DISCLAIMER: The % I did regarding the locked content a new player will have is WRONG! I counted it as a PC player without the console characters, so the error margin is around 5% for the total!
I wanted to talk about a topic that, for some reason, almost nobody talks of in the community, and that's how TERRIBLE the new player experience is for Dead By Daylight. Back when the game was still fresh and the content was small, this was not a big deal. DbD was a scary experience, and not knowing anything is part of the charm. Nowadays, with the introduction of the aggresive SBMM, Dead By Daylight is far from a "casual" experience. With over 35 killer powers to learn, each with 20 addons to choose from, 255 perks that can alter the match, maps with RNG generation and veterans with thousands of hours of experience, Dead By Daylight is not beginner friendly.
The issue I find is that the game's core is becoming simplified in terms of mechanics, when the game itself is already easier than League, Valorant or any other true competitive game. What DbD needs is to become BEGINNER FRIENDLY, and it's ridicuouls how the Mobile version of Dead By Daylight is significantly more noob friendly than the pc and console version of the game. The tutorial is horrible and this video will prove it, the grind and perk unlock system is daunting and unrewarding for the vast majority of casuals, and the scam of secrets is an insult that only exists as a scapegoat for this game not to be accused of "pay 2 win" when it already has pay 2 win mechanics in the means of "Pay 2 Skip"
If you are a veteran, and you played with someone you wanted to introduce into the game, you probably noticed how many things you take for granted that are very confusing for new players. Like 99% the gates, where generators spawn, how items work, killer powers and counters....
I hope this video is useful to prove how bad the casual experience of DbD is if you don't play this game every week and are up to date with the reworks and changes killer powers have, like the future Twins update.

I introduced 3 people to dbd they said
    - gens are very boring
    - perks are confusing (they all equipped random crap)
    - the game itself gets boring fast
    - they complained about all the cool (licensed) characters they see ads for are all pay to play
    - they also didn’t understand non-licensed stuff behind paywalls when you have to buy the game

you should introduce them to identity V then. its basically the chinese version of dbd, free on mobile and pc, much less grinding and only the newest character is locked behind a paywall, and only for a week.
and unless you want to gacha for skins its completely f2p.
its also much faster paced, so gens only take half the time they take in dbd, making them less boring, and perks are locked to survivors, meaning they actually have uses besides simply being cosmetics.

Things I, a 2000 hour player, learned from this video:
-Xenomorph can detect you if you run while they are tunneling
-Xenomorph disables turrets near the tunnel it comes out of
-Trickster has a combo mechanic (???)
-Wesker has less cooldown the more survivors he infects
-Singularity has a longer overclock the more survivors are slipstreamed
I think that demonstrates just how bad the problem is LOL

If you can see the aura of the control station, that means xenomorph will be able to detect you upon emerging.

If you're being slaughtered very fast it's probably being unfamiliar with the map. Either spend a lot of time in custom games to learn them or invest in getting Kate for the windows of opportunity perk so you can see vaults and pallets. Also don't play as tall characters or bright characters if you want to not be spotted constantly. One of the biggest issues is how the game goes out of its way to avoid explaining the “killer in chase” icon with the wiggling tendrils on the character portraits. This is a VITAL indicator for survivors that no one seems to know about aside from those lucky enough to see the loading screen tip.
Soooooo many times I have seen the auras of survivors half way across the map hide in lockers the SECOND they hear a minimum terror radius even though I’ve clearly been in chase for a minute and a half

I bought most of the DLCs during the Christmas sale and spent slightly over 100€ total. That being said, I fully agree this game isn't beginner friendly for casual players. However, if you are willing to commit a lot of your free time to playing this game and spending a bit of money on it, then it's... Fine. You could probably unlock everything on everyone playing semi-casual/semi-hardcore in less than a year. I wish it weren't this inaccessible, but that's the unfortunate reality.

