Well I really must give an absolute honest review of the 2019 Nissan Altima. I offer my opinion based on the fact that I own one and that prior to purchasing I checked out and compared the 2019 Honda and the 2019 Toyota. Honda accord ,, smaller engine, front wheel drive, lacking many of the features of the Nissan Altima ,, $ 3988.60 ( Can. ) more expensive. Toyota Camry XSE all wheel drive, nicely equipped, finish not as nice as the Altima and had fewer safety features and was $ 4199.74 ( Can. ) more expensive than the Altima. The CVT is flawless, smooth as silk combined with the improved 2.5 engine and this vehicle more than meets my needs. My Altima is the four wheel drive Platinum model it's fully loaded and the safety features are exceptional. The colour of my Altima is Sunset Drift ,, ( love it !! ), it has low profile 19" Hankook tires. The vehicle came with a winter package, a full set of Firestone tires mounted on smart alloys. The Nissan Altima was an outstanding value, great performance, very comfortable, highly pleased with my purchase. I simply have nothing negative at all to say about the CVT but there certainly is a great deal of negative comments about the CVT. I wonder how many of these individuals that post negative reviews about the CVT actually own a vehicle equipped with CVT ,, very few, if any.
The interior and exterior has this hate it or love it styling. There’s really no neutral feeling for it 🤔. I do like the red stitching throughout the cabin. I love how you guys provide OUTSTANDING reviews no matter what the weatherman predicts 👍🏽
Nissan hit this one out the ball park.optional AWD. The base stereo still outperforms the competition as usual 😂😂The exterior is easy on the eyes unlike the 2018 Accord. Only thing Nissan needs to do is add LED on the rear and a PANORAMIC SUNROOF and also options for a traditional auto transmission and they'll be back on top
I have to say that just based on the video evidence, the CVT sounds horrible compared to the Civic. I think that it's the biggest weakness of the new model. I haven't driven it, but the sounds coming through just told me that it's very disappointing. Just my two cents. Thanks for another great in-depth review guys.
It's better in person if you can believe it. When I test drove the Platinum FWD it was a very quiet and smooth ride. Quieter than the Mazda 6 signature I was cross shopping it with.
I test drove 1 and the response is amazing and i didnt hear any droning. Maybe learn 2 drive with your foot not so heavy on the pedal all the time. Even under heavy throttle little noise.
Dude he goes to about 3k rpm only and you can tell from that its worse than the civic? You could barely even hear the engine. At the end he uses the paddles for a second lol. But you can tell from video evidence its worse??? Lmfao. If anything the cvt in the civic sounds like its slurring between the shifts compared to the altima.
@@occckid123 First of all, you should perhaps learn to read carefully. I said it was my two cents. I also said that I hadn't driven the Altima. All I was basing my opinion on was my impression from the audio from this video. I listened through my headphones, so I was able to hear things more clearly. Do me a favour and stop presuming that you can tell me how to interpret what I heard, or experienced when I drove a number of new Civic models. The CVT must go. Do a 👍 if agreed. So many great cars out there would become even greater if offered with a manual, and a 5 or 6 speed auto only. I say this because my last 2 vehicles have been 6 speed automatic, but I find myself in 4 or 5 most of the time. Literally have almost never used 6th in either one. Why Nissan did not put fog light on the SR which is suppose to be the sporting version, not even in 2020 model. I have a SV model AWD and it has LED fog lights.
Thanks for pointing out the simulated shifting. I had an Infiniti JX 35 2013 and it drove me crazy with just constant revving and so gear changes. Ugh.
You guys are in the SR trim, no? I heard that specific one got bashed the most for ride quality and such since the suspension is supposed to be "tighter and better handling". I personally had zero interest in the SR because it lacks so much technology found only in the SV and then SL+ for the finishing touches.
Yes, the model in this review was the 2.5 SR AWD. Even with the sport suspension the SR still rides comfortablely, but it is definitely not as sporty as some of the rivals like the Accord Sport and Mazda 6.
@@giofromtexas2679 tbh I like how Nissan packages their vehicles. Why are you bashing CVT??? Have you own one or just bashing because others are. LOL I have own Honda with CVT, Subaru_CVT, Toyota_CVT and now 2019 Altima AWD with CVT and they all perform great and fuel efficient. I will not go back to traditional step automatic, especially with small 4 cylinders where you constant notice it shift up, down, up and down going over hilly areas. With CVT, it just put the power right where the power is needed, hold it there and pull you thru without hearing your gearing changing. LOL Been there done that and I love my CVT.

I give 10 month before that CVT starts acting up lol. Now you might say that Nissan’s have a bad reputation because the people who own them do not take care of them. However, let me tell you. I work parts at a Nissan dealership, there are so many CVT’s being replaced on vehicles that are maticulously maintained. We constantly have 7-8 CVT’s sitting in storage. And we don’t stock them, they are all on Special Order Requests which means they all have cars waiting for them. The worst I have seen is a 2015 Nissan Sentra that’s had two CVT’s replaced under warranty and one replaced at the cost of owner. The French ruined Nissan. ThePabloG30 Honda makes their own CVT’s while Nissan’s CVT’s are supplied by JATCO. Also, Nissan forces JATCO to keep the cost low. So cost-cutting is major. @Louis Win I went throught the whole “French ruination” thing (via Renault, no less) as a Chrysler tech 88-94. I say manual 6 speed or automatic 6 speed on everything is sufficient.
