Bret looked out for both Stone Cold and The Rock. Both turned out to be the biggest in the Company
Because Bret wasn't a selfish prick who actually understood the business. He could see beyond himself.
Bret also basically caused the attitude era with the montreal screwjob.. his actions created the most succesful era in modern wrestling.. wow.
@@greatomeister675 Yessir. Bret understood that the business would need new stars to go on and thrive. Who have HHH or HBK put over to the point of superstardom? Nobody. That's who.
I think that down the line when we get past the WWE revisionism Bret Hart will go down as an even more significant figure than he already is.
Bret was the one to persuade Vince to hire Austin because Bret saw superstar written all over Austin before Vince did. He wanted to work with Austin to help get him over.
And Rocky now looks down on them from his mountain of cash.
They all have mountains of cash.
Mitch Gill the Rock is almost in the billions hhh and Shawn Michaels will never see that type of status individually
@Mitch Gill
Rock is out of the business
HBK & Trips are still in the business
Yeah, I'm pretty sure HHH and HBK cry themselves too sleep on pillows full of cash every night because Rock has a couple million more.
@@NeverIast 🤣😂👍🤦♂️
When Bret was working with young Rocky, he approached Vince and said, “I don’t think I should beat him. He is going to be something in the future”. I know this pissed off Shawn and HHH.
Bret & Owen took Rock under their wing in his early years. That’s why Rock always said he owes so much to Bret Hart especially with the Politics backstage.
HHH & HBK were pushing for Bret to bury Rocky
Rubbish, Bret above all others hates not being the winner.
@@highjim7778 Bret never beat Rock clean to my knowledge and also was very good to him backstage. Every champ hates losing but at same time Bret always did what was best for business.
@@thepublichousebrandcom Truth. There was a blurb in his book about Vince wanting Bret to beat Rocky for his IC title before feuding with Austin (or during, don't remember) but Bret thought that woulda hurt the young Rocky and changed Vince's mind on the finish, instead pushing for a DQ "injuring" the Rock with his outside Corner figure 4. Bret always had good things to say about the Rock, other than his sharpshooter though lol.
Damn who ever would of thought rocky miavia and the ring master would go on to be major main event stars in 3 years
Just goes to show that there is still potential. Ignorant people are always saying "yhere will never be anyone comparable to the rock and stone cold" yeah because talent keeps getting buried so we don't see the potential.
Fanboy Hunter yep
Well people who saw him training thought he was gonna be champion some day.
Stuart Dawson Rock I wasn’t sure about back in the day Austin after his ecw run with the promos I saw maybe
Or the blue blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley
“They didn’t bully Rocky, they did the same thing to everyone.” So they bullied everyone.
Man...I would have gone to prison if someone put their literal feces in my food.
Thats not bully, thats harrasment. Bullying is face 2 face, trolling is more cowardly
Back then it was called 'hazing' or 'ribbing'
Pretty much. I've noticed in other videos that Jim only thinks of bullying the way you see it in high school movies, but everything they did fits the definition as well.
So you’re saying The Rock wasn’t capable of defending himself?
A 33 year old Shawn and a 29 year old Hunter acting like grade school children
High schoolers never grow up, they just get paid to act the way they acted in High School.
They still are sometimes
nah. chronological age doesnt even matter with a cut-up. cut-ups never get older than 11. and thats 11 if your lucky- a lot of them get into their late 50 and 60s and still theyre pulling the same stuff they were back in the 70s and 80s its a sad sight to see...
That's why I never buy their bullshit on NXT pushing the likes of Adam Cole and Tomasso Ciampa and Shayna Baszler, simply to make up on the talents they bullied and buried in the past
They knew their spots were going to be taken away
The fact that Rock v Micheals never happened is proof enough something was going on.
And the timeline, with Shawn's back don't really lineup. Shawn didn't come back till 03'. By that time Rock was starting to get into Hollywood, and was on the way out.
