Thank you so much for making this video, I cried from relief, my 9 month old daughter is almost walking she is so so active and such a happy curious baby. Our pediatrician made me so nervous when she said she wasn’t “gaining very much weight” and made me feel like I wasn’t making enough milk for her so I’ve been killing myself trying to boost my milk supply, and still only getting 4-5 oz when I pump at night. But this made me feel so much better, and even more after watching your other video about babies not gaining enough weight. I know she’s happy and healthy and ahead in her milestone development so I feel so much better now. Thank you!!!

I have many videos about weight and development. Every baby is different. Most babies double their Birthweight by 6mo and triple by 1y. But most 1yo are near 20 pounds. A baby born at 10 pounds is unlikely to be 30 pounds at 1y.
Such a kind soul! I needed this so badly. My baby is 6 months tomorrow and I was researching how to increase milk supply. So glad I found you -not worried at all now, thank you!!!
Just like many mommas here, I too was concerned about my supply lower especially because it took a while for my milk to come in. Thank you so much for this!!

Thank you thank you thank you! My pediatrician keeps telling me my 7mo almost 8mo isn’t getting enough breasts milk because I can only pump like 2oz total now, so I’ve been trying to boost it. I feel so much better now! Showing to my husband…this just took a HUGE weight off my shoulders.
Thank you so much, I've been having low milk supply ever since my baby is 8 months old. I was so skeptical that my BFing journey won't make it to a year, now I'm going to continue to pump and hoping it will last until a year or more. 🤗
Thank you SO MUCH, my son just started having really bad allergies, super congested and my milk supply went down significantly. I thought it was due to the stress but i will say my husband noticed the other day my milk wasn't as clearish as it was before. Hearing this now makes me think, it's all the stuff he needs to get these allergies outta his system.
Seriously thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to hear. My breast were filling up fast and firm and now they’re softer. I was getting 6-8oz and now it’s more so 4-5 sometimes 6oz. I was worried my baby wasn’t getting enough when nursing because my breast are so soft. I’ve been freaking out. You’re an angel.
Thank you ! Can you please talk about what happens after 12 months and beyond? There are no resources I can find for long term breastfeeding women and I’m flying blind here. Also wish I would have watched this video before my babe hit 6months. Makes so much sense!
My baby just completed 6 months and I'm exclusively pumping and I noticed that my milk supply is low as compared to the previous weeks. I was worried but now I'm glad 😊 I watched ur video n it helped me understand why its happening. However my mother did tell me that my milk supply will reduce as baby is being weaned n body knows etc etc but u explained the scientific reason too for it. Thank you 😊
Oh I’m so glad! Also - what style of pink have you been using as you’ve been EP? The pumps a lot of women use are not intended for EP and can start to die and get less out. So if that’s the case, you might be able to get a new pump from the company for free.
I needed to watch this so badly. This one and your growth video. Thank you for all your videos. I look forward to anymore. 💜 they made me feel so much better. I have a 7 month old. I went from pumping 30-40oz during a work day to 16oz. I was so stressed.
Once again, your channel has eased my mind! I appreciate your knowledge and comforting spirit 💖 My son is 7 months. I’m EBF, and I’ve noticed my breast have been softer throughout the day. Though I’ve Been drinking water, and eating good. Now I know what is going on. I haven’t given him solids yet. But I’m curious Can babies still be healthy on just breast milk for 1 year?
i feel so much better watching this!! i am understanding of what you’re saying, but still can’t help to question if what i am doing is right as far as breastfeeding. do you HAVE to pump? i struggle being out and about and not pumping after a feed. when i am home doing housework after a feed, not pumping. typically only pumping through the night. baby is distracted while breastfeeding and that makes it difficult for her to fully finish… ahhh
This i so me, and my baby also gets distracted by anything, every single little noise... its so frustrating because I feel like she doesn't eat enough.
This was the video I needed, that I had been searching for some explanation to explain my sudden drop this past week, my daughter is now 7 months, and I went from an increase to a sudden drop within the last month! Thank you for this!! My only question is, roughly how long does this happen (6-12 months) and will it increase or “go back up” at some point?
Mikayla Boylan It may not go up. But often that’s ok and just what baby needs. If your pump is tired and overused, that may be culprit also. Check out this
Thank you for taking the time to respond! No worries! Everything returned back to “normal” within 1-2 weeks, but this video definitely helped ease my mind 💛