Because they know it would ruin sales for the Maxima a AWD VC turbo Altima would get more attention because it would be faster than the Maxima at that point and Nissan knows it
The Altima is a great car, but has one non-adjustable setting that is a major red flag (at least for me). From a stopped position, it is a pig off of the line. For normal, typical, day-to-day driving, it is not a problem. In fact, for many folks, it will help control the car; prevent wheel spin. The problem is that when you do want to accelerate, quickly, from a stop, you cannot. For example, if you are at a light, in the left lane, and you realize that you need to make a right at the next light, you can forget about getting ahead the car to your right when the light turns green. Once rolling, the acceleration is very good. But Nissan has de-tuned the engine, perhaps for better gas mileage or bad drivers. If you do not mind having low power from a stop, then this is a very good car for the price.
Thats the same as my corolla but its nowhere near a deal breaker for me....I dont buy the car to try to race the car beside me to cut in front of it at the light, and most other people don't either. Buy a sports car if driving fast is your thing
@@nomaderic Racing? Why did you inject racing into a normal situation that happens on the road? What is unsafe about pulling ahead of a car to change lanes? Perhaps you drive slow, create traffic, and people cut you off, and you take that to be cars racing to get in front of you? People safely accelerate to change lanes all of the time. That has nothing to do with racing. Accelerating to get in front of someone is not racing. It is normal driving. Sometimes braking to change lanes is best. But that is not always an option. Getting ahead of someone to change lanes might be best. And that is not racing. I assume that anyone that passes you is a racer? I have a 2003, 2.5 liter Nissan Sentra. It is not even remotely a race car. But it has power from a stop. That is not a bad thing.
@@NoEgg4u While what you are saying is safer on the highway, in the city on a normal road that is not optimal. Quit trying to be first and just merge in line like you are supposed to I drive fast all the time, I just know when and when its not proper to do so. My life is driving, I drive a couple hundred thousand miles a year if not more in every corner of this country. You aren't gonna sit here and explain how to drive to me.
@@NoEgg4u doing what you are saying is actually more dangerous from one red light to the other because you are accelerating to get in front of someone only so you can slow back down to turn. That is not only dangerous for you but even more so for the person you just rushed to get in front of....now that person has to stop just because you wanted to get in front to turn. Its not rocket science its common sense. I see people do exactly what you described everyday. Its wreckless entitled driving with no regard for the other driver
@@nomaderic Again you are obsessed with racing. Nowhere did I ever state, suggest, or recommend racing. Nowhere did I ever state, suggest, or recommend doing anything unsafe. Nowhere did I ever state, suggest, or recommend racing ahead of someone, cutting them off, and pressing the brakes. You made all of that up. Why does your mind keep going down that path? Getting ahead of someone to make a turn can be unsafe (they way you are stuck on envisioning it). And I suspect that you drive slow and people cut you off, which is why you see anyone getting ahead of you as always being unsafe. People get ahead of me all the time. Most do so safely. Some do not. I get ahead of people all of the time, and never cut them off. I get behind people all of the time, too. This is what is referred to as normal, safe driving -- not racing. The next light can be 1/2 mile away. There is nothing unsafe about getting ahead of the person next to you (a slow driver like you), to make an exit. Lots of exists have run-offs (a new lane dedicated for the exit). That is the lane used to slow down for the exit. I suspect that you slow down before getting into the run-off lane and create traffic, and cause others to unexpectedly brake, and risking accidents. Such drivers care zero about the chaos they cause behind them, and mindlessly drive away from the traffic and unsafe conditions that they create. You wrote: "I see people do exactly what you described everyday" You see imaginary conditions that I never described. You see the worst in every condition. You see every person that passes you as a maniac. You see normal, safe driving as speed daemons, because they passed you. I never proposed speeding. I never proposed unsafe driving. I never proposed cutting anyone off. You fabricated all of that in your mind. You took a simple aspect of my review, pertaining to the car's acceleration from a stop, and you went off the deep end. Yes, people race and do unsafe things. But that has zero to do with anything that I wrote, and it has everything to do with your convoluted, paranoid driving state of mind.
You're comment insists the reliability is bad on this car then you end by saying you rather have an impala which everyone knows is atrocious Please make your comment make sense

Quit trying to be first and just merge in line like you are supposed to
I drive fast all the time, I just know when and when its not proper to do so.
You wrote:
"I see people do exactly what you described everyday"
You see imaginary conditions that I never described.
Cool car lease it so you can get rid of it before the cvt goes .But I still like the chevy impala anyway
g gggh haha what is there to like about the impala
You're comment insists the reliability is bad on this car then you end by saying you rather have an impala which everyone knows is atrocious
Please make your comment make sense
ТАЧКА СУПЕР...
Finally got rid of the worthless Nissan Connect.
I see quite a bit of wrinkled leather.
The cvt will die at 50000 miles .
Doesn’t compare to the Accord
In what aspects? Just curious
@@b.f.378 accord has a more luxurious look inside similar to bmw or audi. The accord also comes with dual zone AC and with the 2nd trim the sport you get 19' wheels. The accord front looks way better imo.
@@jasontaylor5535 Yea, the Accord always had a more luxurious feel than its competitors, especially the Altima which always had a bland interior and cheap build inside
For blind peoole the accord wins. If you're forced to look at it the decision is much more difficult