Exactly
Timeline dont add up. Rock was leaving as Shawn came back and between 96 to 98. They both missed time in 97 and both were faces and heels at the same time. So they had no chance or reason to ever have a match
The Thomahawk wrong he came back in the summer of 02 and rock was still around though slowly veering away from the ring
@@karlitosway7474 yeah, got my dates mixed up, but Shawn was working that program with HHH throughout the summer, and fall, then worked the feud Jericho at mania 2003. By that time Rock was on the way out.
The more Jim speaks, the more I lose respect for the professionalism of HBK. He said when WCW went out of business is the same time Shawn's back healed up 🤣.

And yet people still call him everything under the sun, he just speaks his mind and when what he says ends up being true which is 99.9% of the time they praise him
@@willjohnboy Bret always seemed truthful and honest. Always preferred him over Hogan.

ROCK 2020
The bullying probably gave the rock that extra edge to become the best
Thats when he started hearing "it's about drive, it's about power" in his head
Wouldn't surprise me but I'll bet their tune changed quickly when he became a mega star.
HHH eventually did but it was too late for Michaels. As soon as Rocky became a main eventer and achieved some backstage stroke, he told upper management that he would NEVER work with Shawn. He said something to The Rock's mom backstage that made her upset and that was probably the final straw.
@@walterharris4681 it was rock grandma chief maivias wife
HHH will never be the star that Austin or Rock were and Shawn Michaels was champ when WWF had some of its lowest ratings.
By all accounts HHH and the rock are good friends, HBK however remains to be seen.
@@walterharris4681 That's so wrong. Go back and watch the 2008 Hall of Fame, Rock said he was great friends with Shawn, and they both smiled at each other, it seemed really genuine.

Now but at that time and basically thought the 2000’s the rock was not as big
Yeah, literally and figuratively. And financially.
Kam Fisher Oh he surpassed them before that in the late 90’s it was Rock and Austin. He’d already gotten past Shawn, Triple H did become a huge star but I guess it’s a toss up between the two in the early 2000’s. But after that The Rock is what made Wrestlemania 28 the most successful (not best in quality) Wrestlemania ever. Triple H and Shawn combined couldn’t do that
I knew he was a punk getting punked
Real Son Triple h was the best wrestler in the world in 2000 the rock didn’t become a mega start until like 2011 or 2012 when he did the fast five movie
Cream always rises, and The Rock never forgot how good Bret was to him. He’s still close to the Hart family to this day. Nattie has talked about how Rock called her when her dad died, and gave her encouragement.
Imagine if Rock ends up buying WWE one day and ends up being Triple H’s boss?

Jo M I know but I can dream.
Meanwhile Bret goes out and has a great match with IC champ Rocky Maivia, allowing Rocky to show his wrestling skills and no-quit attitude. Bret beats him down and gets DQ'd at the end, and further buries his own character as a loser and a heal.
Bret did more in his last 2 years to help elevate the future stars for the WWE than anyone, Austin, the Rock, and he even did the honors for Shawn with the Iron Man match. It really sounds like Shawn just continuously dropped the ball every time he had his shot, and looked to blame everyone else and be an A-hole politician behind the scenes to Vince.
Bret gets labelled as a guy who turned his back on the business and wouldn't drop the belt on his way out, but I can see why he would take that stance with Shawn. The fact is he was very true to the business and had no problem helping push guys that had that same respect for the business, just like Curt Hennig did for him.
In that match Bret v Rocky, Rocky does a Perfect-Plex, maybe was to honor Curt? I know the Rock would often use the russian leg sweep and the sharp shooter in his matches, I'm pretty sure he was paying his respect to Bret for helping him out.
Rock first used the Sharpshooter when the Montreal Screwjob was recreated in the 98 Survivor Series. After that he may have continued using it as a tribute to Owen Hart, who was a good friend of his.
Still for a guy who knows Bret personally and could probably set up a teaching session. There's no good reason Rock's Sharpshooter is so horrible looking.
@@Lord_Bibulous ya Bret was a bit bow legged and had a lower center of gravity, he always looked really balanced for some reason. Maybe that's why his sharpshooter always looked the best, he got real low on it and sank it in.