Okay, that’s literally how I ended up on this video! My supply is looking like it’s dropping. It I have noticed it’s a different texture. He nurses as long as I’m off work. I pump twice at work and was considering going back to pumping 3 times at work like I did in the beginning. We’re 8 months in. We’re going on a trip in April and I’m afraid I won’t have enough milk stored for him for the 5 days we’ll be gone. He’ll be 11 months old and I’m terrified to have to supplement with formula for those 5 days that I’m away.
Mama. An 11mo will no way need formula no matter how much or little you’re pumping. No way! ua-cam.com/video/_kejSat1kRQ/v-deo.html Watch this one. Whether you go back to pumping 3X while at work is up to you. But sounds like you need reassurance that at 11mo - you definitely won’t need formula.
Hi Summer, i had to travel for three days the baby is 5months now. I couldnt pump diligently and now seems like the supply has gone down drastically. What do I do? I am power pumping, what else can I do along with breast feeding the baby, she does not seem to be interested in feeding at my breast due to supply issue...
My baby is 3 months old and literally the night before my baby turned 2 months, my supply dropped in half and i still hadnt gotten it back. My golden hour at 2am left as well.
Tell me more. Do you pump? Do you only breastfeed? Do a combo? Work away from baby? What is the 2am golden hour? Does baby sleep long stretches at night without feeding? Do you go long stretches without pumping or nursing? Are you on any form of birth control?
@DoneNaturally I exclusively pump every 2 1/2 eight times a day with 2 power pumps added. The golden hour is when I would usually wake up at 2am and could easily pump 8 ounces from each boob but not anymore. He just started to sleep a little longer at night, but when he was 2 months, he would eat every 2 hours. As soon as I stop sleeping on the couch and went back to the bed. Everything changed within 24 hours.
Omg so helpful!! Thank you so much for explaining this😊 my LO is 7 months and I definitely noticed a drop but ok just my body doing what it needs to do😊 got it!
Okay so I am 8 months into my breastfeeding journey. I am helping a family out with supplying milk to them for there 2 week old. Is that okay for her ?
Of course!!!!! Human milk is always ok for a human. Formula isn’t age specific at all. I just had an IG post on this! instagram.com/p/CkbAGLAOr6-/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
@@6042gymnast They also get more efficient at nursing as they get older so their sessions can shorter. How much do they drink in a bottle? When do they get bottles?
@DoneNaturally He's averaged 6 minute feeds for ages and if I tried to get him to eat longer he'd spit up. But now it's a battle to get anything over 2-3 minutes which I feel is impossible for him to be getting enough. He used to do 4 oz bottles every 3-4 hours and now managing 3 maybe 3.5 every 3-4 hours
@@6042gymnast that sounds quite normal. 3-4oz bottles are typical and as he ages it’ll get even less as he enjoys food. As for nursing, if he’s growing his pattern is working. Here’s a video I call Drive Thru Breastfeeding. ua-cam.com/video/oaAeQKNEO7o/v-deo.htmlsi=1jxkkBMxQnnRummg
What is typically recommended for preemies is to use their adjusted age. Solids should not be started before 6 months according to the AAP. (for you that would be adjusted). And the AAP recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding is for at least 6 months (again adjusted) and continued breastfeeding for at minimum 1 - 2 years. With breastfeeding longer exposure is better for you and baby.
So what is a normal output for a pumping mom and when does it become an under supply? Or a better question is how much milk should 6-12m olds be getting in addition to solids? I’m pumping ever 3 hours and only getting 6oz total all day.
My daughter is just about to turn 6mo this made me feel sooo much better! I breastfeed but pump to keep my supply up, lately I’ve been worried because I’m only getting a small amount ! Thank you soo much!
Hey I say this was a few months ago and I was just curious how did everything turn out for you my baby just turn six months and I’m not making as much as before . Anything you did ??
What a relief! I’ve noticed that my milk is thicker lately! Do I still need to send the same oz in bottles?? My 9 month old has been 3 3oz bottles while at daycare, but I have only pumped 8-7oz the last several days. I have a small freezer stash, but it won’t last long. I want to be sure I am sending enough for her.
Omg thank you 🙏 ❤🙏 I was googling about this subject and I remembered you. Luckily I knew the name of your channel and when I searched your channel name that was the first video that came up and my eyes lit up. ( I know Google search is smart and from googling about the same subject found the topic that I was waiting for in UA-cam ) can you explain why one breast produce less milk? Is there anything can be done? First 3-4 month my left side was producing little bit more and now it has switched. Aldo please please please talk about eating for breast milk and wiring out. Thank you sooooo much
I saw my supply drop at 6 months. How much should I be feeding her every bottle? Typically I’ve given her 6 oz 4-5 times a day and its so hard to keep up. I saw your other video about babies even 6 months need 2-4 oz per feed … but how many times a day? It’s just so hard for me to keep up while working full time
