I’m in my late 60’s and have about 10 UFO’s. I know I won’t live forever. I am going to make progress and hopefully I can get a few completed ❤ thank you

Interesting. I am also going through a PHENOMENALLY difficult time in my life and it also involves my child. My beloved son. I find that sewing also helps me. I honestly do not know at this time how I am going to get through this situation. All I can do is get up and live one day at a time, as has been said. Thank you for having the boldness to include scriptures in your video. They are also my stndard for life and what I cling to in these difficult times. I am new to your channel and this is only my second video. My family has offered little support for me, and this video did more for me than my whole family has done in the last 10 years, so thank you for being someone I can actually relate to. Love, blessings, and hugs.

I’m so sorry! Prayer (especially prayer to Mother Mary), faith and hope with sewing mixed in got me through, and, still does….I will remember you, your son, and family in my daily prayers. Praying and wishing you peace….Love, blessings, and hugs back to you!

your explanation of sewing through crisis…I sew and tend to my landscape in the same way. I do not have a loss of a loved one, which is a far greater crisis..but still I felt so much stress because of a co worker. Luckily she has targeted many people, so I’m not alone, but it’s been challenging and draining. I knew my granddaughter had started to play with Barbies and is getting a 10” doll for Christmas…I’ve been sewing Barbie clothes, hats, bags…I’ve given one bunch to her. The release I’ve had after a stressful day…when it was warm I’d go out and work hard in the landscape, felt amazing. Another coworker being attacked said she did the same thing. I told them now I’m making Barbie clothes, which sounds tedious, and it us, but as you said, it’s an amazing distraction. I even figured out hiw to make headbands and tiaras, then attaching rhinestones….so much work, I want to this for a job….sew Barbie and doll clothes. I have used up scraps but mostly I’m buying fat quarters, I see potential doll clothes when I look at fabric now!
I’m getting ready to start a string quilt to pare down the useless strips from my inventory. Found this channel and now have watched 3…you have a calm presentation…thanks for the videos &

I’m so sorry! Sewing really has been a form of art therapy for me, and, there is nothing like working hard in the garden getting my hands dirty to help settle my mind. I’m glad that you found your happy place too. I love that you’re making doll clothes! You may consider making the Barbies some quilts from your scraps - how cute would that be? Peace be with you….

I created an automated board on my KANBANFLOW which I use for my regular job. As I have used this for several years with my work, when I started quilting I went "hmmmmm" I bet I could use this for my quilt projects...whether they are UFO's or WIP's. So I went about and created a KANBAN board with columns for organize/design/plan, fabric curation, cut, piece units to blocks, join columns and rows, quilt sandwich, quilt, bind, and DONE. I also put my "dones" in an inventory in another section so that I can keep track of my quilt inventory and ultimately who gifted to. The beauty of the board is that it is visual and each project can have pics, notes, descriptions, attachments in one project. Not only can I tell in an instant the stage my top by what column it is in, but I can take a picture of the quilt and pictorially know exactly what it is by showing more detail on my board. The ability to put very complete notes (to include trials and tribulations!) and now exactly what needs to be done when I pick it up again.
So even though it is digital, and organized it can seem overwhelming. I'm doing my best to not start any new projects until I've completed my current ones.

Oh my gosh, brilliant. I would definitely be more apt to use a digital inventory. I love the ability to detail notes and also have an inventory of finished quilts. Nice! Thank you for sharing and watching.

Well just bless your heart Julie! I can't even begin to imagine all that you have endured and I am so, sorry, for your loss. If I could, I would hug you through the computer. You are an amazingly strong woman. They say God gives his strongest battles to the best soldiers..... I have had my share of trial and tribulations in this life... but You.... God Bless you my new friend. God has brought our paths to cross for a reason... You and your family are lifted in prayer. I know this is not a recent post, but it is new to me. I hope that you will continue to share your faith and the bravery and encouragement in all your futures videos. There was a floss tuber I used to watch who saved "the good stuff" for the end. That being of course her faith. I miss her still today and think of her often. I hope she returns soon. Maybe you know of her? Bonnie, the log cabin stitcher? She quilts also. The world needs more people out there who are neither afraid nor embarrassed to share God with those of us who hear and heal as a result; of people like yourself. Thank you, for ALL that you do.

