Glock 48 Comparison & Review 🎈

  • John carries the WAR POET pistol for his EDC, however on office days where he wants to maximize comfort a little more, a smaller gun can be a nice change. Historically, this smaller gun has been a Glock 43 or a Sig 365. Both of these are good options, however the ability to add a red dot sight to the thin Glock 48 has given John recent pause. There's also the story of how John got this particular G48 from a student of his who did NOT want to part with it. Check out the video.

      I concur. Better to have more than less. People who say you only need 6 rounds are usually revolver fanatics. Not realists. And though I've never been in a gunfight (hope I never do) and never having been a military or LEO...common sense tells me in a real situations chances are we WILL MISS the target with a few shots. We might trip over something on the ground. Stumble. Etc. More importantly...we don't know exactly how many bad guys there are and where they are. jSo more is always better (I'm assuming)...
      Carrying. All for it. But for me only on certain days (e.g. going to/from the range--chance of some thug waiting for unsuspecting people leaving the range to follow them home and get their guns). What I have a problem with are the gun nerds who carry guns as a fashion statement. :) Not so much a problem exactly but...does get to me just a little...all those John Wick wannabees. Guys that were never military or LEO's. If you have a good reason to carry (e.g. active plain clothes detective, secret service, FBI...etc.) sure..of course.
      I don't like thinking ai NEED to carry every day every time I leave the house. I don't live like that. If that day should come then it's time to move.

      Additional party favors is why I went 365XL 12+1 and a factory 15 round spare on my other hip in case of a malf or more folks want to join the party. Oh and I topped it with their 6 MOA red dot cause my eyes are better than they were, but still not great. Smaller than a G48 at about the same weight with more ammo and I can get my little finger on the bottom of the grip.

      @@AGC828 Having been LE, I'd say the majority of people I've come into contact with, carry a firearm for their personal defense. I'm sure there are people that like to open carry to look "cool."
      I'd just like to say that your list of reasons are pretty narrow for someone to carry a firearm. I no longer work in that field but still carry every day, and encourage others to do the same. You don't have to be police or military to care about personal protection.
      Also, your comment about not feeling like you "NEED to carry" every day. I think it is a bit optimistic/naive to think that if "that day comes" you'll be alive to have the opportunity to move somewhere you feel safer. If you're trained and competent enough to carry a firearm, carry it. You might only get one chance to not carry it.

      My dad was a LEO in the 70's before he met my mom, he left that industry after a few years but was able to retain his duty revolver. When him and my mom got married she told him to get rid of the revolver because she didn't want any guns in the household while they were raising children so needless to say I was never exposed to firearms until adulthood. I initially bought a Glock 23 Gen4 out of necessity, that's what started my journey into guns. Just use common sense when you are around them, know the 4 rules and learn as much as possible about safety and how to be effective.

    Aspiring to be the Gray Man, I don't usually post comments online but here goes; I'm a WPS noob but I'm hooked and I absolutely love what you guys are doing. The info you're passing and the levity you pass it with are beyond entertaining. It took me three or fours videos to determine with some degree of confidence that John was prior military. Being a vet myself, I noticed that the way in which he speaks and carries himself are very similar to the folks I'm familiar with and used to being around. Not sure which video it was but he finally dropped a clue that attested to his service(Thank you, John for serving my country.) I still don't know which branch or what his MOS was but, if I had to guess, I'd say that, judging by his demeanor, the way he speaks and carries himself and his overall knowledge of and proficiency with various handguns, he was most likely a spec ops dude, perhaps even a SEAL. Regardless, bud, you're my kind of dude.

I absolutely love it. It's my go to EDC CCW pistola, and has been flawless in reliability/function. I also like that I can carry it in my favorite holster, a Tulster IWB complete with a Streamlight TLR-6 weapon light. All this in one very thin, light, "compact" package, but without sacrificing any round count from the standard G19 and still Glocktastic. Couldn't be happier with this gun and the mags.

