      @@quiltingplusmore I'm looking forward to seeing how you quilt your project and see how you incorporate your star border around the design. I love the blue fabric it's absolutely beautiful! You are such a careful sewer. I tend to get impatient and often end up with dull points and other funky block issues. 🤭. You helped me better understand how they happen and how to prevent them.

      …my moto lately has been progress not perfection! This quilt has been a quilt of firsts for me. So…I decided to carry that over into the quilting. 😊 That video is scheduled to publish this Thursday. I hope you like it!

    You made an inspired choice on your alternating block. Your quilt is both charming and colorful. One of my lazy ways to take a few complex blocks that I might have made as a test and get more real estate from them is to "economize" them. I simply do one or two round robins of corner setting triangles to get the finished size block that I want. For the last round, I choose a contrasting fabric for one block and an background for the other so the join is an hourglass. I don't mind pairing them with a simple economy by cutting a square for the center to go with the more complex centers. I got two darling baby quilts using this method--and used up some languishing blocks.

      Thank you. Great idea, and love the way you 'economize' your blocks. Thank you for sharing and watching.

    I might try these stars- they are not quite as fussy as I thought they would be. Thanks for the demo! Question: when trimming your block you do two precuts at the edges before making the final cut. Why?

    • @quiltingplusmore
      @quiltingplusmore  Рік тому +1

      Hi Michele - It seems when I make a full swipe cut, the ends move as I’m making my cut but my precuts alleviate that movement ensuring I get a straight cut. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@quiltingplusmore thank you so much for the information,. I am in the process of making a butterfly quilt for a coworker and the only part that I had not finished was the butterfly applique that I wanted to put in. I just had not settled on how to do it. This might work perfectly.
