Let me know if the editing style is something you enjoy. I was unsure if putting the bio snippets was the right choice, or if the music / ambiance was too distracting 🤔 The goal of this video and format is to make something unique for my channel, so its an inbetween a classic youtube lore essay and a brainrot short ADHD reddit narration with gameplay. If you are looking for something more in depth, please wait for Pixel Bush's videos, as he does fantastic jobs at it and I do not want to compete! Or, if you are looking for a summary, I am sure there are plenty from other content creators!
What I find interesting about this chapter is that (going off of their early lives), the survivor and killer, by all means, should be in the opposite spot. Portia had a loving father who raised her with strong moral values and a love for adventure whereas our survivor was raised to worship the entity. I just love that dynamic, it's so interesting
It’s very interesting theme wise as well. Both are stories of loyalty. Portia grew up with a loving loyal father who left an undeniable positive impression on her. She loved him so much, she went on a wild goose chase just to get revenge for him. This isn’t mentioning Snug, who devoted himself to Portia and, in an albeit twisted way, stayed loyal even into hell itself after years of separation. Taurie being a cultist, of course was devoted to the entity but failed to follow one command, a command which would define her entire life. She failed to follow her deity blindly and was punished for not being a loyal follower.
I love the kind of mastermind they make the entity out to be in the lore. Its patient, in control, and it knows all the perfect ways to turn you into the monster it needs you to be
It's also what makes it so scary as a concept! Many otherworldy entities do stuff for no reason. The Entity's plan is deliberate, precise (At least most of the times!)

Veca despite how much magical potential he has. only held off a eldritch creature for a few minutes. eldritch things by nature are more powerful then anything in existence. there called the old gods for a reason. but unlike the eldritch and outer gods. the entity is smart. it plans. at the end of the day. a mere lich never had a chance against something born from beyond the limits of this world and the next
@darkron288 the entity isn't the main character, it's the driving antagonistic force of the story. Mary Sue esque characters are the protagonist of a story. I would recommend you endeavor to learn more about narrative devices and structures so you can more properly recognize them as opposed to mislableing them and hurting your enjoyment of the story as a side effect.
That could also be part of it's nature! I took it as something the game needs to do, just like how she appears the same way when you choose her in the lobby
That could be the case, however it's weird how Snug would have survived the boat attack, and how he was already trained and understood The Houndmaster even if it's stated in the lore that she was not able to begin their training! It's a mystery that would need more information to be revealed about them 👀

I forget the specifics, but, things like the hag learning of her hexes, or the Blight's lore in general. Who's to say that can't extend to animals?The entity putting the knowledge of how to survive the island into Snug's mind?
I agree to. They also said decades passed after snugs disappearance. So I definitely believe the entity kept and manipulated snug then used him to lure her in the fog.
@@MintSkull Oh, I have another thing for why I believe it to actually BE Snug! Simply put... Snug acts like a dog. Contrast with Victor, for example. A character we know canonically died, and the Entity 'brought back' for its killer to use. Victor is just a little gremlin that runs around and jumps on people occasionally. Victor doesn't do childish things, or talk to his sister, or anything. He doesn't 'act' like 'Charlotte's brother'. He 'acts' like 'a gremlin created by the entity to attack survivors'. Then you have Snug. Who... Acts like a dog. I mean, just LOOK at the petting animation. The way his tail wags and how he licks Portia's hand. The way he, simply put, acts like an actual dog, instead of the entity's interpretation of how a dog would be.
I think her glowing eye is the way she she's through Snug's eyes when you control him. She holds it to cover it, which may be how she sees through his eyes, similar to Ms.PotatoHead from Toy Story. That could explain the glowing eye