I think the whole horror game feel should be kept, but also a way to make it more fair to new players; Have a glossary be updated depending on perks you run into, or already have. This makes it so the first encounter with a Killer or perk, the Mystique of the Killer and perk can be kept, but also gives the survivor the information they need to get better and understand the game a lot more. I think the game should strive for both. Otherwise, the game is a sweatfest, and nothing more.

as an ex-veteran of the game (stopped playing around 2021), I learned more from this video than having played a few matches, as well as having re-done the tutorial.
whilst I have been able to quickly adapt to a lot of the changes due to my previous experience with the game, there are still things that are left un answered, that I would have to go out of my way in order to find out, when the game itself could easily and quickly explain it, such as how big the radius is for the whole anti-camping mechanic is.
    What should be done are these things;
-Make two types of tutorials, a beginner tutorial, and an advanced tutorial, with the advanced one showing more technical things like looping, the anti-camping mechanic in more detail, totems (although this should be in the beginner one), etc.
-Make a tutorial for every killer, showcasing each killers power from both the survivor and killer perspective within the same guide. This is a lofty task to get done for BHVR, but is incredibly important in teaching some of the fundementals of the game. Nurse has a completely different playstyle from say Onryo, and with the current system can easily get confusing. As someone who back in 2018 picked The Nurse without knowing I even had a power, that ended up being a very interesting match.
-Keep the game manual, but include short videos showcasing what's being talked about, and mention EVERYTHING. Every status effect, briefly explain what every killers power does, explain when the anti-kick feature kicks in (no pun intended), etc. This can get confusing, but this is a game manual, it should include everything.
-Possibly mention the community made content, encouraging people to go out and watch other people play the game. Doesn't have to mention anyone specifically, but could mention for instance the Fog Whisperer program and that they are "verified" content creators for the game, as in they are endorsed by the developers, and be like "hey, this is the fog whisperer icon, keep an eye out for it".
-Make a tutorial for the menus, showcasing how loadouts work, the rift, shop, etc. This can be figured out easily be the player themselves, but would be a short and simple tutorial to get anyone up to speed. Could also explain things like the currencies.

    • @JustRhysky

      that too, absolutely. ultimately, I think BHVR should either;
      A) make all non-licensed killers free for everyone
      or
      B) make the base game free for everyone
with option A being the superior option for us consumers. paying 20$ only to get about 30% of the characters in the game is just bad, and we are well past the age of both selling the game for a price and then spending upwards of 5+ times that amount just to get the characters, not to mention cosmetics.
I have a few friends who are thinking about getting into Dead By Daylight, but it's hard to recommend it to them when the 20$ buy-in price (a bit less on sales) is just a tiny amount compared to the in game purchases.
      there could be a third option, which would make all teachable perks available for everyone. this would include licensed perks too. how this would be implemented I'm not sure, and i know we have the shrine, but I have two ideas for this;
      either
      A) make a page with every teachable perk available for purchase, either with bloodpoints (like 300-500k per) or iridescent shards (1-2k per)
      or
      B) make the shrine of secrets a daily rotation and lower the price a bit
regardless, the current system we have is flawed for anyone getting into the game, both in terms of tutorials but also just letting people play the damn game. at least by being able to try a killer out before purchase, you don't have to invest like 7$ just to see if that killer is worth it for you personally. I'm sure there's a decently sized group of people who would love to play, random example, Twins, but who just don't know it yet because they don't want to spend the money just to find out.
(this ended up being way longer than I inteded it for, tl;dr make non-licensed characters free for everyone or at least make getting all teachable perks available for everyone at all times without needing to purchase the character first)

I started playing in January of this year, around the time the game was promoting Chucky and Alan Wake iirc, after some friends got me into it. Since I was lucky enough to get it when it was free on Epic, I decided to try it. I've been playing and enjoying it for several months, and I thought I knew a good amount about it, but after watching this video, I learned several mechanics that I had no clue about, such as how the resolve meter doesn't appear in endgame. One thing that's pretty lame is the perk system. I'm the type of person who likes to try out many different builds, however, since I detest spending money on games after purchase, the game quickly showed me that I have very little option in variety until I unlock more characters. I'm currently at 241 hours according to Epic, and so far I've unlocked Kate, Vittorio, Felix, Jeff, and Rebecca (thanks to the generosity of a friend) for the survivors and only Legion and Clown for killers. Several of these characters I only chose to use my shards on for their perks, and even after all this time I still feel like my builds have very little variation: Gen Rush or Chase Help for survivors, and pretty much just Information with Sloppy for killers. I definitely feel as though that either many of the bad starting perks should get a rework to make them more useful or varied, or that the perks shouldn't be tied to characters.

