Potatoes are better for Wolfgang, and more hunger for other characters, they are in season all except summer, and if they begin to spoil, you can make spiraled tubers
I did some research. One of the best ways to grow crops which will imo become the meta is this: 1x Onion, 1x Garlic, 2x Potato (double all for full tile of crops) Normally you are making Potatoes to feed the baby Wolfgangs, but for restoring sanity you get Potato/Garlic combo which makes the Creamy Potato Purée. and the Garlic/Onion are the 2 crops which have longest lifespan (15 days), put them in ice box and it's 30 days, put them in salt box and it's 60 days. This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much, it is going to put my friend and mine's Wormwood/Warly game off the chats. I did wonder if it would be possible to just repeat the patterns, flipping them back and forth with each new one, to make a "mega farm", or if that would just be impractical. Phenomenal guide though!
Earlier I used to farm dragon fruit all year long but now it has a specific season, and in summer I generally spend my time in cave to be safe so it's now hard to farm dragon fruit 😑, nice guide as always 😊
You are still able to grow Dragon Fruit outside of their preffered seasons, but it will take a little longer and you'll get 4 stress points as a result. If you make sure the stress doesn't to over 11 points, and you'll get the crop + a seed back.
I saw in the forum, jazzy says if I put 6 dragon fruit in a plot then I need 12 manure , but In earlier plots I can easily harvest 6 times before putting manure, so do these new farms takes more manure than earlier ?
@@SovonSingha No, jazzy was mistaken. Dragonfruit always took four manure each, so 6 dragonfruit would be 24. 6 potatos would be 12, sure.. Even in the beta it was this way
I do have some knowledge I wish to contribute. The soil can hold 12.5 arrows worth of whatever nutrient. So you can grow 6 carrots or 3 onions worth in a single tile, if fully fertilized before planting. This is not very good, But if you do something like 4 dragonfruit 4 garlic, 1 onion. then 4 dragonfruit 1 garlic 4 onion. then 1 dragonfruit 4 garlic 4 onions. You can rotate through these specific crops. I base it on a 12 point system, dragonfruit is each worth 4 points, so that is 16 manure consumed. 4 garlic, another 16 compost consumed. This is more than 12, so both would need to be fertilized if it was not for the fact that they each provide for one another. Dropping it down to 8 points worth, while producing 16 growth formula nutrient. Which is bad, because the soil will be so concentrated that nutrients get lost. By planting a single onion, you drop that 16 points down to 12. then you also drop the 8 compost and 8 manure being consumed to 6 each, as the onions produce 2 of each. 6, is half of 12. So the soil will only be half depleted. So by growing dragonfruit, half the soil is depleted. Growing it a second time? entirely depleted- but on the third and final cycle where you grow just one dragonfruit with 4 garlic and 4 onions, the soil will be fully replenished in that one nutrient. By doing this you can grow giant crops of three different crops in a single tile space. And 8/9 of them will be giant. Now, if you do this in a 4x4 crop feild. where the center tile has 4 of the same crop together for the family bonus, each on a different tile and you build the rest around it. making sure to have a toltal of 16, four on each tile of the remaining two.. ALL will be giant. Allowing for a lot more variety in your crops.
Another example of this is, 4 dragonfruit 5 tomato. 4 dragonfruit 5 tomato, 1 dragonfruit 8 tomato. 4 dragonfruit is 16 manure consumed, 5 tomato produces 10 manure, dropped to 6. half the soils max cap, grow this twice, soil is entirely consumed of manure. Growing 8 tomato and 1 dragonfruit, 8 tomato is 16, too high, grow one dragonfruit to drop it to 12, which is again the soil capacity. Or, 5 dragonfruit 4 tomato, 5 dragonfruit is 20, minus 8 points produced by the tomatos. that is 12, the soil is entirely consumed. 8 tomato 1 dragonfruit to replenish. I think 4 dragonfruit 5 tomatos, times two, then the recovery cycle (8 tomato 1 dragonfruit just to fix the soil) is better than 5 dragonfruit 4 tomatos, then recovery cycle alternating. But thats the thing with my system, invent what works for you! create your own combos!
Absolute best part of the video is that ending where all crops pop up in a few seconds. Satisfying AF. Good guide, and interesting combos... Did you do it by hand or used some algorithm?
I wrote a program that just brute forced the combinations for me. Others are able to do it by hand, but it becomes too much for me with all the seasons and whatnot, so I just made the program do the work for me. The output is located in the google docs in the description/pinned comment, which I shared a few days into the beta.
Instead of looking up combos, you can just use combinations of crops that you discover yourself. All you need is for them to consume different fertilisers and be good in the same season.
Thanks for visualising that useful Google Docs I've been referring to all this time :P Especially I'll refer to the 4 and 5 cop combos a lot since I often have a hard time with remembering any of them. BTW you're missing the "Dragon Fruit + Durian/Garlic + Onion/Pomegranate" Spring 3 crop combo in the video, no wonder spring section felt unnaturally short. That's a personal favorite of mine for having the fruit trio together Dragonfruits, Pomegranates and Durians.
