New mic setup is so much better. Glad to see the quality of the video/sound come up to match the quality of the content itself! It definitely feels counter intuitive at first to accelerate into the ball when trying to keep it short. I think short drop shots are more mental than anything.
I think the difference is the kind of rubber u use. Lot of people who use Chinese tacky rubber can get away with not having the stabbing technique to get good short touches. I just switched to grippy rubbers and found myself struggling to keep the ball short. This recomendation makes total sense.
Very nice tips on push shot, the short but more backspins one is very useful to give a fast touch shot and not easily to be attacked because on the table near the net but sometimes I think we do need spins variation and that is sometimes if we can vary the spin by giving it more forward might give opponent to misjudge the spins and sometimes useful as if not careful they might return it too hard and out of the table. So I am just saying that those more forward or less backpins push sometimes is not a bad shots at all.
I had a doubt that where to touch the ball to the racket. Now, it is cleared. I will practice touching the ball correctly around the handle side. One thing, I often tell the players is about the racket angle, The angle must be nearly 45°, while playing the short push. Also, the arm should be relaxed. As like a cushion, the arm will adjust according to the incoming spin. Thanks for yet another food tutorial...👍
Can you plz explain blade angle for push ,conter, block of incoming topspin and smash for shortpips in backhand. It would be great it you put light on it.
Hi Eli. My question is about how about when you have up or down spin on the ball, what should be the contact point? When the ball have side spin, it will pop up obviously which is the main reason for serving with always with side spin for players. is only way to mirror the opponents way to counter the ball? What kind of options do we have? My issue is generally poping up the ball, not brushing with angle, especially with Tenergy 05, with the help of Sponge tech, it bounces up immediately. (When i play with high level players, i always regret not to play with ESN rubber :))
@@ebatt8803 i have tried my luck, will try that tomorrow with league player friends. it will be nice for ur viewers to gear up to upper intermediate levels sometimes ;) thank you anyway
Good tips. I will practice now and make sure I know what the feeling of a high quality push is. One question though, what's the reason for aiming for contact nearer to the handle?
@@ebatt8803 Seems a little counter intuitive to me, because hitting closer to the handle as you suggests has slower racket rotation speed, wouldn't that mean less imparted spin on the ball (similar idea to when we serve?). From imparting a lower amount of energy on the ball aspect, I can understand, if the goal is for a short touch ball. I'll check out the other vid and see if I can learn from that one. Thanks!
Hi Coach Eli. Excellent tips. I love the short, stabbing motion. My stroke was definitely too long with insufficient backspin. Plus, the extra backspin gives you better control to move the touch around-middle and corners. Do you try to hit it a certain height over the net like the tennis drop shot, or is it best to concentrate on a spot on the other side? Thanks for the interesting, entertaining vids. And hey, nice diagram!
coach, so your technique works on any type of spin? doesn't matter the incoming ball is top or underspin or dead ball? Do I need to do angle adjustment on it?
It's great! And you're great coach! You make many complicatied things in tabletennis come simple and easy to do. Thanks coach!
All of your tutorials are very useful !
Very kind words thank you so much ☺️
The stabbing vs side-hacking was a great analogy. I tend to hit my short touches like a regular chop. Now I know what I am doing wrong.
Very high-quality explanation. Thank you very much!!!
Игорь Гончаренко thank you very much
Simple and to the point explanation of difficult TT shot
Great video - it's really helpful when you give enumerated technique tips and then exercises like this.

Good Bro!
What type of equipment works best for short touch. I have Rhyzm p on donic Waldner legend carbon blade which feels too fast
Thanks. I wanted to confirm whether equipment or technique is important for this stroke so thanks for clearing this up

How to do the short push on a no spin ball
Super information Eli!

Good tip
Awesome 👍 👍
Useful
Can I do that for every ball type of spin ?
Great. thx.
Will this work against low short heavy backspin serves?
Anik Das yes, try it
I constantly hit the table surface during short touches. Is that OK?
Yes it’s ok as long as you get the ball on 👌🏓
❤
Can you kindly make a video on returning smashes
Great help . Now i know why my short pushes still gets attacked by national players LOL.
the poor quality ones work better for me in matches because I dont give my opponent any spin to work with and they get confused by the dead ball
@@z0uLess yes that can also work well 👌🏓
Ok
