This is exactly what these guys cannot get through their heads. We don’t give a damn that you can get more performance out of a cheaper bike. We buy Harley Davidson for the attitude, the style and the feel.

Jon, I totally agree with the car comparison. I come from the fox body mustang world and it’s got the same vibe. For the price I got my used dyna, I could have purchased a brand new sport bike, but the character and feel of a sport bike is no where near what I want. Keep up the great work!

Sport bikes have a very generic feel. They all feel basically the same and perform basically the same. Don’t get me wrong it’s fun to drag knee or get up to that 200m/hr speeds. But every Harley has its own personality. Every engine every model. Not to mention once people start upgrading them.

The Dyna takes a special breed man. It doesn’t do one thing the best but it doesn’t do one thing the worse. They are HDs red headed step children. I’m proud to be one of em.

Nailed it! I was talking to my wife about this. I’ve been in the muscle car game since high school. I know a bunch of dudes who have put over 100k into their cars. Yeah you could have a Ferrari or something, but there’s just something about an old school car you built doing things it was never designed to do.

I’m a retired Harley mechanic and have a few different brand bikes, kinda need a bike for every type of riding you do, I don’t think there is one bike that will handle everything, after I took off my eye blinders and tried different bikes oh man there’s a lot I still want, I have a sportster, Indian FTR, big Honda Valkyrie, husky, Ducati, dyna, and I still want more, I’m looking at the Grom too, it’s a sickness my wife says

I love motorcycles in general. I was president of a BMW GS club, and left there, due to the negativity to every other brand than BMW.
Yes, I owned at least 6 different models of BMW GS (including the best, a R1200 HP2 enduro) and build a caferacer and an enduro bike from BMW R100 models.
The last 45 years I owned over 30 motorbikes from all brands, including and several Harley's. I did a lot of track racing, competitive enduro riding, am an allround hooligan on bikes, have fun, oh and was a motorbike instructor 😇 .
Why do i ride a Dyna at the moment? Hmm, maybe coarse i like the Dyna? . . . .different strokes for different folks, 100% correct analogy to old muscle cars.

Yamienoob is a tool. Spite looks like the kind of dude that wears leather vests with kaki shorts and ankle high cowboy boots. Harley Davidson is the Jeep Of the motorbike world. Out of the box they a really nothing more then a name. But the aftermarket support and customization options you can make them pretty amazing for what they are and can personalize them more then any other vehicles on the market. There is also a following around Jeeps and Harley’s that no other vehicles have. When you drive a Jeep or ride a Harley you become part of a family almost. It’s literally a life style in its self.

My man, took the words right out of my mouth 😉 The "this shouldn't do this, lets send it anyway" is what I like about sportys/dynas. I've set my sporty for twisties because I like to fight with the bike a little, requires what would be a crash level input on an R1 just get me leaning through chicane style corners. I absolutely love throwin a sporty more than any other bike I've ridden. I cant even tell you why, my soul just says "this is where we belong"

I know this is a very late comment, but, having owned the Harley touring bikes, and the Sportsters, I love the Dynas, because to me, they are the best of both worlds, I get nimble twisty rides, get the city bebopping bike, and I can quick change out the seat, pop the bags on, and I have a really decent touring bike all in one. if the three bears had Harleys, im sure Goldy Locks would say the Dyna was "just right" lol

bro you hit it on the head with the Classic car comparison, 100% dead on. I have a few bikes and it makes 100% sense to me, the Harley is a cruiser, cruisers suck when it comes to performance and price, thats how it is. But thats not what its all about, if it was we would all be riding some 2007 CBR or a 2017 FZ09, but were not, we ride what we like, different strokes for different folks like you said.

  • @Love4boost
    @Love4boost 4 роки тому +3

You basically had the same point as me when I commented on his video. It’s just one of those things you either get it or you don’t. Even if you try to argue if you ride cruisers you’ll get it. You’d still be wrong. There’s so many metric cruiser riders that hate Harley in general because there’s a bunch of metrics that are faster. When most of us don’t care about being faster. The dyna is just a great bike. Has a ton of issues and it sucks compared to almost everything, but yet it’s still one of the best cruisers ever made. I like your old muscle car analogy. That’s probably the best way to explain it.

I've ridden an FXR I've ridden baggers, sportsters , even a heritage softail.... I I owned a 2002 fxdx for a couple years and I loved it, especially the dual disc. It was a great stunt bike, but my FAVORITE bike to date is my current 2015 fxdb... the reasons are simple, the 103 rips and FUEL INJECTION is the business! My bike is my daily as I haven't owned a car in years. So sure it's a little heavier than the DX was, but having that 6 speed in my 103 just makes it an all around better bike for me.