Oh thank you. I was literally at the verge of crying because I did exclusive breafeeding but now baby is 6months, my milk is wayy too low. And I pumped today and the color looked like colostrum kinda which confirms what you said. I thought my body was failing me. I've been feeling too bad about it. He's lost weight. So I guess I need to find ways to get him to eat other foods now.
Pumping 5oz hours to not even up to 1 oz at all. Trying to get him to eat cereal as his first meal but can't mix it with breast milk coz no milk coming. Too too low.
I have some questions about my 7 month old. During the day time he only nurses for 2-3 minutes every 2-3 hours and on demand if he wants it sooner. But during the night he will nurse for 10-25 minutes every 3-4 hours. He does get very distracted so I try to feed him in a quiet room. He is having an average of 8 wet/poopy diapers in a 24 hour period but at times I feel like they could be more wet. At night he soaks through his diaper and pajamas at least once a night sometimes twice. Is it normal or ok for him to be nursing so little during the day? I have been worried that it was my supply. I feed at the breast and only pumped in the beginning.
Omg thank you so so much. I do have a question since I pump alot and my baby just turned 8 months. How much should it fluctuate and at what point would it be concerning that supply has gone too low?(if there is such a thing)
Hi Summer! 💗 So my baby is almost 6 months now. I have some pumped milk in the freezer from June, July, August when I was trying to stash some (but then I quit that) I’ve hardly used any. He rarely gets a bottle. I am not opposed to it at all-it’s just kinda how it’s all worked out. SO-if I were to leave him and he were to get a bottle, how much milk from way back then would he get? (Confusing feeding a 6 month old 2 month old milk) Do I give him more because it’s older? I know your 1 hour 1 oz rule but wasn’t sure if that applied to older milk. Or what do you suggest for that freezer milk??
You give him a normal amount. The fact that breastmilk changes with age is another amazing thing about breastmilk, but older Milk is never inappropriate or changed so much that we have to alter volume. Think of it like this, formula is always the same no matter the age of the baby. Right?? So just give your baby a normal amount (2-4oz) for a bottle, even if the milk is from months ago. 😊
Ok I understand! I guess I just never really figured out the normal amount to give him. The few times I have left him, I would leave more than what I would pump. Thank you, the age of the milk makes sense I was assuming it was “watery-er” or something 🤦🏼♀️
I exclusively pump and and my little one is 6 months now I want to storage milk in the freezer but my milk supply won’t go up does it mean I will stay like that? Or I can still build up my supply?
The likelihood is that your supply is established. You can certainly try to increase pump session and see if you get more milk, but even if you don't, and you keep doing what you're doing....you'll be fine! You may entertain renting a Medela Symphony breastpump, those are the best pumps for EP, getting the most milk out and the strongest motor that can last longest for as often as EPers use their pump. ;)
@@DoneNaturally she's 6 mo but also in 3rd percentile for weight..my milk supply literally dropped over night but now she's starting solids. Thank you!
I’m 5 mpp my supply is barely there and I’m constantly pumping since day 1 every 3 hours I can only make 6oz in 12 hours he drinks it right away what do I do it’s been like this for 2 months I have no more stash 😓
My baby came 9weeks early- he's almost 6 months old but he's 4 months adjusted. Does my body understand this? I want to make it to hopefully one year adjusted for him but have seen my supply lessen in the last few weeks. I am an over supplier so I'm not scared yet but really want to keep my preemie babe on breastmilk as long as possible. Also is this why some sources say a breastfed baby should never need more then 5oz at a time??
Yes your body knows he’s 6 months old but yet 4 months adjusted. And your supply knows this too. In fact, it’s been shown that mothers of premature babies, their milk maintains a more colostrum like set of ingredients to help protect them for longer bc they need the extra help! And yes, most breastfed babies never need more than 4oz at a time, rarely 5oz. I have a video on that too. I’ll link for you.
Please watch this. It’s sooooo rare for a baby of this mature age to require formula. IF baby needs more nutrition, whole food is better than formula. ua-cam.com/video/_kejSat1kRQ/v-deo.html
@@asmafarooq6205 As much food as baby wants. Most babies under 6 months need about 24oz/day. So certainly less than that at 8 months. All babies and circumstances vary. Rough guess could be 12-16oz a day. Making sure baby is continuing to grow well. And it depends on if you’re EP or only pumping and measuring milk during a workday and otherwise nursing.
@Done Naturally baby doesn't want to drink from breast so I pump and give him in the bottle. Once or twice a day he's drinking from breast. Mostly I'm pumping and try to pump every 3 hours it's 3 oz sometimes 2oz and I feel that's less but baby is refusing milk all the time. He's eating well and looks healthy baby