Trying to understand, perks, and killer abilities is absolutely mindnumbing for someone just getting in. And then when you inevitably look up perk lists on UA-cam/online for a good perk set, half if not all the perks you have to pay for. As a recent beginner, i totally agree that I couldn’t care less about what/who is good or op. I want to actually understand what I and other people are doing and can do. Often times I can’t completely understand the killers’ powers. Take Myers for example:
From my perspective he just looks at me for some time, which seems like a killer is just trying to be friendly and not attacking. Then he one-shots me. That is moderately easy to get behind.
But then another myers has a totally different build and his ability changes because of that and now I’m lost all over again. I don’t have myers, I can’t play him (unless I pay money). I can’t learn all of his perks and how they work. And that’s not even to mention that he can rock any other perks from any other killer I don’t have and I that will be even more confusing

A game like Deep Rock Galactic handles all of this so much better.
For anyone who doesn't know, Deep Rock Galactic or DRG is a 4 person co-op shooter where you play as these Dwarfs who work for a space mining company, where you travel to a planet to mine resources and shoot aliens.
In that game, there are many different things you can upgrade for your dwarfs, such as the primary weapons, secondary, throwables, utility tools etc. But the difference here is that all the upgrades can ONLY be unlocked via playing the game. There is no paying your way out of it. You spend a good amount of money buying the game and then the rest is up to you to unlock.
The only dlc there is is purely cosmetic, and it doesn't add anything else than you just looking cool. Plus there is also cosmetics you can earn via just playing the game.
If DBD made it so that it was free, or a lot of old content was free, then maybe the grind would be a little less punishing.

I'm a relatively newish player! I started playing DBD around November of 2023, almost December if I recall correctly. Fell in love with it and have been playing casually on/off since. I learned about the game from a friend who was actually a hardcore veteran, and wanted to get me into it.
For more context, I still have not paid a single cent towards DBD other than when I bought the base game. I am a shards-only player, and have always had a consistent 0 auric cells since I started. I also wanna note that I am a 50/50 player. I will often play solo Q survivor, or play as a random killer. (I don't have a particular killers I like more, I like trying different killing styles a lot). I don't pick one side since I like playing as both about evenly.
When I first started playing DBD, I was pretty terrified of everything. I went to the in-game tutorials and learned the basic goals of gameplay. And that was basically it. I actually had no idea what perks were for the longest time, or how to equip items. Those were things that took me days to learn from just the menu UI alone. It took me even longer to learn about kinks in killer powers or tactics to looping a killer which I'm still not very good at anyway.
I think what made me suck so much in the beginning was just how even in my first few matches as the noob dwight/meg, I was overwhelmed with everything. I didn't know what the UI of my teammates indicated, and I was going against advanced killers that brought hex perks. (It took me about a month or 2 to learn what hex totems were and how they work). For instance I still remember my first game against a Myers. When he reached tier 3, I thought the exposed icon meant I was having my location given to Michael at all times. And it wasn't too long after that I encountered my first Tombstone combo Myers. You should've seen my face when I thought the Myers was just being friendly, and then he started instant-mori'ing my unharmed teammates, and I immediately thought he was hacking lol. That's when I finally learned how significant addons can really be for killers. It's like a whole different game depending on the addons man. I wish I had learned more about those kind of things so I could not be sitting there feeding a Myers who I thought was just being friendly.
The tutorials really do need to get good and explain things better in terms of side effects or states. Things like deep wound, exposed, hindered, blindness, etc. All of that should be explained in better detail in the tutorials instead of just learning the mostly hard way by playing matches against sweat lords.
Another thing is just how gate-kept I feel from being a better player. Even after these 6 months since I started playing DBD, I still mostly only have the basic characters. I have only unlocked 2 additional shard-purchased killers, and a handful of survivors for their teachable perks. I love watching DBD content and I would love to try my hand at different (GOOD) perks like decisive strike/flash grenade as survivor, or killer perks like save the best for last and friends to the end. But those kind of things are not viable for me to get because I refuse to spend my real money for auric cells.
I feel like as of this post I have reached an intermediate understanding of DBD, but still don't know a lot about tactics used by killers/survivors, and I still don't fully understand every single killer's powers, even though I've played against all of them at least a few times. (Forget trying to learn the skull merchant's power since I only ever see them once every blue moon).
The game is very very grindy and I only have so much time in my busy adult life to spend grinding for better perks. It very much feels like I have to pay to win, which I simply refuse to do.

