This video is a continuation of my new chapter backstory narrations, this time for Taurie Cain! Her lore is more connected to previous characters, so this one took longer to make, and I also wanted to wait for the devs to release new content (Like they did, as you can see on the thumbnail) to get some interesting tidbits out of her, but her lore will be more complete once she is part of the archives! The footage for this video is from 2vs8. I sadly was not able to get and record quality matches with Taurie Cain on the PTB, so this is the next best thing!
i think it's more so the entity is just becoming so strong they dont care, worship or not. It was pretty much the same in binding of frank stone. Some woman in that was grooming frank stone to be the perfect killer for the entity and the entity's reward for her, on the verge of death or success was EGC moring her lol.
@@Yanramich The entity can create a whole realm, so I think making someone a few inches shorter or taller isn’t that far fetched of something it could do
@@Yanramich My head canon is the Entity roids up the killers, making them bigger and stronger, and supresses and weakens the survivors while making them durable so they can endure more torment. Look at ingame Michael Myers vs movie Myers. Movie Myers is normal size, where DBD Myers is like 7 feet tall at least.
The lore paints the picture that the entity made her a survivor due to her slight hesitation. But it’s possible that the entity never intended to make her a killer, gotta remember it’s PURE evil
It seems to me that the entity saw it could get way more emotion out of her by "failing" her. Killers don't hesitate, their bloodlust is what attracts the entity's attention. Taurie was never bloodthirsty, but she was extremely devoted. Enough so that making her a survivor would shatter her will again and again. A delicious morsel for the entity no doubt.
I don't think it's hesitation that got her here. I think it's just that maybe she was never meant to be a killer in the first place. It was all a false hope. The reason the Entity choose this exact moment to take her is probably because it's when her hope is at the strongest. Because she believes she was so close to being a "disciple". This is probably the perfect moment for the Entity to reap her sweet emotion and return all her devotion with despair. All these times, she was raised like a pig waiting to be slaughtered. Man.. that's cold.. and very sinister..
You know what extra lore fact this means? The entity favors depression more than it does rage or blood lust. We already know that the survivors can become killers thanks to talbot(the blight), so having taurie become one later on in chapters could be some cool lore.
I had this crazy idea about a licensed "fallen survivor" killer. Being this killer Ellie, from The Last of Us. I know, I know, she's actually a lovely young woman, but in the world of TLoU2 she's the living nightmare of some groups, and she's actually killed a lot of people in her quest for revenge. Now imagine the Entity snatching her, altering the cordyceps within her and also her perception of reality. She could be like an intelligent infected, capable of blocking paths with a (weak) wall of cordyceps. The name could be "The Cordyceps".
I've always wanted an evil survivor. The closest we've had to a survivor being evil was Yun-Jin Lee, but I would argue that she was more selfish than deliberately evil.
It would be cool if one day we got a Killer that is Taurie Cain a version of her that never heisted for even a second, a killer that would sacrifice all in the name of her god... The Devout
What she doesn't realize is the inner betrayal she feels about the entity is a sweet meal for the entity. It's like unrequited love, it doesn't get to taste that as much. So she was taken to provide.
I don't think she was betrayed by the Entity. She hesitated at the threshold and the Entity took that as a sign that she was weak. So it took them both as sacrifice.
Tbf it’s likely Augustine is the leader of The Black Vale, she’s been surviving for centuries through different universes so it would explain how The Black Vale has spread throughout the omniverse. I had thought Plague’s original followers may have started the Black Vale after witnessing Adiris pray to The Entity and her being taken, maybe Augustine was one of them?
I believe that too. The black talon is obviously within our haddie's universe that was taken. While the other haddie that was never taken are called the black vale. Which is the universe where we got most of the lore about them from other characters like the artist.