Does this mean we should change anything? I was pumping 12 oz during an 8hr work week and sending 8 with baby to daycare a day. Now I’m barely pumping 8 oz. baby will be six months June 1st.
Maybe...could also be your pump losing its power...especially if you EP, or pump very often, or have a prior used breastpump, or don't plug it in. But with an 8hr workday, sending 7-8oz is just fine, especially if you feed before you leave, and make sure they don't feed the 1.5hr before you pick up, and feed all other times of the day you are home with them. :)
Any amount of breastfeeding is better than a shorter amount. The immunological benefits continue for as long as a baby is fed maternal milk. And it is dose-dependant; meaning the more and the longer human milk is given, the more and longer protection for baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization both reccomend a minimum of 1-2 years of breastfeeding and beyond for as long after as mom/baby wish.
Hi...my baby is 6 th month now..my milk supply was low from starting ... My baby had latching problem....I use to feed by nipple shield.... after that I used pump for around 1 month.... supply was like 50 50...I use to feed both BM and formula.....nyt times I use to feed only BM ....but from 1 month I am feeling very low supply....nyt time also I am gvg formula...what to do plz reply reply reply
Is it okay not to breastfeed during night time around 6-7hours does the milk supply decrease? My baby just sleeps sometimes 12 hours but I'm afraid my milk supply will disappear
Hi this video helped me as well I have been freaking out thinking I have a low milk supply but this makes sense now. My baby is 6 months old and just recently my milk amount seems to be dry at night and sometimes mid afternoon but i was really concerned when I tried nursing him before bed and he kept popping off so I expressed some milk to find barely any milk coming out so I ended up giving him a little formula and even though he didn’t cry he chugged the formula and that was his first formula because he doesn’t take any bottles only breastfeeds. I kept trying to drink a ton of water then kept trying to express If this normal that before bed he doesn’t get enough of my milk and is that ok to supplement before bed while this happens?
If you a EBF and always have been, I wouldn’t supplement formula. What tells you that you are dry? Popping off is often many other things, not that milk is gone. And pumping is never a good indicator of how much milk we make especially if you EBF and rarely pump.
I have a question, so breastfeeding was hard for me since the beginning & so I exclusively pumped for the first 3 months then I stopped right at 3 months & dried up in 1 week & was drinking this tea to completely dry up but after that week I wanted to breastfeed again so I started re-lactation, pumping every 2 hours & at about 4 months I started just nursing him no pumping, & now he’s six months & I only pump about 2 oz every 2 hours when I used to pump 4 oz every 2 hours but he’s been waking up every two hours at night since he was about 4 months, & he used to sleep thru the night since 1 month, is this because he’s not getting enough milk during the day ?
Great video! So long story short...I stopped breastfeeding at 8 months and started the relactatation process at 9 months. I had almost totally dried up and sadly my baby is no longer latching. Anyway, the good news is that 3 weeks on and I am now making 350 mls a day so still a way off but vast improvement from the drips I was producing at first and I'm delighted to be giving her two bottles of breast milk now. So my question....will my milk now be age appropriate even though I've relacated? I'm guessing so as the body is so clever - I was amazed that as my milk was drying up before, it became thicker and richer in antibodies which I read is because your body knows baby is getting less?! Anyway would appreciate clarity here. Many thanks :)
Omg that's amazing!! Way to go! You totally need to watch this video. 350ml/day for a 9mo old may be all you need!!!! And yes your body is smart and will be age appropriate bc your body is still in communication with your baby via kisses and natural contact! ❤️
@@DoneNaturally another fab video - very helpful. . Made me think, I often feel the pressure to give my baby one 100/150 ml bottle at a time but I only get this at my morning pump, throughout the day I'm getting a yield of 50ml at each pump. I have been saving up these mls so I can give her a larger bottle but I'm now thinking I should just give her the freshly expressed breast milk, even if it's only 50 mls and then she can have some solids after if still hungry?! I'm a sahm so I have that flexibility. I guess most breastfed babies snack like this anyway and it means less chance of wasting precious breastmilk! I'm only 3 weeks into relactation so I expect daily yield to increase anyway. On another note, any success stories of older babies relatching after a break?! I live in hope 🙏X
@@janespence9307 Yes make up for it with foods. Or (and) spread the milk out thru the day so baby is getting same sized bottles. Not a 150ml bottle. But more like 60-90ml bottles. 💪