I remember having a fun time when I was playing killer but I ended up deleting the game and not playing until the attack on titan Collab/dredge midchapter. I remember my biggest struggle was the perks, items and add-ons. It all just sounded like complete gibberish about what they did, changed or affected. I ended up just using perks because I felt like I had to. I don't usually comment, but this is spot on. I downloaded the game literally 6 days ago and I can confirm that it is unbelievable confusing, I do enjoy the game because I really like the idea of it, but it really is not beginner friendly at all. Most of my games as a survivor go as follows: 1. Killers who are WAY above me and way too good for me to deal with, I get killed, spotted and destroyed easily, as I lack map awareness, no clue the perks, add ons or even the sacrificial thingy. 2. Afk killers who just do nothing, thus boring game. 3. Throwing killers, ones who just want to throw the game, again, no fun. I only have like 5 killers and honestly most of them are boring and repetitive, the good ones or interesting ones are behind a pay-wall. There is no communication in-game between the survivors, no voice or even text, simply 2 useless emotes, making coordinating actions way too difficult. Oh and my teammates either hide all game or wait for everyone to die to get the hatch lmao, I try to get gens, usually my average is 2 gens per game, but the killers are just too good and I lack knowledge to deal with them, I can't loop because I simply dk how to and even as a killer idk how to catch good loopers, the survivors I play against are usually, again, way too good for my level. It's just very frustrating, some killers will just camp the hook from a distance till you die, which is unbelievable frustrating, the whole unhooking meter thing is so useless and doesn't answer the issue with campers, likewise I find it very difficult to even escape, even if I get unhooked, escaping is just futile as I'll always be followed.

I started this game pretty much 1 year ago when Tools of Torment was released. I started it for 2 reasons:
    1. I am a big fan of good horror movies, so seeing Freddy, Myers, Bubba etc. in a game excited me
    2. My brother plays it regularly and asked me several times to give it a try, which I eventually did
I honestly think the beginning of DBD is the most fun as a survivor you'll have with this game. You honestly feel like in a horro movie. It's thrilling, it's amazing. I didn't care whether or not perk X or item Y where good. I only knew Feng Min is cute as hell and I liked her perks. I still think she is the best starter survivor and use 2 of her her perks in every match I play as a surv. It could not have bothered me less back then. I believe this thinking only starts when you truly understood the game, the killers and the perks to a basic degree. And then it is up for you to decide. DO you invest the time and money to get the juicy stuff or do you make due with what you have? Since this game helped me and my brother a lot in repairing our damaged relationship I gladly chose to spent time and money and still often have fun with him playing the game

Firstly shrine which is like you mintskull called scam of secrets, could be reworked for example:
A perk that you already own will not show in shrine, simple and effective change.
Second: The game itself, people play this game to win 99% of the time, so if you don't have map knowledge you will be killed all the time.
Third: The tutorial thing, ehhhhhh if there was a thing to talk about it in this tutorial you get to know 1% of the game basically.
The game will not tell you to repair a gen instead of unhooking the survivor immediately.
Also the hooking stages were not explained in the tutorial (the manual is just essay of text in my opinion, which is good don't get me wrong but i'm more of a eye learner i need to see it to learn it)
The killer powers, well yeah they're pretty bad explained as well, you need to go to the store page in order to see it when you don't have the killer unlocked which is crazy.
The grind, i think the meme "Help me" tell you exactly what it feels like, i give behaviour huge thumbs up for the mascarade event and now 2v8 which are good to just enjoy something new and refreshing for a change (like Mathew said earlier in the days XD)

I played a lot of dbd back in 2017 and recently got back into the game this year. However, I decided to just leave the game alone cause the game is like a chore to me. Playing survivor and killer doesn’t feel as fun as it did back then, cause there’s so much competition it ruins it for me. Especially since they introduce skill based matchmaking, with the new prestige system, there’s so much emphasis on grinding and competition. Maybe that’s just me, I figure a lot of people who play dbd nowadays likes the grind, and likes being challenged. But for a casual player like me, dead by daylight is completely out of my league now.

    I tried picking up the game a month ago, I quit 2 weeks afterwards;
    - 50% because every 3rd or 4th survivor game was a killer sitting in the middle of the map afk farming bloodpoints, the match where I brought in double pink addons for the fun of it and got another gen slowdown Doctor was the breaking point for my uninstall
    - 20% because the difficult part of the game (the looping) was actively detrimental to success to seek to practice and required several minutes to get into a chase just for me to make a mistake and get instantly downed most of the time, then have to wait 5-10 minutes to get into a new chase in a new game. I will say the times I didn't immediately screw everything up was really enjoyable, decently stretched out chases
    - 20% because it wasn't fun to play, I still remember the names of 2 knight players, the only knight players I've fought, who only played the game by downing one person and camping that slug for 4 minutes, on top of regular tunneling and the anti-camping unhook feature being next to worthless
    - 10% because I had to grind so much to get teachable perks for the build I wanted
Playing killer was really fun though, but then again, I never reached a point in which I was playing against survivors that my fps experienced aim on Huntress didn't carry me past