Always thought Bret's looked better than Sting's also, but Sting had the other finisher and the Stinger Splash, plus he could press slam guys, so.
@Justin B The relationship goes back to their fathers. Rocky Johnson trained in The Dungeon and wrestled in Stampede for a time.
Don't forget Shawn wasn't 39-40 and when he did come back in better mental shape he pt on great matches and did a lot for younger ones.
@@user2176 Bret's moves always looked better than everyone else's. His Russian leg sweep and suplex were perfect. Most guys put in a lot of work on the entertainment side, but you could tell Bret really practiced the craft of wrestling. It looked real when he did it, and he never used moves that were obviously fake. The choke slam, for example, looks awesome, but 95% of the time, you can see the victim jumping up on cue and then tucking in his legs to make it easier for the Undertake to hold him up longer. Even Bret's second-rope elbow drop looked legit. Jumping off the top rope looks awesome, but it's so impractical. It takes too long to get up there and the risk of injury would be too high if you missed or got caught by your opponent. An elbow drop from the second rope makes much more sense from a "real" wrestling standpoint. I always really appreciated that stuff.
Hennig is the only other guy who made it look so real.
I like the way people in the business talk about Rocky. Jim, Bruce, JR, Vince just seem to love him and his professionalism. Such a great wrestler, will never be replaced

Bret Hart's influence on wrestling is absolutely priceless. Got Austin to the spotlight with some of the best matches of all time and was edgy enough to start a war with Vince. Taking up for The Rock proves further the guy saw talent when he seen it. Legend!
It wasn't only that. Their families knew each as well. Rocky Johnson worked for Stu Hart in Calgary.

Owen Hart has always been a nice person according to various different people in wrestling. There's a lot of jealousy and envy in wrestling.

You’re
Hahahaha. My wife and I just watched that again last night. So hilarious to see the Rock looking fat. Lol.
They weren't bullying Rocky as much as they were going behind his back putting him down to Vince.
The story is Shawn was furious that The Rock did a top rope dropkick (I actually think Bret is mistaken and is referring to the the top rope crossbody, since neither Rocky nor Shawn ever used a top rope dropkick) in a match and he chewed him out in the locker room saying it's HIS move and he never wants to see him use it again. Then, he stormed out and slammed the door. The Rock was apologetic, but Bret told him Shawn was full of shit and nobody can claim the rights to a move that's as common as that and even Owen uses it.
Bret said both Shawn and Triple H were jealous of The Rock, saw him as a real threat, and tried to wear him down little by little until he lost all his confidence. I'm sure they were just a little triggered when The Rock ended up stepping over Paul and took the main event spot within a year while Shawn was crippled at home watching RAW high on somas.
Wow, crazy the bit you wrote at the end
Shawn is a twat. For me he was never the greatest wrestler is the world not even close. Without backstage politics and Vince's boot licking Shawn would have been no where. For me Chris Jericho(although some may argue with his run in AEW) and arguably Aj styles are better than Shawn they always have been and they have been successful all around the world.

And then the Impossible happen with Triple H getting with vince's daughter. He knew if there was one way to get to the main event it was her lol.
Correction: the heat between Johnson and Michaels actually goes back to in the mid-late 80s when Michaels was working in Hawaii for Johnson's grandmother Lia. I'm not aware of the specific incident(s), but the heat goes back to when Johnson was a teenager.
I don't get why Jim is so triggered by use of the term "bullying" to describe HBK and Triple H's asshole behavior. The Kliq, Bradshaw, Bob Holly, and Chris Benoit have been called backstage bullies for years and no one had a problem describing them as such until now.
Wait benoit and holly too? Well from benoit he did bullied miz tho

@@mohammedriadh4990 That's actually an internet rumor. Bob Holly only stiffed Dupree, Puder and Cappoteli. Cappoteli because during tough enough while taking bumps in training he was prancing around and laughing and giggling so Hardcore Holly showed him that wrestling isn't a joke. Dupree was because of him getting drunk in his rental car and pissing him off. Puder was because he tried to shoot on Kurt Angle and as a punishment, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Bob Holly stiffed him at the Royal Rumble.