I thought it was due to the stress but i will say my husband noticed the other day my milk wasn't as clearish as it was before. Hearing this now makes me think, it's all the stuff he needs to get these allergies outta his system.
Exactly. The ingredients are changing always to meet his needs!!!!!!

Thank you 😊

i feel so much better watching this!! i am understanding of what you’re saying, but still can’t help to question if what i am doing is right as far as breastfeeding. do you HAVE to pump? i struggle being out and about and not pumping after a feed. when i am home doing housework after a feed, not pumping. typically only pumping through the night. baby is distracted while breastfeeding and that makes it difficult for her to fully finish… ahhh

No way! ua-cam.com/video/_kejSat1kRQ/v-deo.html
Watch this one. Whether you go back to pumping 3X while at work is up to you. But sounds like you need reassurance that at 11mo - you definitely won’t need formula.
This helps a lot, but what do we do to feed the baby?
Feed the baby the milk you collect, if you’re pumping. Knowing it’s meeting their needs. And usually solids at this time as well.
Thanks so much! Could this also mean less wet diapers?
I just love this channel
Thank you so much!!
Baby will be 5 months Friday and has just started to latch. He is trying to sit up and roll over. I’m pumping like crazy to get it back up. Thank you
Hi Summer, i had to travel for three days the baby is 5months now. I couldnt pump diligently and now seems like the supply has gone down drastically. What do I do? I am power pumping, what else can I do along with breast feeding the baby, she does not seem to be interested in feeding at my breast due to supply issue...
Omg! Thank you thank you thank you! I've been so stressed about this !
Thank you so much for the reassurace! It means the world to a breastfeeding mama!
@DoneNaturally No to all the other questions but he is about to start going to daycare now and I'm still pumping and trying to figure it out.
So cool. Did notice all of this recently. Baby is 11 months. Milk looks so much more fatty and thick when pumped

Hi Summer, how many months should i exclusively feed a 33 weeker? When should I start solids?
What is typically recommended for preemies is to use their adjusted age. Solids should not be started before 6 months according to the AAP. (for you that would be adjusted). And the AAP recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding is for at least 6 months (again adjusted) and continued breastfeeding for at minimum 1 - 2 years. With breastfeeding longer exposure is better for you and baby.
Thank you Summer!!!
So helpful thank you!
So glad it has been helpful.
So what is a normal output for a pumping mom and when does it become an under supply? Or a better question is how much milk should 6-12m olds be getting in addition to solids? I’m pumping ever 3 hours and only getting 6oz total all day.