Good points! It's very hard to recommend DBD to new people, and it can be hard for even some casual players to keep up, when there are so many perks, killers, etc. to remember. And with the way tutorials and some explanations are, learning the game basically boils down to "fuck around and find out". Some people don't want to or have time to do that for hundreds of hours just to be decent at a game.
Speaking of tutorials and learning about how different killers work, one thing I dislike about the game is the fact that there's no way to try out killers you don't own without purchasing them first or playing in the PTB that's up for a limited time. Just reading or watching how a killer works is one thing and experiencing them another.
Besides updating the tutorial/manual to be more in depth with visual aids, I think it would be pretty cool to have a little trial game available for each killer where you get to try out killers and their powers, that'd be nice for both old and new players alike. They could have a "Try out!" button in the shop next to the characters or something. And if you could purchase perks separately, you wouldn't have to buy a killer you don't like or care about just to have their perks unlocked.

i remember the old tutorial having a good amoount of this missing info, telling the player about self healing, the basement, and chests. and for the killer tutorial you actually had to wait out the hook states (granted you didnt hook them all immediately) and the meg bot did kinda loop you to a degree. somehow like the old tutorial almost did better, or at least covered more topics. granted the game had a lot fewer mechanics at the time.

The game's ability to teach itself might have been sufficient when everyone was new, but now that 95% of the community is experienced, trying to figure stuff out in-game isn't fun. I wish I could: practice in maps against all the AI killers, practice against AI survivors that don't wall hack with perfect map knowledge, and just be able to walk around maps to learn them outside of matches.

I gave up on understanding some killer powers. The worst one is that I still don't get how to solve Pinhead's box when a chain hunt is after you. I read somewhere to dodge 3 chains and then you get a short time to solve it, that you need to let the chains hit you and break them all together, that you need to do it behind cover, that someone has to assist by blocking the chains from hitting you, etc. I gave up on figuring it out and just hope for the best on the off chance that he shows up in a match🤞

Also, a lot if the bloat and confusion you’re talking about is only gonna get worse as Behaviour continues to pump new content into this nearly 10 year old game, I haven’t played in like a year and there’s already a mountain of new perks and killers I’ve never interacted with before and the only way you can catch up to speed on a lot of this stuff is by studying the wiki like you have a fucking test in two days, it’s kinda absurd

"what's that??", "I'm doing everything you did why am I dead already?", etc, etc.. I instantly noticed how overwhelmed new players must be, even if you buy all dlcs, watch hundreds of videos, use the strongest perks you can easily loose matches bc you still lack actual experience in the game, on average now it has to take at least 50-100 hours to understand a small portion of the game, another few hundred of hours to know how to loop killers and understand more perks and even more hours to continue learning more about the survivors and killers..hell even now I learned something new from these killers, it's just wayy to much for new players now :/

  • @LynxRecruit
    @LynxRecruit 9 місяців тому +4

One thing that DBD should really do as well is make tutorials to introduce players to perk archetypes.
Like Boons, Hex's, Teamwork, Scourge Hooks etc etc, cause giving barebones examples of games can do very little to inform a player of what their perk actually does, cause nine times out of then some players both survivor and killer will slap on a perk just because its new rather than read what it actually does.
So Survivors would get a tutorial on how boons work and how its essential to get rid of hex's, obviously making it clear some hex's CAN be a trap cause of haunted grounds being a thing as well as informing them that some boons starting off aren't something to be concerned about, but at some point you need to find them. IE: Devour Hope.
This type of stuff will give players a rough idea of what every type of perk can do or is capable off as well as gives them the opportunity to use them in a test scenario, which can usually 'if it was done right' lead to a purchase of a DLC because a player may like a specific perk archetype.

This was a great video. I’m at 2.5k hours and there were still a few things I didn’t know within. I can’t imagine just how daunting it must be for newcomers. I hope new buyers know, it’s a commitment!

as a person who is a beginner (started mid feb this year) it was definitely scary to understand at first. fortunately, i had friends who played the game around 2019 so they helped me a lot but a lot of people dont realise how overwhelming the game is at first (i fully just straight up did not notice perks until a week in)

damn, i remembered how i used to think thats exhaustion cause hindrence. It was times, when crouching would speed up exhaustion recovery. I hopped on the game and didnt understand anything and just died a lot of times, then played killer, got all my hooks broken (or somebody from surviviour side had perk to disable auras of them, it was long ago, io dont remember) and quitted for about 4-6 years. Remembered about the game recently, gor decent, and now play very rarely due to it being boring af. This game is something else, i cant even explain it...