    • @actionjaxxson1749
      @actionjaxxson1749 4 роки тому

      @NinjaRider777R "43 versus 48, I'll still take the 43, it's thinner and smaller, and if I need more than 9+1 I've got bigger problems than concealability."
      The 48 is actually thinner (i.e. smaller) but the 43 has a shorter grip & slide/barrel (i.e. smaller), so define which smaller you're talking about. Standard mag in the 43 is 6+1, not 9+1, and the standard mag in the 48 is 10+1, so I don't know what you mean by the if you need more than 9+1 comment? Plus, if you say that, then why are you knocking it for not taking the 33 round mag?
      "Anybody can get 15 to 20 rounds out of the G48 with massively extended mags. The G19 can do that without needing extended mags"
      The SA15 magazine gives you 15+1 and is the exact same size and flush fitting as the standard 10+1 glock factory mag, nothing sticking out. The extender gets you an extra 5 rounds but will make it longer. But since you don't need more than 9+1 that isn't a problem, stick with the factory 10+1 mag and you've got 1 to spare, or stick with the SA15 and have 6 to spare. Please let me know where to find the 20 round mag that is still flush fit for a 19 though, I want to buy one.

    • @actionjaxxson1749
      @actionjaxxson1749 4 роки тому

      @NinjaRider777R per www.usglock.com the slide width is the exact same on both guns at .87in but the overall width is 1.06in for the 43 compared to 1.10in for the 43x so i was wrong about the width, but so were you. The difference is .04in though so that is basically the same. Every other measurement is exactly the same between the two guns, except the overall length is .25in longer and the height is .75in taller with the 43x like i previously mentioned. The takeaway though is that it fits your hand way better than the 43 by giving you a full grip with different ergonomics (without the need for a bumper plate), and you get 10+1 compared to 6+1. I don't see how that is gimmicky? Yes, it doesn't take normal glock mags, but it's a subcompact.... when would you ever want to carry that with a 33round extended mag for that gun? Or even a 17 round mag? Never, except to the range or plinking, that's not what the gun is made for, it's for concealed carry.
      If you put the baseplate/grip and get 3 extra rounds on the 43, it's 9+1 vs 10+1 for a gun that is basically the exact same size. For me the 43x just fits the hand SOOOO much better, but at that point it's just user preference, to each their own, they are equally matched & equally priced, that's not gimmicky, it's fair market. But when you throw in the SA15 mags, then this becomes a game changer. With the EXACT same flush fit mag, you get a 15+1 capability. No gimmicky extended mag sticking out 6 inches from the gun. At that point it is way outclassing the 43. Yes, it's a proprietary magazine, but who cares? These guns are made to conceal carry on a daily basis for normal citizens, or as backup's for law enforcement. All you need is 1, and maybe at the most 2, magazines at any given time for this gun to be useful. If you are buying the gun for plinking, then there are better options.

I normally carry the G43 because it's small and easy to conceal, but I've grown to really enjoy carrying the G48. I live in the Communist State of NY, where King Andrew's minions have banned "High Capacity", (meaning STANDARD capacity), magazines. When I was working, we carried either a G17, or a G19 for plain clothes, giving me either 17 or 15 rounds respectively. But as a retiree, I can only buy 10 rounders, which makes the bulk of the 17 & 19 unnecessary, and warranted. The G48 is basically a single stack G19, that holds 10 rounds. This makes it PERFECT for carry in NY, or any of the other Politburo States.........

Like you said, the handle length on the 48/43 made it hard to not just go for the 19 sized guns. It pushed me that way. However, it does seem like the 43x’s shorter muzzle could make a worthy comfort difference for a shorter person. Also, as skinny as I am, any width shaving on the gear would be welcomed.

      @@WarriorPoetSociety If this is something to carry when the threat level is much lower and you want something smaller and more comfortable to carry, then why on earth would you want to go with the 48 over the 43x? Exactly the same, just shorter barrel/slide assembly. I mean i could see the 48 that is tricked out like that to replace the normal carry gun maybe, but it sounds like that is not the case and this is when you want something small? And if so, why put an optic like that on?

    • @joebabcock3464
      @joebabcock3464 4 роки тому +1

      Action Jaxxson see that was sort of my take on this. It seemed like this video was meant to compare the 48 with the sub compact options but my mind couldn’t help but make the inherit comparison to the war poet since they are in the same class. As far as the optic I feel like if you can fit a red dot, you should fit a red dot. It’s a game changer in my (limited) experience.

    haha, I have been daily driving the sig 365 for almost as long as it has been out and I remember when your first video on it came out I was a little bummed that you were so hard on it due to the grip angle. I understand because it annoyed me a little but I just loved it so much and it was so comfortable (especially since I work in an office and wear suits all day) that I kept on going with it. I am happy that you warmed up to it some and I think I might try out that 48 setup now

    In Texas, we don't have to worry about printing. I cut down a Sig P320 compact grip frame to subcompact length, then put my subcompact slide on it. 3.6 inch barrel, 15 rounds.