Y'know... I wonder if Molak is going to be a second Pirate killer later on, where he's the more 'traditional' tricorne wearing, cutlass wielding, flintlock connoisseur. That would be pretty cool to have two killers searching for each other, both seeking revenge against each other, but the Entity will never let them meet since the abundance of their hatred is too appetizing to give up. So the Entity just leads them on endless wild goose chases, hunting traces of each other for eternity while slaughtering anyone that they see as in their way. Great video, by the way.
That would be super cool to be fair! I would love to have two killers connected besides Oni and Spirit, where they are sworn enemies! We know Molak was taken by The Entity for sure, and maybe they could make him see all survivors as if they were Portia, just to feed onto his rage! He is also an absolute trash person so it's already fitting for a killer role!
On the otherhand, you can have him as another bad natured survivor just like the new one with this chapter. I can imagine him begrudgingly trying to “recruit” the survivors and cursing them out when they miss skill checks or perform bad plays; maybe his perks would all center around all that
I actually feel so bad for Portia though, first her father was killed by molaks son Tarik which she got revenge on by decapitatiing him but she missed the chance on killing molak and the fact that her dog ain’t real is prob so sad bc she doesn’t even know snug is fake and the chances are the entity could have him hostage or he’s was killed by it But maybe we could get molak as a survivor or a legendary skin and Portia can have voice lines to him and he can have voice lines encountering her in a chase or maybe she can mori him in a different way
Backstory wise, it's similar to Charlotte. The Victor she has, clearly isn't her twin brother, but they are comforted/make due with the Entity's facsimile. 🫂❤️
She seems to react to the survivors in her mori that's accurate to her lore, she probably doesn't see the survivor AS Molek, but likely she just sees them as his crew or simply like those other castaways on the Island that she killed, just survivors being in her way.
I couldn't help but notice how Houndmaster's lore is similar to this of the Twins. Both Portia and Charlotte are women who went through hardship at the young age, had to survive in an unfamiliar places, seeking revenge and loosing their companions in progress. So I wouldn't be surprised if Snug will turn out to be an auric cell creation like Victor.
I like how Snug's status is so ambiguous. They disappeared while she was claiming the ship, then reappeared in the realm. For all we know, Snug got taken at that point or was never even on the island with her in the fiirst place and was a hallucination

