle" because you would be riding during an emergency without your right hand on the grip. Again, I'm not trying to be rude, just wanted to clarify that for everyone reading these comments.

    • @rojoracing53
      @rojoracing53 2 роки тому +3

      I realize I'm a year late but I'm considering this product for my long hwy trips going to and from mtb races. I think what Daniel is implying but in less words is that riders don't prioritize closing the throttle first when suddenly going for the brakes in an emergency. Without the throttle lock when you jump your hand forward to grab the brake you don't fully let go of the grip to do so, but you do loosen contact pressure on the grip as a side effect of the motion. Now because of the loosened grip, general forward motion of the hand and the fact that the throttle naturally wants to return forward under throttle body spring tension; the throttle tends to close as a result of all those things working together. The main problem Daniel is concerned about and with good reason, is that with the throttle lock engaged and adding friction, will that naturally loosed handgrip you have when opening your hand and going for the brake in an emergency, have enough force to overcome the Atlas friction? Based on how many people I've seen crash or nearly crash due to a sudden sticky throttle I'd say no. The problem isn't that you aren't able to close the throttle with the atlas engaged, it's that you'll never train your muscle memory to do so in the even of an emergency when all your actions boil down to muscle memory. Does this mean it's a bad system or even dangerous? I'd say no because, with anything motorcycle related, if used properly with practice it should work fine.
      I could also argue that by the time you grabbed the brake level and start pulling on it, your hands grip on the bar has already transitioned from that open and relaxed open hand, to a more solid grip between the back of the grip and the brake lever. If you're already gripping the bar as you start to pull on the level back, then how is a lever release going to fully snap back the throttle tube, your hand grip is now holding it in position. So in the end both systems have a small compromise and it's left up to the common sense of the user to fully understand how best to use it around those compromises.
      It would be nice if the marketing teams of products could explain the minor details like this in the hopes of teaching users something they never considered. Then again I could see plenty of people picking apart what I just wrote and only focusing on what they want to hear, be it the negatives or positives which is why you don't see manufactures explain the details as such.

I know some high end bikes have auto blip built into clutch-less downshifting but I've never been interested in that level of computer control on my bikes.
      The point would kind of be mute anyways because you wouldn't be installing an atlas friction system on a high end FBW bike with cruise control anyways.

    What's the big difference with cheap knockoffs? Since it's just friction neither one really seems dangerous, just push the throttle closed again

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  28 днів тому +1

      Cheap knockoffs are just that. They are made from inferior metals and they knowingly violate our patent. They are an illegal copy and we ask riders not to support them. We've obtained a few of them and they are silly junk.
      And yes, the ATLAS is a friction and pressure system, so you can still use the throttle as needed. Close it in an emergency, or roll on throttle to speed up.

    The only suggestion I have for a Gen3 is for both the top kit and bottom kit is a wrist band kill switch. If you've guys ever gone Jet Ski/waverunning, some have a wrist band you put on and if you fall off the PWC it pulls a tab out of the ignition killing the motor so the jet ski doesn't go zooming off into the wild blue.
    I think you guys need to make a gen3 that has this on it, or some way to disengage it outside of hitting a button for the safety of it. So If someone falls off the bike, the bike doesn't go riding off without you.
    I plan on doing a lot of cross country miles and will be picking up a polished top kit for my harley, and the one concern I have is what happens in the slim chance that I get thrown from the bike?

    I followed instructions and there are two things that must be achieved when installing this style throttle lock.
    1. Is it must be tight enough as to not to slip on the throttle tube without binding the tube on the handlebar.
    2. The grip must provide enough backing as to not let the throttle lock push over when applied.
    I suppose if you could tighten the lock around the tube tight enough without binding the throttle to the handlebar then grip backing may not be necessary? This product does not work on my Road Star as intended, if I could find a metal replacement sleeve or thicker plastic one I think it would.