In fact lots of guys that worked with Bob said he wasn't a bully and he was just a tough guy. He pushed lots of young talent to get better and guys like CM Punk and John Morrison thanked him later on.
Also, Holly didn't stiff Lesnar. Lesnar was sick with the flu and was groggy at times during the match, he didn't have proper grip on Bob and as a result dropped him on his neck. Lesnar later apologized to Holly and Holly accepted and a year later worked a main event program with Lesnar around November 2003 to January 2004 that saw Bob Holly become a crowd fave for a little while and helped Lesnar beat another legit tough guy, so it was a win win. I mean, shitting in someones lunch box, -or even having the audacity to do something like that to other people in the locker room is pretty horrible and cartoonishly villainous. Just making the environment in the locker room like that is very bullying.
Yes its messed up but also people forget that back in the 90's it was very toxic all them where young and assholes like who wasn't also people have said the rock told triple h and shawn that he was not black and that his dad was white and shawn and hhh where confused
@Mitch Gill like i said the 90's where very toxic like Chris Jericho said everybody was dumb stupid young and grew from all that if the rock is not bothered by it and he is friends with both Shawn and triple h why does it matter and last time i checked the rock did some stuff to he told triple h and shwn he was not black and that his dad was white the rock dad even said that
@@91mercedez Could just be a pr move with The Rock since HHH is Mcmahon's son in law.
@@aboriginalson idk but none of us where there so who knows what happen
Konnan maintains to this day that X-pac was actually the one that shat in Juventud Guerrera's bag before his and Guerrera's infamous locker room brawl that got Guerrera fired. Whether or not Konnan's lying, applying consistency with the Kliq suggests X-pac would be the more likely guilty party, the perfect person to frame even if he was innocent.
The Rock is now the world's biggest movie star and Sean is lucky to get a few minutes on a low rated cable show.
Shawn is widely known as one of the best of all time, has a cushty well paid job with HHH on NXT and will be employed by WWE for the rest of his life. He's made millions for 25 years. He's doing alright
My name is Myles Elgaard, and one day I’m going to be the worlds biggest movie star.
Exactly. Shawn is garbage overall. Bret and Rock are superior.
Who's sean? Lol
Those whö are first Will be last...u know the rest
That Rock pic is hilarious. I remember when he wore that goofy outfit.
Whoever does the drawings is a legend haha. They crack me up and this one, with the old Rocky Maevia get up is hilarious.
Cruises on " Lake Havasoma " BRILLIANT!
HBK and HHH had a history. Shane Douglas, Bam Bam, Mabel etc. all said the Kliq was horrible to deal with. The HBK/Rock stories abound. There's quite a few of them floating around.
HHH, though, its damn near personal with The Rock. They're onscreen heat helt so real, it has to be real. Go watch any post-1996 match between Rock and HHH.
It translated into some great matches and an all time great feud.
@Mitch Gill Kliq Not Clique
@Mitch Gill no i was currecting you on ur misspelling of the word Kliq, And If Shawn Was Racist why was he sitting nxt to and chatting and smiling with the rocks mum in 2008 at the hall of fame??
Triple H copied Shane Douglas
The Klig bullied Vader as well...
Rock looked like a chump coming in.. he certainly was not one tho.. Shawn or H would've got those hands
😂 Rock ain’t whooping nobodies ass. Muscle don’t mean you know how to fight
John Gurule The Rock was a football player at the University of Miami. Hunter and Shawn probably never played a real sport in their lives. Guarantee you Dwayne would’ve kicked their asses.
@@rickytpb2164 playing with balls doesn't mean you know how to fight. Unless it's sumo.
vlada it means he has real competition experience not just play fighting. He was a defensive lineman. So his job was to literally overpower a 300 lb human being and get to the QB or RB.