I don't like.to think Victor is fake. I think he just came back wrong. Because why would the Entity make a fake when she can just bring back the real.one
I love all the implications this leaves *White Eyes confirmation *Snug likely an Entity construct like (allegedly) Victor *Dragon’s Tooth Island map in the future *Molak as a potential pirate survivor / secondary lore killer in the future (Similar to Spirit/Oni)
I hope we do get the Dragons Tooth map, I love pirate themed stuff. Being able to go around a beach, some jungle, and a shipwrecked ship would be peak, maybe some barrels and food scattered around the environment, and some dimly lit abandoned shacks that have food, rum, ect in them
it doesn't even have to be connected to the white eyes theory - portia's eyes aren't even white also she basically goes mad if she doesn't torture and kill people, so by now she's just insane and probably constantly hallucinating
I liked this new killer from the very beginning, I don't even know why. But now knowing her lore, I started to like her even more and I want to buy her chapter.
Hope you enjoy her! IMO she is an insta-buy day one, not only because I make content, but also because I love using the dog to bite survivors, reminds me so much of games with hard skillshots like Smite!
Also fun fact if you didn't notice it before, Snug's Eyes glow extra bright flaming almost (brighter than normal) when Portia briefly controls him at the end of his first Dash.
I believe Fog Snug isn't real, and the Entity certainly tricked Portia into visualizing many Survivors as Molak or his crewmates. The Entity played the long game with this one and slowly drove her mad.
Portia has tons of unique mori voice lines for specific survivors that imply she sees them as they actually are. AFAIK so far, she has special voice lines for the core four survivors, some of the original survivors that came after them, and even Nicolas Cage. Check out DStrike, they're uploading a bunch of them.
In this one, her dad was actually amazing! She lowkey might have the best family out of all characters in the entity's realm! Sadly we do not know about her mother...
Trapper Wraith Hillbilly Bubba (his whole family tbh) Clown Spirit Oni Artist Skull merchant And Houndmaster Does the entity also have daddy issues or something?
Maybe the theme connection between Portia and Taurie are both lost family members at a young age, both grew up in with experience in Overlap or Bleed (From Taurie's lore). Doomed Course Must be meaning of how both The Houndmaster and Taurie were doomed at the beginning of seeing their families died and grew up with the entity rated manipulating both of their minds at a young age.
P.S I definitely called it! I did thought this through and it was confirmed by the Devs Livestream! I'm sad I didn't get some interaction tho. But I forgot to add how both Portia and Taurie were both gotten interrupted by the entity as they were both about to kill their target.
Age wise, I could see her being 40 years old while Molak was 30 when she killed her dad, making him somewhere around 60-70! Stress does make aging worse, and she was in a lot of stress, so she could be in her 30s too, making Molak even younger
It’d be interesting to see what her original lore was meant to be. I heard from a little bird that the hound master was originally meant to be a run-away slave catcher.
Oh I am aware, same as how I pronounced merchants as merkants, I am just lazy AF and I don't want to re-record my voice for ages since that is by far the most annoying part of making a video. If the misspronounciation is too severe, I do reset.
Could Haddie’s overlap diver outfit be from when she investigated the dragons tooth ? In the Description it says she found a shipwreck off shore. Could this ship be the nightsdream?
That’s what I thought, it’s like the twins, where the entity not only immaculate them but also made a clone of their loved ones made of auric cells then entered into the fog.
I believe they’re going to add Molak as another killer in the future. The Entity took both of them, and so I think they’re going to use him later to give us a more standard type of pirate killer later on. Perhaps with that ocean map they talked about wanting to do before.
My interpretation of the glowing eye is that she is literally in control of the dog, or transfers her soul/life into the dog This probably causes pain (probably in the eye) which is why she covers her eye
And if you’re trying to ask well, how did snug end up in the into the trials? Simple he didn’t actually disappear. He was sent to the trials. By the entint
Honestly i would be lame for it not to be snug and would irrevertably hurt the character not to have the actual dog there, so its easier to assume the entity took snug earlier and kept the doggo to lure portia in
I believe otherwise, it falls perfectly into her story or at least my interpretation of her story. Imo the entity has her completed fooled, she prob thinks all the survivors are molak and snug is prob an addition to that manipulation seeing as she clearly cares for snug it's an easy tool to use on her
Tbh it makes more sense for Snug to be gone - it makes her story more tragic and adds to the Shakespeare connections, her story is very close to Titus Andronicus in terms of serving Moluk his son’s head and the idea that she is still completely alone makes her story even more of a Shakespearean Tragedy, plus it links to what The Entity’s done to its killers before (giving Charlotte a twisted, violent, version of Victor)
@@crabbytylerI think she doesn’t see the survivors as Molak, she has unique voice lines for the original survivors like for an example Claudette: she makes fun of her bottany knowledge. And I think Snug is really the original Snug, the entity has a thing for animals, like Maurice. Snug isn’t altered by any means, just look at Victor, he literally has a plus eye(thats not mentioned in their lore) and dies in the trials and gets resurected multiple times, but Snug never dies. Plus Snug actually acts like a dog, while Victor acts really strange, even for a deformed baby

Honeslty, i really like the houndmaster and her lore, but am also kinda upset that we finally got a killer from a tropical/island setting, yet their power has nothing to do with the ocean... I do hope tho she gets skins related to that, even better if they could change snugs apperance... Imagining something like a shipwrecked skin, featuring snug as a shark
Can we all love that the dog is named Snug, as in Snuggles? And props to tha animators and illustrators who got the floppy but fearsome look of this breed so well!
Even though I don’t play DBD and don’t like the gameplay loop, their lore has been top tier. It’s almost uncanny how good an explanation they can give for a character popping into existence
i’m like 89% sure the orange eyes resemble the internal connection the two share (given to them by the entity) which is the reason why she is able to sic snug so easily, go through vaults. not to mention how the visuals like the path snug will take is orange. makes sense for twins too
Her backstory is pretty good. Also the use of the enemy music from Wind Waker when talking about the pirate attack was quite fitting considering the setting of that game.
I heard that theory around, and I think it's because of the "scent" thing, but I understood that as in Snug can track Molak! Besides, if the Snug in Dragon's Tooth was not real either, then it wouldn't make sense for him to be the dog
Getting to actually watch the power in game I feel confident to say she doesn’t seem obnoxious. You need to be careful where ur at thou but match like other killers you have to be aware. I’m excited to see her power in game my self. Lore wise I do appreciate that it’s not a jumbled mess, things do link together as to why she is the way she is. I’m sure we all thought it was gonna be a disaster or disappointment from the leaks.. but seeing this I’m actually hoping to see her get love. It’s definitely not traditional horror but realistically it does explain the horror of things that happened in that time like the condition that causes ppl on sea to hallucinate and the horrors of then. Maybe we can get a beach map to follower her soon as well
Like you said snug could be a entity creation or it could be the actual snug, and the hound master made a deal, with the entity to permanently bond with snug so that they never lose each other again
At first I started really liking this character due to her theme music. Then I was captured by her amazing voice acting. And **now** I'm absolutely in love with her lore, too. Gosh, Behavior really hit the jackpot for me with the Houndmaster (also not to mention that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PIRATES). At first the Unknown became my absolutely favorite character in Dead by Daylight, and now I feel Portia is becoming one, as well
She is quite literally wearing an 18th century English Naval Admirals coat. Just because you want a meme pirate doesnt mean thats what they actually looked like.

