I heard a lot of info about filters having a very low shelf life when opened and taken out of their packaging. I want my mask to be ready, not "ready but then tou fumble around with a sealed filter stored somewere else". Is there any option to have both a long shelf life and high-readyness?
I thought about putting the filter in the mask and then sealing them up on a mylar bag, with and oxygen absorber pack inside (just like with long term dry food storage).
As you have way more experience and knoledge, does my idea make sense?

I will give a few options.
      1. We carry our mask at work with the filters in, we train and breath thru those filters, they are exposed to elements on a daily basis, we replace them after 2 or 3 years and they still havent gone bad, different company but i would think these would be the same or close to.
      2. These come with a sealed intake and outake. And most are gonna have a 5 year min shelf life. I think the mylar idea is a step beyond. I think youd be taking as much time to unpack a mylar bag as you would be popping the 2 seals and screwing the filter on. If air cant get in because the seals it would keep the original warranty imo.

The filter element does expire but it doesn't "degrade" like food. But being exposed to air allows normal particulates to begin collecting in the filter as air naturally flows through. As he said, for security, military, etc we have it open, attached and ready 24/7 but someone gives us filters every couple of years. If you're keeping it on hand just in case (bug out, natural disaster, etc) then it would only take a few seconds for you to open the package and twist the filter in place. But if you really want it ready at a moments notice (house fire) you can go ahead and attach the filter and just put it in a bag or put some tape over the filter. Use something bright colored so you don't forget and something that will come off easy like painters tape.

Ive got some half face respirators but can’t seem to find decent full seal goggles that will work over glasses.
I’m close enough to the port, trains, AFB and weapons depot that it definitely crosses my mind. Chemical spill= no bueno

Being a right sided shooter the filter does get in the way but ive learned a lot time ago to cant the weapon. Im not taking precision shots in a mask anyways. At that point its putting rounds down range as good as i can get them