In the livestream Dork explained that they were a faction of The Black Vale, implying that rather than each different version we’ve seen of the cult being alternate universe versions, they’re instead factions and subdivisions of The Black Vale
Think about it, her contantly being frustrated and trying to please the entity probably generates more emotion for the entity than if she was a killer. (I haven't watched the video yet, so sorry if I said what he already said, I just had this in mind and had to say it 🥲)
This is pretty sweet. In my head I wanted a Killer/Survivor combo that would actually switch places DURING the trials. A Killer that becomes a Survivor and vice versa. Maybe lore wise, the Entity puts rules that you can’t switch roles so this new Chapter is as close as that idea as possible.
5:50 Really cool lore video and probably my favourite survivor backstory but can we just appreciate that god like Dwight save attempt?! That was insanely clever!
It is worh noting that blight might had entered the bleed in his tome lore, because he have the archives blue like skin, that is from collection called enter the bleed
Yes! He was on a team investigating what happened to a man that entered a Bleed, and when inside, rather than save his dying team, he prioritised his research. This was in his story “The Human Quotient” in Tome 12
I'm really hoping we get a future chapter with a Molak as the killer and Jordan as the survivor, to tie up the loose ends and also give us a more traditional pirate killer!
She was definitely raised to be a survivor, like the antithesis of the Artist. The Entity loves shattered hope (unless it's the perk)...Taurie going through the trials as a survivor (and everything that entails) along with the added drama of FOREVER wondering if this is all just the next part of her test to prove herself loyal. One of her voice lines says that; something like "This is just another test...I'm sure of it."
Not too surprised of there being a betrayal as we have seen the entity pull betrayals before biggest example being in The Casting of Frank Stone when Augustine was betrayed at the end by the entity as we know the entity cares for nothing but it’s own growth, power and survival
Taurie is the first survivor I've been excited about since Yun-Jin. Haddie was at least interesting, but 90% of survivors seem to be "nice person that had bad things happen to them" or "fetish" with no in between.
Elodie is also really cool, basically the main character of DBD, at least imo. Her parents were part of The Imperiati, and organisation that tried to stop The Black Vale. The children of these members formed the Pariahs (Felix is also a Pariah) and searched Dyer Island. They found The Blight’s Laboratory and accidentally summoned The Entity, which took their parents. Elodie developed intense depression and grief, and dedicated her life to understanding and stopping The Entity through her research into occult artifacts
It would be kinda interesting that at some point in the future we get a version of tori from another timeline if you will where she actually committed the sacrificr and became a killer. So wed have 2 of the same character just a different version a killer and a survivor
I’m pretty sure Pauline Stamper was the director of Descend Beyond, not Nic’s agent. Augustine Lieber would also be an example of a high-up Black Vale member as she might even be the leader based on how old and immortal she is
I left awhile ago because you mentioned something about cancel culture or something and I was so tired of hearing about politics and people pretending to be mad at some theoretical mob of internet people, so happy to not be hearing politics anymore
I'm asking to the dbd lore enjoyer, can jordan become a killer ? Something really cruel, the entity would test her, and since she hesitated the entity then thought she wasn't worthy of becoming a killer and took jordan instead, while torturing her for eternity as a survivor ?
I doubt anything could turn Jordan into a killer since he risked his life to carry on Haddie’s work, and put together The House of Arkham group in another universe
@ none of our killers in game are killers as they were tortured by The Entity, however there are lore entries about survivors being tortured by The Entity until they become killers. The Blight used to be a survivor, but it’s clear he has always had the ambition and desire to hurt others that is required from a killer based on his willingness to do anything to fuel his Pustula addiction and his torturing of other killers in the name of research
Honestly skull merchant's terrible base lore was just the product of the the tome system they switched to at the time, where they'd give the new characters an immediate follow up tome in the midchapter. It led to a lot of the characters at the time having very bland or unfocused base lore since they also had to set things up for their tome stories. Skull merchant actually gets some decent characterization in her tome, focusing her character into the role of the cutthroat megalomaniac who needs to be the best, rather than the 50 different colliding ideas stitched onto her in her base lore. Glad they switched from that system because she was far from the only character hurt by it. She hesitated for a couple of seconds and it was enough to disappoint the Entity, damn.
Or maybe it will make her give more emotion this way. A betray by the thing she worship.