@@MintSkull the funniest thing that is, I thought game more balanced than it was. I thought perks gives something in exchange to something, not a straight buffs. I know, the problem is me and, partially, poor translation to my language of the game (and it's still bad tho), but perks description was not very clear to me back then, and this whole thing (walking slower after burst of speed) looked pretty logical to me, ngl.

even if you watch otzdarva seminars to learn about the game, it is impossible to know for sure if you're knowledgeable about a killer since they have constant updates that nerf, buff and rework killers. So the only way to keep up is to stay in the conversation forever

DBD would benefit greatly from a guidebook that gives video footage for every mechanic in the game. And going through it should give you Bloodpoints to encourage players to not ignore it.
EDIT: Ah, you basically recommend that around at 29:00

Absolutely. I am thinking of doing something like this to help the community, or even the devs!

Something I learned in this video as someone who got into the game around a year and a half ago and has played for probably around 500 hours since then.
I had no idea that grades didn't factor into your MMR at all. And most people I talk to tall about them as ranks and not as badges. Like, it doesn't say that anywhere.

When i filled the sastifation survey for dbd in the last page in the bottom that said any thing you would like want in dbd i said "i would like you increase the iri shard gain on level to 500 at any level" to make the grind faster and to unlock stuff faster

The thing they should definitely tell you in the tutorial is how to nod. Some console players still don't know how😂

I’ve been thinking about getting DbD for a while now and a lot of stuff you talked about I didn’t know. I kept asking “What is that?! What would that do?” So your rant is very fair. Before I didn’t even know what a killer instinct was even though I have watched a good chunk of dbd videos. I wish they made the tutorials better.

(Anecdote from veteran player starting over)
I switched from Switch to PC, and it was incredibly eye-opening.
In my old account I had every perk and character unlocked, so I always wondered if the monetization and grind was that bad. And experimenting it first-hand; It is.
The only saving grace making me not wanna quit the game is that I have previous knowledge of the game from experimenting. So I just grab my survivor and killer mains, make a semi-decent build with both, and play a pretty bare-bones game.
Still fun, but nothing like the crazy meme builds and fun variety I had in my old account. Which is really sad because this game is a ton of fun, but that true fun it's buried so deep beneath the surface, it's unlikely a new player will ever reach it.

I think most of the details in this video are 100% correct but the biggest issue is a word that is used over and over in this video and in the community at large - "COMPETITIVE"
This one single word and mindset is the biggest issue in the community and the main cause for 90% of the toxicity in the community.
I started playing DBD back when we had the old rank system - before SBMM and back then the "competitive" games were around rank 5 and above which is where all the skill matches were and the tech's etc which was fine because in the far lower ranks you had players who were learning and so it balanced out a lot.
Back then i was playing David - a character i still main today and i was using no-mither and resilience as it allowed me to do gens fast and killers would sometimes slug and so i could easily get myself back up if i couldnt avoid the killer most of the match.
This brings me to my point - since SBMM the main focus by content creators and a lot of the community has moved to this main push for competitive and so killers are told to tunnel and 3 gen because it helped get wins - survivors are told to use the "meta" because its the best way to win - its just non stop "best way to win" and that removed ALL the fun that used to happen in this game at lower ranks.
This is my personal opinion as to why most people quit the game early on - yes the grind is long but so is WoW and other games that people also sink thousands of hours into - the grind isnt bad when the game is FUN and DBD is no longer fun but a sweat shop. Until the community stop being so focused on competitive or until a competitive mode is added as a seperate thing DBD will continue to be the most miserable and unfun game.
I am lucky that i have a SWF that i play with and we spend most of our matches messing around and doing memes because we dont need to do anything, ive already 100% completed all achievements and tombs so until something new comes i dont have to care and even when a new DLC or tomb comes i can easily smash through it in a week or so after doing my full time job without having to try or play "competitive"
I get some people want that which is why i think it should have its own dedicated mode like most other games do but until that happens new players will get bullied out of the game because like big long term games - Eve Online as an example - it does take time to tearn and be good at for some and they will be treated poorly (especially in solo queue) if they are doing well enough when matched with competitive players
Ive seen the way players talk to each other in the end game chat and its terrible, as a killer ive had to give encouragement to new players after the match because the rest of their team have just been so toxic to them for being new - its this elitist view by a lot of the community that causes this.
