    Just want to say, this is the cleanest look I've seen so far. I love that you used a light brown carpet. I shared your video with my dad and I'm going for it! Great job! I'm here in Las Vegas so I've been taking mine to Lake Mead and paddling out. I started looking at trolling motors, currently bidding on a min Kota 40lb, and while I wait, I'm going after the boards...but I did see that some guys were going with 11/32 on the board. I'm gonna try that first, then if not comfortable I can switch to the size you are using. Really nice and clean. Also loved the hole for the cable in the box! Convenient!

      Thank you for the compliment. :) I made one last tweak on the floor a couple weeks ago. I connected the floor boards with 3 hinges. I ended up using the hinges I originally purchased (shown in the vid) and I bought one more. I used T-nuts and half inch machine screws to secure them and it came out fantastic. The reason I decided to join them up was cause they would separate and give way too much when there was weight unevenly distributed in the boat. Im glad I went for it because it truly did make it better. I was worried about sharp edges but the tnuts are totally flush with the carpet and underneath I always put a blanket over the rubber floor anyway so that's always protected. I'll see if I can make an update video soon. Might as well enjoy the last few weeks of good weather we have left here before ol' man winter comes along. Quick suggestion: if eBay doesn't work out for you you should check out craigslist. That's where I found my trolling motor for super cheap. GL w/ everything!

      @@MamiBoricuaNYC You have just answered the main question I had about the hinges. Was there enough support of the floor boards without them or not. My guess was that the floor would buckle at the seams. I thank you for the additional info and your colors that work so well. Now I can go ahead with going ahead with my project. Just bought my Seahawk 4 through eBay as “ parts “ for $68.00 US in November 2021. And I agree, Craig’s List is the way to go for motors. And solar panels are cheap now.

    Nice setup! Are you happy with the two piece floor w/o hinges? Does it cave in where the two pieces meet? I want to do something similar and skip the hinges if possible to avoid puncture risk. Thanks!

    • @MamiBoricuaNYC
      @MamiBoricuaNYC  9 років тому

      Well as of the moment I'm fine with the unhinged floor. The PVC pipes prevent it from depressing down too much when stepping on either side. I'm still not decided as to whether or not I'm going to hinge it eventually. But for now I'm still leaning towards leaving it unhinged. Not really liking the combination of screws/hinges and inflatable boats.

      Thanks a lot for the compliment! I bought it in Sept. 2014 and so far I've had zero issues with it. If you take care of it, you'll have a reliable and cheap inflatable boat that'll last you a while. I've launched it out on the Hudson River with quite a bit of wake and aside from the bobbing up and down like I was whitewater rafting, it managed fine. I don't plan on using it on lively, choppy rivers anymore though. Motion sickness isn't my cup o' tea. I'm sticking with calm lakes for cruising or fishing.

      Yeah the color of the carpet, pipe insulation surrounding the floor, and the boat itself looks like the winner of the mods that I’ve seen so far. Good job on the woman who built this so far.

    I like it. I. have a fish hunter 380 inflatable boat that I was thinking about pulling a floor in but wasn't sure about a few thing. 1. have you had problems with rubbing where the boat and wood meet? (I know there is foam but did that last) 2. did the wood end up bowing? 3. did the carpet stay down after getting wet a few times.

    • @MamiBoricuaNYC
      @MamiBoricuaNYC  7 років тому

      Hi there, well to answer your questions: i have had zero issues with the floor rubbing against the boat. The foam does a good job in preventing that. I ended up hinging the floor with 3 of the hinges I showed in the vid. The floor still bows upward some in the mid section if there's no one sitting in the middle. There's ways to fix it but I'm not gonna bother for the time being. Perhaps moving the battery to the front of the boat so the weight could be more evenly distributed would help some. The carpet is just how it was when I first glued it onto the floor. It's held up very well against the water these past couple years. The glue I used was 3M Hi-Strength 90 spray adhesive. Excellent stuff.

    Hello.. First of all you have performed a great job!! I have some questions for you if it possible..
    1)How many amper is your battery and how many time work?
    2)is your wood a marine phlywood or not ?
    Thank you!!!

    • @MamiBoricuaNYC
      @MamiBoricuaNYC  9 років тому +1

      Hello and thank you. My battery's amp hour rating is 109. I haven't pushed it to complete depletion so I can't say how long it would last but the longest I've taken the boat out with the motor was 2 hours and the battery still had a lot of juice left. Wasn't even half way depleted. The wood is not marine grade, but just regular plywood.

      Yea i ended up hinging the floor with the ones I showed in the video plus an additional one for a total of 3 hinges. You can store it all in the trunk of a car. However, the floor would have to be cut in 3 instead of 2, I would imagine, to get it to fit in the trunk.

      Yes, I find that it adds extra rigidity to the floor as opposed to just laying it straight on the rubber. Plus I was a little worried about the wood possibly breaking with the weight being put on it, and the support the PVC provides helps against that happening.

      I don't remember any specifics regarding the measurements, to be honest. All I did was turn the boat over and trace the floor section on a plastic drop cloth I bought at Home Depot for a dollar. Then I cut the template, taped it on to the floor board and cut around it. If you do that you should be fine.

I just purchase 4 seats for mine I made the benches but I made it after I bought the battery and the motor, I also got my lil motor from Craigslist's I'm out in PA there are two great lakes here for these boats I also got a canopy for my Seahawk..

    • @MamiBoricuaNYC
      @MamiBoricuaNYC  9 років тому +2

      Haha Wepaaaa! Boricua girl power! Lol Well, I chose half inch plywood for the floor and 3/4 size pvc pipes. At first I wasn't sure if I was gonna end up using the pvc but after I actually placed them underneath the finished floor, it definitely adds more stability. The last thing I plan on getting for it is the canopy. Before I made my bench I went online to look for the measurements of the minn kota power center to make sure it'd be big enough to accommodate it. So much for that! Lol But it's all good though. Best of luck with your project! :)

      It's A LOT better with the wood floor without a doubt. I can actually stand on it now. Getting in and getting out of the boat is a breeze since there's something firm to step on and if I need to stand up to stretch my legs or what have you I can do it now. No way is that possible without it. I spent a good chunk of change in all the supplies to make the floor (not to mention time and effort) but it was well worth it in the end. Makes an already awesome boat even better.

    • @MamiBoricuaNYC
      @MamiBoricuaNYC  9 років тому +1

      Oh I don't know because I didn't measure that. I just cut to fit depending on the length of each seam of the rubber floor. There are 5 seams where you place each of the pvc pipes, the middle one being the longest. I just cut them about 1.5 inches from the ends of the boat because I didn't want the ends of the pvc pipes (although they're capped) pressing up against it to prevent any chaffing, friction or scratching the vinyl of the boat. With this project I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Hence my avoidance of staples.
