    Congratulations on passing your test! I know these milestones are important to us all. I remember how ecstatic I was when I finally kept all 5 shots on the target at 1000 yards. I've been corresponding with Hamish about a buffalo hunt and it is all your fault. I realized that it is something I've wanted to do for 30 years and that my time is running out. I told an old friend about it a couple of days ago and she said "So it's on your bucket list?" and I said "No, it is my bucket list." I don't know if I can make it happen but Hamish has been great about taking time to answer my questions and give me information. Maybe see you in Africa next season!

      Thank you! And congratulation to you on milestone 1000 yards shooting, that is awesome! Buffalo is the best bucket list you can have, and I hope you will choose to go with Hamish, as I know he will provide you with a great buffalo hunt, and memories for a lifetime. It will be quite an adventure. Let me know how it goes :)

      Thanks, Katharina, but the 1000 yd. stuff was years ago. I competed in .50 caliber 1000 yd. benchrest for a few years before you were born. It was fun while it lasted but I decided to give it up when the fun turned in to more like work. Keep us posted on your preparations for this year's hunt.

    Very nicely done!
    Until I watched you shooting next to other people without a suppressor, I did not realize the full effect a suppressor has on a large caliber gun. I am also surprised that it didn't appear to affect the shot grouping.
    I can't wait to see videos of your hunt. Good Luck!

    Hi Katharina.. congrats! I just watched a great vid on getting gun licenses in Germany, and I guess its similar in Norway! In California, you just need to pass a 25 question test on safety... if you want a carry permit, you need to take an 8 hr class... but no license is needed to hunt... thanks for another great vid

    What do you think of these rules about the test? I might belive it's to easy to get the certification. 30 runds practice and 5 runds at the reindeer ain't enough practice in my opinion...

    • @katharinavikr6865
      @katharinavikr6865  7 років тому +2

      I think the test it self with 5 rounds on the target is okey, i dont think it is any point in making the test it self too big. But i think it should be required with 100 practice rounds or more, because many people only shoot those 30 rounds and nothing more before the hunt, and that is far from enough.

    Did someone gather your brass and take it or was someone gathering it for you to keep yours from getting lost and mixed up with someone else's? I would be highly upset with someone taking my brass while I was shooting since I reload. I've actually had to tell a person not to pick up my brass before.

      @@katharinavikr6865 That would suck for me. I hunt with 45-70, 270 win, 2 different 308 win. 223, 22mag, 12ga, 243. I hunt everything and almost year round. It would take me a week just to qualify. I do shoot everything every year , but regulations there sound kind of over bearing.

    • @markhatfield5621

      I was reading that just this week. 1st part: The animal target (elk) at 110 meters (109.5 yards) all 5 shots in a (approx.) 12 inch circle representing the lung/heart area. 2nd part: Same target but moving 50 meters(?), 5 shots, 1 per pass. The moving target requirement might have been discontinued. The 5 shots in 12 inches at 100 meters is any shooting position but no rests, bipods, etc. Just saw where someone else here says the running target is a moose at 80 meters (87.5 yards) and the shots must be in a 40 cm (14.75 inches) circle.

    • @tombryant4518
      @tombryant4518 4 роки тому

      Mark Hatfield There would be 120 yards in 110m. There is no moving target either. You shoot 30 practice shots, then shoot 5 for score in any position with no support like a bipod, rest, bags etc.

    very similar to Sweden. However as far as i know, there is a moving target as well, and you have to shoot by standing, and free handed. Anybody, let me know if if i am wrong. I also looking forward to a Swedish channel like yours, because i want to know the rules, laws, regulations, possibilities over there.

    • @kd6pn
      @kd6pn 5 років тому

      In Sweden the running moose target is shot at 80meters with a 40cm bullseye. For hunting large game, only calibers 6.5x55mm or larger are permitted. 6.5x55mm, 7.62x51mm, 7.62x63mm are the most popular. Lead core ammunition is not allowed for hunting.
