23:55 "Can she actually sing, though?" I saw Bette on Broadway in 2018 when she was doing the revival of Hello, Dolly! I can assure you, that woman can SING!! She won the Tony Award for her performance a few months later.
I was at Hello Dolly also and loved it. I bought Bette's first record when I was in my early 20's. Now I'm 75 and still love her talent as a singer and actress. Bette was a singer long before she was an actress.
The actor who played the guy in the Devil costume is actually famous director Garry Marshall, and the actress who played his wife was actually his sister, actress and director Penny Marshall (Laverne in Laverne and Shirley, and director of A League of Their Own).
Kathy Najimi(Mary Sanderson) was actively doing that thing with her mouth throughout the film. In the sequel she got slapped early in the film and it swapped sides which is an in-movie excuse for it as she became unable to hold her mouth like that on that side for long periods of time. Winifred turned to stone because she touched holy/cemetery ground, though it took a while to happen. This movie likely because of nostalgia has always been my favorite Halloween movie as it always cracks me up and I’ve watched it every year(This year I’ve decided to just watch other people react to it. lol). One of my favorite scenes is oddly the moment they leave the kiln as Winifred speaking about how she wants her book in English & French always makes me laugh.
This movie is the legit reason why I love Bette Midler so much. Also, I love Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. He also played Abe Sapien in Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. And the physical actor who played Thackery Binx in this movie currently plays Special Agent Timothy McGee on the original NCIS series.
Bette Midler (or the DIvine Miss M) has won 4 Grammys, 2 Tony awards, and sold like 30 million copies of her albums. She's famous for her voice, but also has a bunch of Emmy and Golden Globes awards and like 9 American Comedy awards. Try 80's comedies like Ruthless People and Outrageous Fortune. First wives club reunites her with SJP. Also dramas like Beaches and Stella

You might recognize Mary, Kathi Najimy, from the movie Sister Act. Not sure if you’ve ever watched NCIS or not the actor that plays the human for Binx is Sean Murphy he plays McGee in that. The graveyard scene in which Winifred is flying and swooped down at Dani, they had to reshoot that scene because Bette Midler accidentally hit Thor Birch, there is a little snippet video around of that happening, and it shows Bette Midler running to go check on her to make sure she’s OK.
I live 45 minutes from Salem. I love it there. After two ankle reconstructions in 1.5 years, I was finally able to walk to see Max & Dany's house, I have seen the others before. It is a rich in history magical city. That had horrific senseless killings back in 1692. My Daughter's several times GGFather, was finally acquitted of Witchcraft.
Since no one else has mentioned them queen SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker) is probably best known for starring in the hit series Sex in the City. Kathy Najimi is a great actress as well and my favorite role from her would be in Sister Act 1 and Sister Act 2 with Whoopi Goldberg (highly recommend if you haven’t seen and both are musical movies). Sister Act 2 also stars Lauryn Hill and the movies have Maggie Smith who is Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter series. Just to give some reference notes 😅
Fun fact. Billy Butcherson ( the mummy) was Winifred's lover until Winifred (Bette Midler) caught Billy and Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) together. Winifred ultimately decided to sew Billys mouth shut to keep him from talking about the affair and I believe, kill him altogether.... I havent seen this movie in awhile but im pretty sure there is history between them. Its fascinating. I love this movie so much.
Winnie touched the "hallowed" ground of the cemetery at daybreak - which is why she turned to stone, while he sisters were up in the air, but the candle's magic expired at the first sunlight of the next day, which is why they exploded.
Yeah. My parents didn’t like Halloween. We were allowed to watch Hocus Pocus when my parents realized the movie wasn’t glorifying the witches and they were the villains lol
A lot of people look at Halloween and “Witchcraft” from a modern perspective and fall foul of misunderstanding it. Halloween comes from a Celtic festival, in which people prepare for the “Dark” half of the year and pay homage to ancestors, etc. What many people see nowadays as “evil” aspects of the holiday are literally the opposite; people wore disguises to protect themselves from evil spirits and people made Jack ’o’ lanterns to protect the home. It was then incorporated into All Hallows day, when saints are venerated, by the church. “Witchcraft” was also a catch all term used by Christians for those who practiced beliefs that weren’t Christian or Jewish and/or practiced medicine, herbal remedy’s ect. and has a long history in religious discrimination and misogyny, as women in particular were targeted due to the mass hysteria from the fears of the time, some profiteering from styling themselves as “witch hunters” coming up with evidence and getting forced confessions.

My fave character is Dani because she's fearless and fierce. My favorite witch is Winnie played by an Icon Bette Midler. Yes She Can Sing! Check out 'For the Boys' (1991). @@Perid0tStar well I know they turned into pixie dust because of the sun I just think the reason why only Winnie turned into stone is because she was in the graveyard especially because it started from her feet.
So Mary was doin the lip thing on purpose, but if you watch Hocus Pocus 2 you’ll see it’s on the other side and that’s cause she had a stroke later in life
A lot of people were wondering why Emily just sat there and let them basically kill her…..Well in the first few clips of Emily and the witches running through the woods, you can hear Sarah Sanderson singing a song “Come Little Children” which was meant to lure all the children, and put them into a trance like state so they were fully awake….but not exactly conscious enough to know what was happening around them. However, if you pay attention to right after the witches reveal how young “younger” they look after killing Emily, you can actually see a bit on the left corner of the screen…..Emily was still moving because keep in mind, Amanda Shepard “Emily” was a little kid at the time so she had a hard time staying still.
Lil Dani ended up being in a Limp Bizkit video yeeeears later. Tied to a chair in a silk nighty with Fred Durst in her face. Song is called 'Eat You Alive'. You should do a reaction!!!!