Thank you so much i was worried Am breastfeedin mom and my baby is five months all over sudden my breasts became very soft and producing less milk
Hello,
My baby girl doesn’t like to latch anymore and my milk supply went down, how do I get it to go back up ?
I saw my supply drop at 6 months. How much should I be feeding her every bottle? Typically I’ve given her 6 oz 4-5 times a day and its so hard to keep up. I saw your other video about babies even 6 months need 2-4 oz per feed … but how many times a day? It’s just so hard for me to keep up while working full time
Usually it’s 24oz per day under 6 months then as foods are introduced that volume is less and less.

Its alreday happening for me and my babe is 5month what can i do plz help me should i stop or what ??
How are you doing? I'm sorry for a delay in my response...
Sounds like he’s gotten very efficient, which is very common.
@@DoneNaturally thank you for your reply! Good to know.
Omg thank you so so much. I do have a question since I pump alot and my baby just turned 8 months. How much should it fluctuate and at what point would it be concerning that supply has gone too low?(if there is such a thing)
iceangel587 At this age you really just pay attention to thr big stuff like developmental milestones and less to weight and how much is pumped.
iceangel587 This helps explain a little. ua-cam.com/video/aI0ymqk9h94/v-deo.html
Hi Summer! 💗
So my baby is almost 6 months now.
So if my milk has reduced around 6 month should I supplement with formula to meet the previous months intake of 24oz?or feed only what I pump
Depends on your circumstances. Your pump could be worn out. Do you breastfeed? Do you EP? Do you work away from baby?
I needed to hear this 😭
I exclusively pump and and my little one is 6 months now I want to storage milk in the freezer but my milk supply won’t go up does it mean I will stay like that? Or I can still build up my supply?
The likelihood is that your supply is established. You can certainly try to increase pump session and see if you get more milk, but even if you don't, and you keep doing what you're doing....you'll be fine! You may entertain renting a Medela Symphony breastpump, those are the best pumps for EP, getting the most milk out and the strongest motor that can last longest for as often as EPers use their pump. ;)
So does this mean that baby needs less than 24 oz per day at this point? More like 12 ish oz? Thank you for this video
How old is your baby? At some point yes they don't need 24oz/d.

@Done Naturally how much breastmilk does baby needs at 8 months and how many times he needs food.
@@asmafarooq6205 Sounds like you’re giving plenty! When you say refusing milk, do you mean doesn’t want as much as you’re offering?
Does this mean we should change anything? I was pumping 12 oz during an 8hr work week and sending 8 with baby to daycare a day. Now I’m barely pumping 8 oz. baby will be six months June 1st.
Maybe...could also be your pump losing its power...especially if you EP, or pump very often, or have a prior used breastpump, or don't plug it in. But with an 8hr workday, sending 7-8oz is just fine, especially if you feed before you leave, and make sure they don't feed the 1.5hr before you pick up, and feed all other times of the day you are home with them. :)
After 6 month is brest feeding is enough for my baby...please reply dear❤
Any amount of breastfeeding is better than a shorter amount. The immunological benefits continue for as long as a baby is fed maternal milk. And it is dose-dependant; meaning the more and the longer human milk is given, the more and longer protection for baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization both reccomend a minimum of 1-2 years of breastfeeding and beyond for as long after as mom/baby wish.

I kept trying to drink a ton of water then kept trying to express
If this normal that before bed he doesn’t get enough of my milk and is that ok to supplement before bed while this happens?
If you a EBF and always have been, I wouldn’t supplement formula. What tells you that you are dry? Popping off is often many other things, not that milk is gone. And pumping is never a good indicator of how much milk we make especially if you EBF and rarely pump.
Plz anysone explain this video tamil