I think snug is real, and he was taken when portia couldn't find him on the island, but hes had his own journey in the realm, and his, and portias eyes glow because of their connection
I have a feeling that the dogs cosmetics are the different dogs and each skin is an alternative universe where another dog survived but snug died and so on
Massive fan of this killer, the lore is some of my favourite behaviour has ever come up with. Her mori is fantastic as well as the individual voice lines. 10/10!!! Plus the unique power, love love LOVE this chapter.
Listening to her voice lines in the trials, she actually sees the survivors as her own traitorous crew, as she uses the words 'mutiny' and 'mutinous'. Words used to describe when a ship's workers turn against their captain. (On second listen, I think I might actually be wrong. OOPS.)
It would be a far beyond theory but listen me, what if, snug is actually a form or part of entity and in trials the pain in the eye of houndmaster is actually a way of punishment.

I think Snug is a creation of the entity to lure Portia into the fog. Much like how the entity animated Victor's body to lure Charlotte into the fog as well. That said I hope we get to see a Snug skin somehow. Maybe in a ultra rare skin?
This might be observed, but when spirits trailer it was hinting that oni was a future killer, and this Mad Malok character in hound masters lore MIGHT be a futer killer, BHVR did it with did it with blight, they could do it with mad molak.
Potia has mori lines for the original survivors dwight, nea, claudette, meg, david and even nicolas cage so I don't think she sees Molak when she is killing them.

the hound also disappear and reappears in puffs of fog at times, if one notices. typically when the dog can't pathfind back to you.

I believe Fog Snug isn't real, and the Entity certainly tricked Portia into visualizing many Survivors as Molak or his crewmates. The Entity played the long game with this one and slowly drove her mad.
Snug has something wrong about him for sure!
Portia has tons of unique mori voice lines for specific survivors that imply she sees them as they actually are. AFAIK so far, she has special voice lines for the core four survivors, some of the original survivors that came after them, and even Nicolas Cage.

Making a fake version of something apart of the killer seems to have happened twice now first Victor and now Snug

Maybe the theme connection between Portia and Taurie are both lost family members at a young age, both grew up in with experience in Overlap or Bleed (From Taurie's lore).
Doomed Course Must be meaning of how both The Houndmaster and Taurie were doomed at the beginning of seeing their families died and grew up with the entity rated manipulating both of their minds at a young age.

Molak was dead before she get to him, she has clearly aged at least 20 years from when she first saw Molak
Age wise, I could see her being 40 years old while Molak was 30 when she killed her dad, making him somewhere around 60-70! Stress does make aging worse, and she was in a lot of stress, so she could be in her 30s too, making Molak even younger

Oh I am aware, same as how I pronounced merchants as merkants, I am just lazy AF and I don't want to re-record my voice for ages since that is by far the most annoying part of making a video. If the misspronounciation is too severe, I do reset.

That’s what I thought, it’s like the twins, where the entity not only immaculate them but also made a clone of their loved ones made of auric cells then entered into the fog.
I believe they’re going to add Molak as another killer in the future. The Entity took both of them, and so I think they’re going to use him later to give us a more standard type of pirate killer later on. Perhaps with that ocean map they talked about wanting to do before.