@@vlada Thing is, Rocky did know how to fight. He wasn't any martial artist, bouncer or soldier, but he could handle himself against a guy off the street, or a punk in the football locker room, which is actually one of his more embarrassing moments as he chased a guy across a football field threatening to kill him. And The Rock actually did know how to legitimately wrestle. Again, not like he was some Pan Am Games champion or anything, but he was as much go as he was show.
"Chew up crackers and blew crumbs on him. " Haha. Damn. That would be fucked.
Just watched a Sunday night Heat video with the Corporate Ministry and Jim on commentary, would love to hear his thoughts on the stable and the angle in general
Another reason for me not to like Michaels.
I mean that was years ago people grow from that yall forget that in the 90's wwe was very toxic they all where assholes im pretty sure the rock was to
@@91mercedez he wasnt
@@legendarytsuna6530 how do you know you never met the rock i heard he was a asshole to nwo when they first came to the wwe

Jim doesn't remember HHH vs Rock at Summerslam 98. Do a watch along with that one then.. Classic match
Always fun listening to Cornett.
Cruising “Lake Have-a-Soma” 😂😂
Mark Henry told a story about someone taking sh*t in the Rock’s food.
It was the kliq
The Rock always been humbled I mean he let the Hurricane get a cheap victory off of him
just a reminder that no individual in the thumbnail has a full head of hair
Crazy what time does....Father time is undefeated....
The Ms. Pac Man line cracked me up 😄
Rock and stone cold didn't get high. That's why. Lake Have a Soma. Those Comas are no joke
@Pitt Burgh steroids, maybe?🤔 Also, higher-than-average, athletic, body mass!
The Great One!!! one of the absolute best persons to ever exist, what a legend
It doesn't surprise me to hear things like this especially as Shawn Michaels tried to have The Rock taken out of the WM15 main event in favor of Triple H but looking back at everything that's happened, he still went on to become one of the biggest stars ever in the wrestling business and is now the highest paid actor in the world. So it's more than safe to say that in the end, Rock did indeed get the last laugh
FOR SUURREE!!!
Lol he literally described them as bullies
That's why Ultimate Warrior buried HHH in Wrestle mania...
Rock did what Jordan did in the NBA. Accomplished so much in a little bit of time
So translation: "They were in fact bullying and antagonizing him as they did anyone else that they were jealous of or thought would get in the way of them ruling the company but I'm going to beat around the bush and refuse to use the word bullying even though that's exactly what they were doing."
I heard Shawn and hhh was trying to convince Vince not to put rock in the maina main event against Austin and but mick in their in match instead which rock has stated that Austin was actually his best in wwf when he was in the wwf Austin even bet rock beer if he could make Austin laugh that why rock oversold the stunner like crazy because he was trying to corpse Austin
Exactly. This video is dumb.
THANK YOU for pointing out the suspect timing of Shawn Michaels' 'miraculous recovery'!
It is quite the timing that he healed just as his contract was coming up.
thats just b.s he has a scar on his bk from the surgery and it was wwe that called hbk back to be part of the nwo
@@ajsgaming8003 I never denied he had an injury nor that he had surgery. I question the timing of his 'heeling'. And his genuineness as a 'reborn Christian'.
@@henrikschmidt3964 if you hear about his church work then you would know his genuineness as a reborn christian. and the fact that his wife is very religious also inspired him.
@@ajsgaming8003 I am not overly convinced. You are. Fair enough.
@@henrikschmidt3964 You clearly don't know or understand how it all worked out. When Shawn came back as part of the NWO he wasn't even supposed to wrestle. He was supposed to be a mouthpiece only as he wasn't confident his body could take regular bumps given that he had spinal fusion surgery (of course the part about major spinal surgery is always missed from Jim's account, and people always have unnecessary spinal surgery right?...). It was only over two months after he came back and was comfortable doing light work in the ring that he was persuaded reluctantly to do Summerslam as a one off match. He then took another couple of months to see how his body reacted to see if he could have another match or not. It wasn't like all of a sudden he was working a full-time schedule. Really he only began doing a more full-time as opposed to part-time couple of spots, nearly a year after he actually came back, right after WM19 in 2003 after his Jericho feud. Those are the facts my friend, not the stuff that people make up.