The reason people that like Dynas like them is they like the look, sound and feel of them. That's most likely the same reason those that like any other bike like the one's they like. They are lighter than the Harley Touring bikes with the same engine is why I like Dynas.

Same thing with the new softails. You can save a few hundred pounds, have the same motor, and a better power to weight ratio. The touring bikes serve their purpose. I do believe a lot of people own touring bikes and don't need them. I use to be one of those people. Even though I "downgraded" to a iron 1200 I love that bike. It is over 300 pounds lighter and much quicker than my old touring bike. Not to mention I can wheelie it. I found that out by accident when I was messing around one day.

@@CactusJack252 When I got the Road King I had been doing a lot of traveling for about 15 years on Dynas. So I wanted a touring bike to be able to take a bit more stuff. The last Trip I made was in October 2016 and I was not comfortable at all everything hurt after around 5 hours of riding. Now I can only ride 3 maybe 3.5 hours and I have to get off for a while, but I'm not good for anther 3 hours after that. If I could afford it I would have bought a Low Rider S. So now I'm just riding the King . Maybe next year I'll sell it and get a used Dyna or 1200 Sportster.

My 2012 Gsxr 600 could never. Don’t get me wrong I love my 600 to death but sometimes I don’t want to be a hooligan. Sometimes I just want to cruise for 2 hours and get lost. Harleys are not classics tho, atleast the ones in question, yoi can buy a 2020 model, and thats the problem, youre getting a "classic" spec motorcycle which is nice and i like that you can do that, but youre paying 2020 tecnology prices for an archaic technology which is simply not justified, its not the same as buying an old restored classic bcuzz they are still being produced. If Ford still made the OG mustang coupe, not only it would not be as desired but for sure it wouldnt cost 30k.

Maybe Dynas are so popular because they are a 'jack of all trades, master of none' type of bike? Everyone seems to have their own reason for liking them. I have a 1200 Sporty right now, while it has plenty of power it's just not big enough. I had an Aprilia Tuono & a Kawi Ninja 600 before this, so it's not like I only tried Harleys. I'd like to get a bigger HD though, I live in the boonies and everything is far away. Sporties are great for in a city, long trips can be uncomfortable. I'd likely go with a softtail or Dyna, they're that perfect all around in between size. 1000lb touring bikes are just to big & slow, plus I just don't want or like the looks of a huge fairing.

You should ask Yammie to tell you the story about the time he was out pretending to be a street Rossi. I'll give you a hint, he rode his Triumph Daytons 675 right into some poor ladie's Porsche. As a result of the collision, he was sent into the air about 30 feet. The bike and Porsche were totaled and he spent some time in the hospital. The video may still be out there on UA-cam
He's a serious jackwagon and no one should take him serious.
I have a 99 FXDX, I'm currently selling. To a younger dude looking to move from Sportbikes to Harleys.
You can upgrade your FXDX up to at least a 95 CI. Good platform to work with.

I owned a Harley Sportster it was the worst motorcycle performance-wise I ever owned, rubbish top speed, rubbish acceleration, rubbish suspension, meh handling, rubbish fuel capacity, rubbish mpg, fix one thing, and then another thing will brake. Just utter garbage. But, I loved it, it was a 2015 iron 883 but it was customized to be bobbed out. When I sat on it and started the engine it made me feel like a badass, even though my main bike could do 0-60mph in 2.9seconds, the Harley made me feel even better, the sound, the vibrations, the styling, peoples reactions to it, all was amazing. It felt like I owned a supercar, wherever I parked it 10/10 people would say nice bike or ask to take a picture, ask to sit on it or ask to hear the engine. None of my bikes gave me this experience.

I personally prefer sporting V twins like my SV1000S, the RC51, TL series, and Ducati. If I wanted a cruiser, only the Dyna would do.

Besides your typical old Harley purists, the most “hate” I see is from the general sport bike community. They seem to only be concerned about how fast stuff goes. Like you said and like I always say. Different strokes for different folks 🙌🏻

The answer is simple... it's fun. I almost bought me a 2011 Dyna over the weekend. I was so close man, it was cool as fuck. Literally the only thing that could have stopped me was the pristine gen 2 vmax within my price range sitting next to it lol. Holy shit, talk about a monster.
Anyway, at the end of the day you don't have to have a reason to enjoy anything. Yammie gets caught up a lot in performance because it's important to him. I think he finds the passion from HD guys to be kind of perplexing because of it. I really appreciate that he's sticking his neck out there and trying to figure it out though. I honestly think he's just thinking too hard about it. They're just cool lol.

Congrats on the vmax! Hecks yeah! I agree it's rad to see him branching out. I can definitely understand the disappointment given lots of people hype up the dyna for the wrong reasons. Lol.