This was actually a pretty decent update really helps warly and wormwood since they've been bullied into f tier so far 😄 Almost like a character refresh for them i was very wrong about this update
No problem! Unfortunately, I don't have the time (or the will) anymore to work on the document. If I ever do get the time and I remember, I'll try to though.
Honestly, probably the set up most people will want is simply the Potato and Tomato, both on their own are very good crops to just eat, both giving 20 Health cooked. Then the Toma Root can make the Vegetable Stinger that gives 33 Sanity.
The guides i saw when update came out didnt cover everything so i got to experience it on my own and honestly it was a little frustrating at first since i didn't expect much complexity but as i got into it it was very satasfing to learn but you cover everything fully and i still enjoy it very nice and merry Christmas 🎄
This is if you want giant crops. If you just want to farm normally, plant your seeds in the correct season, talk to them once (like wearing a One Man Band), and that's it. Jazzy has a good video on keeping the farming simple.
Amazing guide as always! I've tested out all of these using to console to practice memorizing the tilting layout; I’ve got most of them but the very last one, the “Five Crop Combos 1:1:1:1:1 Ratio”; I just can not seem to be able to squeeze every tilt in as shown in the video here, I have tried using the video link provided and got it working, kinda, I managed to squeeze them all in except that instead of just the tomatoes not growing giant, all corner crops were not, such as two watermelons and two corn stalks on each side. Have I done something wrong? Or is it just my bad placement?
Sounds like it's working. The crops in the corners of five crop 1:1:1:1:1 ratios won't be giant but will still provide all the nutrients it needs, as stated in the section showcasing an the seed example of 1:1:1:1:1 ratio.
Anyone having issues where the combinations are no longer producing giant crops? I've been watering and tending the whole time and a handful of the combinations aren't working anymore.
How did u make the 1:1:1:1:1 ratio farm, without mods, or with mods, I tried a lot of times trying to do with snapping tiler or geometric, and I can't do
I have a question, if we don’t use the exact formation for one plot, ex: the automatic 2 crop combo of tomato and eggplant, why does the plant say it’s missing food, why does it have to be that exact formation, I tried to change the place of the tomatoes to the eggplant and the when accessing the eggplants happiness, it says ‘NEEDS FOOD’,and the accessing the tomatoes happiness it says it’s “HAPPY”, anyone know why those formations work and if we switch em it doesn’t, btw When I switched formations I didn’t expand the seeds to another plot, all in the same plot
Whatever crops that prefer the seasons of Spring and Summer just won't be giant then, but you'll still be able to get a crop and a seed or two back if you do all the other things.
In the top left and bottom right corner, you make 1 till in the corner. In the top right and bottom left corner, you make 3 tills in an L kind of shape. Then from the top right to the bottom left corner, you make two tills to make it look like a diagonal. My friend rob shows here how he does it modless, but I use geometric placement to make these tills. ua-cam.com/video/pSHkg9u_ETk/v-deo.html
@@LakhnishMonster thank you so much, i use geometric placement too but I couldn't figure out where to till without screwing up the patterns in the nearby plots as well
11:17 how do you make this setup? i have been trying to till in this way but cant, it maybe because i have geometric placement mod on but i cant figure it out
Follow this guide here but adjust it slightly so that it matches the video: ua-cam.com/video/pSHkg9u_ETk/v-deo.html The geo mod doesn't let you till certain corners for some reason, but if you hold down Control, the mod gets disabled and you can till said corners.
You can use what you listed. The slash is just substitutes between 2 crops. Ex. Carrot/pumpkin means you can use either one alongside the rest of the combo.
So I got a little confused how you did some of these considering the overcrowding rule. I don't understand how they're so packed together to share the nutrients, but not counting overcrowded?
Overcrowding occurs when there is 11 or more crops in a tile. I avoid the overcrowding stress by keeping it at 10 crops max a tile. To do 10 crops in a tile, you can follow this guide here: ua-cam.com/video/pSHkg9u_ETk/v-deo.html
@@LakhnishMonster but in some of these it looks like theres like at least 12 a tile? Is it because they're sitting at edges of a tile or are they just far enough not to be within 1 tile?
I can’t figure out how to lay out and till the 2:2:1 ratio setup. It’s only 2 plots, right? 2 plots seemed too little space and 3 seemed too much. I want to use one of the food combos but I don’t know how to lay it out :( can you help at all?
Hey, there's something I don't quite get in the examples. I'm using "auto tilling"/"geometric placement" mods which put 9 evenly spaced digs per turf. But your examples all seem to have 2x4 digs per turf, on 2 turfs, using the sides of each of the 2 turfs to create the combination. Is this necessary? Can I not use your combinations if I'm using those mods?
You need 4 of the same crops next to each other and you at best can only have 9-10 crops a tile, at least before the crops suffer an overcrowding stressor. If you are using a combo that requires 3 or more different crops, you needs more space. For example, for 3 crop combo of Garlic + Pepper + Onion, if I want all of them to be giant, that requires 12 crops total (4 of each crop so they are considered a family so they can be giant). But you can't have 12 crops in a single tile and be giant, so you're going to need at least two tiles. I used geometric placement when planting the crops for this video, so you can use mods no issue.