The seeing others as a particular target isn't new. Deathslinger sees everyone as the Warden or people who wronged him.
Spirit sees everyone as her father if I remember correctly.

My interpretation of the glowing eye is that she is literally in control of the dog, or transfers her soul/life into the dog
This probably causes pain (probably in the eye) which is why she covers her eye

Honestly i would be lame for it not to be snug and would irrevertably hurt the character not to have the actual dog there, so its easier to assume the entity took snug earlier and kept the doggo to lure portia in
I believe otherwise, it falls perfectly into her story or at least my interpretation of her story. Imo the entity has her completed fooled, she prob thinks all the survivors are molak and snug is prob an addition to that manipulation seeing as she clearly cares for snug it's an easy tool to use on her
Tbh it makes more sense for Snug to be gone - it makes her story more tragic and adds to the Shakespeare connections, her story is very close to Titus Andronicus in terms of serving Moluk his son’s head and the idea that she is still completely alone makes her story even more of a Shakespearean Tragedy, plus it links to what The Entity’s done to its killers before (giving Charlotte a twisted, violent, version of Victor)

And I think Snug is really the original Snug, the entity has a thing for animals, like Maurice. Snug isn’t altered by any means, just look at Victor, he literally has a plus eye(thats not mentioned in their lore) and dies in the trials and gets resurected multiple times, but Snug never dies. Plus Snug actually acts like a dog, while Victor acts really strange, even for a deformed baby

Honeslty, i really like the houndmaster and her lore, but am also kinda upset that we finally got a killer from a tropical/island setting, yet their power has nothing to do with the ocean...

Even though I don’t play DBD and don’t like the gameplay loop, their lore has been top tier. It’s almost uncanny how good an explanation they can give for a character popping into existence
i’m like 89% sure the orange eyes resemble the internal connection the two share (given to them by the entity) which is the reason why she is able to sic snug so easily, go through vaults. not to mention how the visuals like the path snug will take is orange. makes sense for twins too
Her backstory is pretty good. Also the use of the enemy music from Wind Waker when talking about the pirate attack was quite fitting considering the setting of that game.
I dunno if she exactly sees everyone as a part of Mulock's crew or as Mulock since she has voicelines for Moring specific survivors like Claudette.
Portia is absolutely a victim in this and honestly I feel horrible for her.

Getting to actually watch the power in game I feel confident to say she doesn’t seem obnoxious. You need to be careful where ur at thou but match like other killers you have to be aware. I’m excited to see her power in game my self. Lore wise I do appreciate that it’s not a jumbled mess, things do link together as to why she is the way she is. I’m sure we all thought it was gonna be a disaster or disappointment from the leaks.. but seeing this I’m actually hoping to see her get love. It’s definitely not traditional horror but realistically it does explain the horror of things that happened in that time like the condition that causes ppl on sea to hallucinate and the horrors of then. Maybe we can get a beach map to follower her soon as well
Like you said snug could be a entity creation or it could be the actual snug, and the hound master made a deal, with the entity to permanently bond with snug so that they never lose each other again

Since snug and hm both have glowing eyes I think the glowing eye is for when she redirects snug she physically possesses his body
At first I started really liking this character due to her theme music. Then I was captured by her amazing voice acting. And **now** I'm absolutely in love with her lore, too. Gosh, Behavior really hit the jackpot for me with the Houndmaster (also not to mention that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PIRATES).
At first the Unknown became my absolutely favorite character in Dead by Daylight, and now I feel Portia is becoming one, as well

Massive fan of this killer, the lore is some of my favourite behaviour has ever come up with. Her mori is fantastic as well as the individual voice lines. 10/10!!! Plus the unique power, love love LOVE this chapter.
Listening to her voice lines in the trials, she actually sees the survivors as her own traitorous crew, as she uses the words 'mutiny' and 'mutinous'. Words used to describe when a ship's workers turn against their captain. (On second listen, I think I might actually be wrong. OOPS.)

I think Snug is a creation of the entity to lure Portia into the fog. Much like how the entity animated Victor's body to lure Charlotte into the fog as well. That said I hope we get to see a Snug skin somehow. Maybe in a ultra rare skin?
