I have the NB-100. I hear silicone is not as good as butyl rubber. Can it withstand nuclear fallout? ☃️☃️I know you have a mask that does this (400) but I just want to know if it's safe. Also, is the N-B-1 CBRN certified? Great video.Thanks!
Excellent questions! Regarding silicone vs butyl rubber, there is a common misconception that a gas mask HAS to have butyl rubber seals to be CBRN certified. This actually isn't the case.
CBRN actually has a lot of different rating levels, and depending on what you're looking to protect against will determine what seal you may want to go with. Both butyl rubber and silicone will provide protection against biological agents.
An example of where you may want to go with a butyl rubber face seal, is if you are dealing with extremely acidic gases, such as mustard gas. Butyl rubber is less permeable to acidic gases than silicone.
An example where you may want to go with a silicone seal is a wildfire situation where the burning chemicals aren't as acidic, yet are hotter, as silicone has higher resistant to heat than butyl rubber.
Regarding our N-B-1 - it actually just passed a new CE test this past year and is rated A2E2B2K2 P3, similar to our MaxPro MS-203 canister. This means it will protect against high concentrates of organic vapors, inorganic vapors, acidic gases, ammonia, and 99.9% of airborne particulates.

# A2b2e2kp3 filter. I'm not sure if I can use this for nuclear fallout. Can I? It's Manufactured in April 2022 with a five year shelf life. I checked on your website and it says the new one is # abek1p3 filter Just wondering because I like to get one. Thanks!
@@StarOasis26 The A2B2E2K2P3 is the new one. Website hasn't been updated as we want to wait until we sell through all the N-B-1s with labels for ABEK1P3 on them first. That way we don't say a higher rating on the website, first, and then a customer receives the one with the lower rating printed on the canister. We'd rather underpromise and over deliver.
But it's the same filter that was tested against higher concentrates.

Why don't you guys have all of your masks available on Amazon? Seems like there's only a few from what you guys actually offer on there. I'm looking to get the sge 400/3 bb and it would be cool just to charge it to my Amazon card...
We had the SGE 400/3 BB on Amazon, however our warehouse was shipping in the wrong unit per SKU, so we had to remove them from Amazon and get that fixed.

Seeing that y’all are pretty responsive here in the comments (awesome!) I have a couple of questions:
Just about to pre-order the IIR-100, and I’d like to know if there’s any plans for clear and/or tinted lenses or lens protectors? Also, will your current spectacle kit work with the IIR-100?
Also, one more: any particular filer recommendations for working against smoke? Thanks in advance!
We don't currently have the tinted variations planned for this product - but depending on inquires, we may bring this out for the IIR-100 within the next year.
Our current spectacle kit has yet to be tested with this gas mask, but was designed for our respirators / gas masks with dome shaped lenses, so we will probably need to develop a new one for this mask.
Our best filter comes stock on the IIR-100 - the DefensePro N-B-1 which filters out 99% of particulates, organic vapors, inorganic vapors, acidic gases and ammonia and it's derivatives. Unfortunately, it's not tested specifically for carbon monoxide, but we are working on this.

what are the benefits of having the tinted colors? I would think it is an obstacle not being able to see the face..
Hey Bobby! Excellent question. We originally launched the Light Amber and Smoke black tints for the following reasons:
Light Amber - it allows for 93% light transmission and increases visual acuity and contrast between objects. It's great for low light conditions like working in a dark warehouse, crawlspace, or attic.
Smoke Black - it allows for 30% light transmission and reduces brightness and glare. This is great for outdoors use or in bright light conditions or for people with eyes that are sensitive to light.
The mirrored tints have the same benefit of the Smoke Black lens. We just wanted to offer different color choices for personal preferences.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the pre-sold NB-100's SHOULD be in our warehouse later this month. As for your question about some kind of spray or product that can be used on the rubber seals to prolong them and decrease their chances from becoming compromised from acidic gases, I am going to reach out to my product specialists to see if they have any recommendations.
Just off the top of my head, I think there are sprays out there designed for scuba gear they may work in this instance as well.
I recently ordered ,multiple NB-100 and ST-100X masks along with many of the N-B-1 cannisters...my main purpose was short term protection 72-96 hr protection from a radiological event or perhaps chemical spill type situation that I want the family to be able to safely vacate the area should such a thing happen (think Ohio train derailment or perhaps wild fires)....can you comment on this purchase and if I have indeed purchased the right combination of masks and filters for these type scenarios or if I need to make an adjustment in my gear.

Sorry for the delayed response here. I think your purchases are perfect! Either the NB-100 with N-B-1 will be good for a biological or chemical problem. My only recommendation would be that you try and use the stock filter (the P-D-1) on the ST-100X if you are just dealing with wild fire smoke and save the N-B-1 canisters for a chemical or biological disaster.

Will you be making more tinted color masks? And maybe the same for the NB-100? And also, what are the orange rubber flaps for on the inside of the ST-100? Bc I took one out but then I put it back it.
Hi Anonymous Wolf. We are planning on doing the tints in the NB-100, but we are currently working on bringing attachments to the NB-100 first such as a drinking straw device and an electronic voice amplifier and radio.
Goal is to launch our first round of tints later this year!
The orange rubber piece in the ST-100X is a seal - it's needed in there to keep any air leaks happening at the point where the bayonet filters would normally attach (think our PD-101 model).

Hi Emerson Thor. Unfortunately, we don't have a compatible electronic voice amplifier for out PD series of respirators, however for the NB series, we are launching one that will have it on the gas mask! Should be available for sale early May!

So NB1 filters can be used on the St-100x?
That's correct! The ST-100X takes NATO 40mm, which is the same threading as the NB1.
Will the NB100 protect against CBRN
Thanks for your comment and question. The NB-100 tactical gas mask comes with the N-B-1 Defense filter, which is a CBRN-equivalent filter. It's top-notch in protecting against various hazardous substances, such as organic gases, inorganic gases, vapors, and even solid and liquid particles. So, you can trust this mask to keep you safe in a wide range of situations.