@@LakhnishMonster So if, say, I have one turf with an even 3x3 grid of vegetables, then for those 12-crop total combos it would work just as well to put another 1x3 line in a 2nd turf next to them? I don't need to do the specific, tight placement you did with 2 crops lines in the center of 2 turfs? (Which to me seems to say you're doing 4x4 grids rather than 3x3 per turf) I'm just worried that my mods are spacing them too far apart.
@@ividyon "So if, say, I have one turf with an even 3x3 grid of vegetables, then for those 12-crop total combos it would work just as well to put another 1x3 line in a 2nd turf next to them?" Yes, that will work. It should work with the auto-tilling mod too iirc.
Dude like i need durian because i play as wurt and wurt likes durian and if i cant give wurt durian she will be sad and i am going to be sad too so like exist a 1:1 for durian and other crop to make my life easier or a 1:2 or 2:1 idk how this work i just need durian ,_,
ok why arent potatoes yearly there one of the most durable plants in the world surviving the harshest conditions they can survive in africa in LIC countrys
So with zero fertilizer setup you don't need to fertilize with anything ? I tried 1:1:1 garlic pepper onion setup, but I added compost, and it didn't work. Can that be the reason, or there might have been some other factor ?
Klei wanted an effort = reward system for farming. You can just plant a seed in season and tend to it once; you'll get a crop + a seed back without issue.
Just what I wanted in dont starve. Fuck the old mechanic that was simple and easy to understand, this new "stand next to the crops and micromanage them for days" system is way better! Putting a seed in the ground and leaving to do something else was BORING. I want to have to click on my plant between every single growth stage! This is the best update ever!

@@LakhnishMonster thank you so much, i use geometric placement too but I couldn't figure out where to till without screwing up the patterns in the nearby plots as well
When doing a 3 crop combo can you place two of those combos in a 2x2 area or will it mess with eachother?
I have a giant crop and I donte what do with it what do with it?
You can hammer it and then eat it.
11:17 how do you make this setup? i have been trying to till in this way but cant, it maybe because i have geometric placement mod on but i cant figure it out
Follow this guide here but adjust it slightly so that it matches the video: ua-cam.com/video/pSHkg9u_ETk/v-deo.html
The geo mod doesn't let you till certain corners for some reason, but if you hold down Control, the mod gets disabled and you can till said corners.
Min 9:25, spring four crop combo question:
Could I use Corn/Dragon Fruit/Onion combo? Or onion only goes with Asparagus as the first crop?
You can use what you listed. The slash is just substitutes between 2 crops. Ex. Carrot/pumpkin means you can use either one alongside the rest of the combo.
@@LakhnishMonster niceeeee, thank you so much!
Everything is fun and games until the giant crops exist
Isso foi lindo
@@courierz9451 It's cause they are sitting at the edge while still being in the same tile. The guide I linked will demonstrate that as well.
@@LakhnishMonster oh! Thanks a lot! Very helpful vid and speedy response!
I can’t figure out how to lay out and till the 2:2:1 ratio setup. It’s only 2 plots, right? 2 plots seemed too little space and 3 seemed too much. I want to use one of the food combos but I don’t know how to lay it out :( can you help at all?
Try following this video; on how to do 10 mounds in a tile: ua-cam.com/video/pSHkg9u_ETk/v-deo.html
@@LakhnishMonster also I’m using geometric placement mod. Could this be why I can’t fit all of the crops in the area?
@@gregorypalma914 Ah, then yeah. You can set geo up so that holding Control enables the mod instead of it always being active.
cant you place more than 4?
Place more than 4 of what?
@@LakhnishMonster like more than 4 in a family to make giant crops, or does it have to be stricly 4?
@@anthonylopez6149 you can have more than 4, is just that 4 it's the minimum for giant crops
Okay pro tip if I'm going to watch a video I don't want to read all the info that can be read on forum.
Pretty much all videos have information that can be read on forum
(Which to me seems to say you're doing 4x4 grids rather than 3x3 per turf)
I'm just worried that my mods are spacing them too far apart.
@@ividyon "So if, say, I have one turf with an even 3x3 grid of vegetables, then for those 12-crop total combos it would work just as well to put another 1x3 line in a 2nd turf next to them?"
Yes, that will work. It should work with the auto-tilling mod too iirc.
@@LakhnishMonster Thank you so very much!
You need to talk to it and water it at every stage of growth.
Why is it so complicated :O
Klei wanted an effort = reward system for farming.
You can just plant a seed in season and tend to it once; you'll get a crop + a seed back without issue.
Just what I wanted in dont starve. Fuck the old mechanic that was simple and easy to understand, this new "stand next to the crops and micromanage them for days" system is way better! Putting a seed in the ground and leaving to do something else was BORING. I want to have to click on my plant between every single growth stage! This is the best update ever!
I just added a mod to let me use the old system, I don't want to bother with this messy stuff

this is a event or permanent gameplay ? I quit the game like 6 months and a lot of things happens ^^
This is permanent gameplay. They revamped farming in DST and called it the Reap What You Sow update.