Certainly The Rock has enough payback because of his success, and I think the relationship between HBK and him has improved over time. The Rock said he regreted not working with Shawn when he was inducting his father in the Hall of Fame, and Shawn was sitting right next to Rock's Grandma. Old wounds are apparently healed.
The fans bullied the rock too. Lets not forget the pure hatred and die rocky die chants
Wasn’t it signs only ? but there was loud Rocky sucks chant
Well yeah thats because the Rocky Maivia character was one of the worst of all time, then he embraced the hate, and eventually people started to love him. The chants payed off in the long run, it turned Rocky Maivia into The Rock
Whether it was Hunter, Shawn or the fans who bullied him, Dwayne was just meant to be great. it was just his destiny.
And also "Rocky Sucks"...
What’s funny is The Rock became a much bigger star then HHH and Shawn Michaels I mean look at him now he is the most paid actor in Hollywood and owns a Football company, maybe future president of this country there is no limit for the Rocks potential, so Michaels and HHH can keep the WWE since is at an all time worse now in 2020 .
You are right wwe SUCKS.
Rocky I think won his first ic title the night Shawn "lost his smile" and forfeited the belt
Damn Shawn’s back being broken all those years was a work? All these years I thought the man was legitimately hurt.
He was fine by late 99 he could’ve comeback but had to deal with drugs and pills that’s what kept him out till 2002
@@daherreysso2826 You do know that the same kind of injury that Shawn had legitimately ended the career of Steamboat, right? Almost the exact same thing, to a T.
"The Rock was a Pat Patterson project" cracked and horrified me at the same time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol there is a clip of pat talking about the rock dude sounds like he came in his pants just talking about him
Well pat and soul man rocky Johnson were a tag team in the 70s and they worked plenty of matches in the wwwf and Canada so pat was looking out for his friend
He was grooming him. For success.
@@That_Guy- Pat just wanted a piece of the People's ass.
You could tell back in ‘97 the Rock was going places. Everyone knew it. Triple H always seemed like the guy who he personally didn’t really bother anyone but his friends caused all the trouble and he just turned a blind eye.
thats why triple h is the most succesful out of all of them . He aimed high and worked his ass off instead of fuckin around and injecting all kinds of shit in his body. Still surprises me that a clean and hard working guy like hhh would hang around with crackheads who got the mindset of children. This is why I think HHH used the kliq to gain an advantage in his career the same way he used stephanie. He really is the game and you gotta respect that, second richest wwe wrestler of all time , right below the rock
No you couldn't lol he was getting pushed too soon and that smiling rocky Miavia gimmick was horrible.
This makes me smile, it makes me appreciate Rock and Austin’s rise that much more.
Triple H and HBK also buried CM Punk when he started. The ‘click’ group huh. They sound like jerks.
Interesting. So Shawn who retired from in ring wrestling in 1998 was paid till 2001 just to keep him from going to WCW? And then when wcw folded WWE refused to pay him money and he was kinda forced to return? So his back injury had nothing to do with any of it?
Remember kids, it's not bullying if you bully everyone.
Love this artwork haha Rocky’s face is priceless
In the Soviet Union Kruschev got to the top position by being Stalin's funny fool for many years. Same thing with HBK and HHH
And how am I supposed to interpret this picture?
hahaha....the 'kid n play haircut'.... killin it Corny
"They didn't BULLY him per se", proceeds to describe textbook workplace bullying.
This is the big difference between Bret and the HBK's and HHH's. Bret knew part of his responsibility of being a main guy wasn't just to perform but also bring the new guys through (passing the torch). Fair enough HHH and HBK are trying to do their bit now but this is mostly behind the scenes. Bret would do this for these guys in the ring where it matters.
i dont condone what hhh and hbk did but hbk did put over a lot guy in his second stint in wwe and hhh had a lot more clean losses then people remember . he lost to shelton benjaim ,beniot ,cena ,goldberg and undertaker clean
hhh is like flair in wcw he might have buried a lot guy but he had a lot o clean losses too .