Sarah - Sarah Jessica Parker first starred in the 1980s TV series "Square Pegs" & a supporting role in 1984's "Footloose." She would gain her biggest success playing Carrie Bradshaw on "Sex & The City." She is married to fellow actor Matthew Broderick (Ferris Buller).
its not James Marsden
its the other voice actor Jason Marsden
I think she turned to stone because she was in the graveyard which she wasn't able to because it's holy ground
Plus it was morning and the sun had started to come up, so the time limit on that spell sealed the deal like it did for the ones in the air. Such a good movie ^.^
@@Perid0tStar well I know they turned into pixie dust because of the sun I just think the reason why only Winnie turned into stone is because she was in the graveyard especially because it started from her feet.
You should watch more Disney movies on the channel!
Fun fact: real cat, CGI face.
I had assumed puppeteering since 93; that's actually interesting
@@Perid0tStarA full real cat is used in some shots, while a full CGI cat is used in others. Some shots are a combination. Puppetry was also used.
Yesss Bette Midler is a fantastic singer! You should watch the movie Beaches 😊
Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker are in First Wives Club together. Very fun 90s movie
Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah is my favorite character in this movie
I'm high school my 2 best friends and I would be the Sanderson sister for Halloween every year... none of us wanted to be Sarah 😂
Wow.. the fact that you never seen Hocus pocus is 🤯 Ultimate favorite movie to watch every Halloween 🎃 And yes, I had to subscribe 😊
Appreciate you ! 👏🏽
Zachary Binks reminds me of Salem Saberhagen from Sabrina the teenage witch 🧙
I can see some similarities between the both cat actors 🐱 🐈⬛ what do you think 🤔
yes, sara jessica parker really ate a real spider! (in the scene!)
I think the one that turned to stone did because she was on sacred ground.
Also yes Bette Midler sings in real life.
Winferd my favorite
So Mary was doin the lip thing on purpose, but if you watch Hocus Pocus 2 you’ll see it’s on the other side and that’s cause she had a stroke later in life
6:29 this movie was made waaaay before pirates of the caribbeans. So this hanging was made first 😂😂😂
Yes. Bette Midler is a true singer. Got hit songs! Look her up!
If you haven't seen second one, please do. It's so good, and sad, and lovely. Just watch it. It does things to my heart lol
❤ this movie I watch it every Halloween and I make Peanut Butter Cookies. Also in my house I’m the one with all the Halloween decorations.
This one's sequel is actually good, you should watch it. It is funny.
I was 3 when this movie came out and Winny turned into stone because she's more powerful than her sisters
Why not react to hocus-pocus two and make it so everyone can see it for those of us who can’t afford a Patreon
The red headed witches turned to stone because she was on hallowed ground. Otherwise she would have had the same fate as her sisters.
Hi, you asked if any of these actors are doing anything now. They just made a sequel to this movie
Your spot on i definitely crushed on the blonde witch as a kid😂🤷
Well, I guess 4 of my fav reactors wanted to release THIS reaction today. Lol. This is gonna be a long Sunday night.
Thackery Binks is Timothy McGee on NCIS
You should watch The Place beyond the Pines. Super underrated
Better Midlers giggest was Wind Beneath My wings, been recorded by tins of people.
Sarah Jessica Parker, was the main character in Sex and the City. In real life she's married to Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller, "Glory" -- a fabulous Civil War true story movie and the voice of the adult Simba in the original animated Lion King)
The actor who plays Thackery Binx is on ncis as special agent McGee.
Need to check out the sequel
And yes she’s holding her lip
Like that the whole time
I love this movie
I'm still waiting for some reactor to point out that Max's bullies are more California than he is.
I❤ This Movie!
sarah jessica parker was so dam cute in this and you probably know her from sex in the city
OK I have a question and I paused the video so I don’t know if he asked the same question If the cat can talk, why didn’t the cat talk before he left the candle???
My favorite Sistah was Sarah Jessica Parker's character Sarah. She is gorgeous & such a dingbat. "AMUCK AMUCK AMUCK" "TIS FIRM" (about the black river, aka street)
The ONLY kids that stayed acting after this movie were Thachery Binx now he's in "NCIS" & Danny "Thora Birch" .......she was in "Now & Then' (1995) it's a fun one... it's the 90s girl version of "Stand By Me"(1980s) and she's been in a bunch more

When he talked about shoes I wanted ask does anyone know how much retro 4's cost in new york I've got a holiday planned I want some j's
Oh wow, can she sing. Baby, that Bette Middler. She’s a brilliant singer. She’s amazing. She started as a singer and has done quite a bit of acting. My favorite of hers, and it a musical, is Gypsy. It’s long but it’s sooo good.
You may not recognize any of the actors but the bigger names in it are, of course, Bette, Ed Asner and Tony Shalhoub. It’s about Gypsy Rose Lee going from vaudeville to burlesque. It’s pretty great in my opinion.
U will want to watch the 2 one because I will understand
Their is a hocus pocus 2 wat came out last year, she turned to stone Cause of the holy ground and the sun blows them up