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  Рік тому

      The ATLAS needs to be tight enough on the tube so as not to slip, but when installed properly it does not need a grip flange to support it. When installing, make sure to insert the front section of the clamp arm first, then insert the rear ratcheting portion only 2 clicks. Thread the bolt in max two turns and pull the front tab of the clamping arm against the bottom of the bolt head, then ratchet the clamping arm until all the way tight. Finally, tighten the bolt until the ATLAS is firm on the tube, but not so tight that the tube is pinched. Following the steps appropriately helps to seat the teeth and prevent overtightening or wobbling issues.

    It depends entirely on friction against the block to the left of the throttlegrip. Barely any of it engages that block on many bikes and it won't work on lots of bikes reliably like a Honda cb300ra. Had to use it and a bar-end lock combined to get it to work.

      The new friction pad we recently released helps to fix this issue. Most bikes work reliably with the old friction pad design, but the new friction pad design works even better, especially for bikes where the full surface of the pad is not in contact with the housing. The new pad retrofits to all 2 button ATLAS Throttle Lock. www.atlasthrottlelock.com/collections/parts-for-your-atlas-throttle-lock/products/atlas-hardware-pack

      @David Winters only an 1/8th of an inch was touching at most and we tried increasing the size of the friction pad with shims. The whole mechanism would angle when engaging the lock, reducing the friction. If we could have put shims between the device and the grip to force it to stay vertical it might have solved the issue. It would push right at the top when engaging the device and we installed it really tight. I just bought these so we should have the latest pads. At $155ea, another $40 to fix it seems odd. Send me the pads and I'll update the review, otherwise, sending them both back.

      Yes. We've found either one to fit, in which case the Bottom Kit would be a good choice. We do recommend checking fuel tank clearance first, just to be sure. Turn the bars to the full right turn position and measure from the throttle tube itself (in between the grip and throttle housing) to the tank. That measurement should be 1.5 inches (38mm) at minimum for the Bottom Kit to clear the tank when the bars are turned full right. If there is doubt, go with the Top Kit.
      Also on some of the newer Triples with stock grips, we have found some of these have excess rubber on the grip between the grip flange and throttle housing. It may be necessary to trim that excess rubber so the ATLAS can fit.

    Why is it that every review that I see of this product the motorcycle continuously accelerates if someone doesn't have their hand on the throttle?

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  3 роки тому

      Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. The ATLAS Throttle Lock holds the throttle position, not necessarily the motorcycle's speed. Headwind and hills will require the rider to rotate their throttle to moderate their speed. In the case of a motorcycle accelerating when the ATLAS is engaged, the rider either was accelerating when they engaged the unit, are going down a hill or no longer have the same headwind they had when they first turned on the ATLAS. We are simply dealing with physics at this point.
      The real benefit of the ATLAS is that it allows the rider to not constantly hold their throttle return spring back from closing the throttle. Your left hand isn't holding a rotating grip, and that's the idea we are after for the right hand. When you want to leave the throttle open for a long stretch of road, then engage the ATLAS and prevent arm pump, stiff wrists and hand numbness. Then modify your speed like you naturally do with your throttle and brakes, rather than pressing a + or - button. I hope that clears it up for you.

      @TheJimtanker 3 роки тому

      @@ATLASMoto Thank you for your reply. • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  3 роки тому

      @@TheJimtanker No worries, we are happy to explain what's going on. If the rider is on flat ground and still accelerating, that means that they engaged the ATLAS in an accelerating position. The motorcycle will accelerate until it reaches the speed set by their throttle position. Once that speed is reach, then the ATLAS will hold that speed, barring any of the physical conditions I covered in my previous reply. It's physically impossible for the ATLAS to rotate someones throttle in the direction of acceleration. It is possible for the ATLAS to slip (if improperly installed) which would cause the motorcycle to slow down as the throttle return spring overpowers the friction provided by the ATLAS when engaged. This sounds like a logic puzzle haha! I hope that makes sense. Cheers!

    • @ATLASMoto
      @ATLASMoto  Рік тому

      Moving with the throttle keeps the installation simple and keeps the buttons in reach of your thumb. It rides on the throttle tube and so will rotate with the throttle. To have it in a fixed position, it would have to mount to the throttle housing and would be an invasive and time consuming install, plus the buttons wouldn't as easily be reached with the thumb when it's time to engage it.