Thank you, Kathy. As you can probably gather, I am passionate about quilt stories, and think that it is important that the story accompany the quilt. So many times, I see quilts in museums and the provenance is unknown or guesses made. Hopefully, this brings a little awareness to the stories and importance of labeling quilts. We all have trials and tribulations in life. I appreciate your comment about faith. I try to instill my faith in all I do. Thank you for watching and commenting!

My story is very long so I’ll say my husband had a aortic dissection and no one survives that. He had a excellent surgeon who the ambulance people called ahead they were on the way a hour away and the doctor was got out of bed and was on his way. If even one person had dropped the ball this would be a different story. You know it’s bad when you get three ER nurses sitting beside you watching and waiting for the worse. My pain doctor works part time at the big Mercy hospital in OKC and he told me when they come in with a aortic dissection he just hands them his phone and says call your mother you may not make it out of this. That’s exactly what they told my husband. Then when the doctor comes in at a run sees the ct scan they hand him and he says alright get him on ice now! My husband shouldn’t have even got this far. Most don’t! The surgeon was excellent and knew what he was doing. Anyway it was six months and about six different hospitals and they all wanted a DNR because again they all said no one survives a aortic dissection! I said No! I know about putting someone in the hands of God! Believe me I know where to go when there is no where else to go! My husband was at deaths door a few times and we were told he won’t make it through the night! He was seconds from death. I’ve seen full on septic shock. Shaking uncontrollably and crying but he pulled through again. It’s a lot when on life support they are moving him to another state which meant constant staying in hotels and eating take out for six months so it was my husband always at deaths door plus I was away from my home and I had a child graduating and so I was back and forth. I was literally going to bed with Jessie Duplantis on my iPad preaching how to get healing from God. I was doing what he said and I was listening to Kenneth Copeland, they stopped their conference when my minister was there and my husband was really bad off and not expected to live so they stopped and prayed! Anyway I was telling Arab doctors on the east coast I would not sign a DNR because Jesus was coming! I wasn’t sure I even believed it but I was clinging to the cross and holding on! We were at the point of doctors have done all they can. Anyway Jesus did show up and healed him and shocked the doctors and when they got over their shock they said it’s a miracle because we didn’t do it! I get sewing through the pain and grief. Now he sleeps in a hospital bed and can’t walk but everything else is healed. He has frontal lobe damage but speaks perfectly. I get thinking you can’t sew because too much needs to be done! Believe me I get it if anybody does.
After the dust settled from everything that happened with the aortic dissection. My husband bought me a new home in my home state. Then he got me a long arm or mid arm however you want to look at it. I got a starter learning long arm. I got thE Qnique 15 pro and it’s very nice. I have had it for months and haven’t done much on it because I have had too much to do and I’m a little afraid of it. Anyway I have had quite a few quilts I could do. We have a lot in common because I also am a perfectionist but I have to just make myself practice on it. My dream machine is the one you have the Innova. My husband wants to buy me one but I said not yet. God will provide it at the right time. I subscribed. Your awesome!❤❤❤

LillyKat, your story is very moving, and, thanks be to God that you and your husband are where you are at …. I totally understand the guilt factor of sewing when the chore list is not done. I have come to the conclusion that we need to put ourselves on that chore list as self-care! I know for me that sewing and quilting has been a form of ‘art therapy’ if you will, and for me, a little goes a long way…. a couple stitches made or doodling in a sketch book at night works wonders. Don’t be afraid of your machine, lol, I know they can be intimidating. Is there a video topic that might help you? Thank you for subscribing and watching. God Bless you and your family!
