  • I know it's been a while again since my last video, I do have some covers planned for the future aswell so it will happen ;)
    But for the mean time, here is a vid I did a couple of months ago that was originally only meant to show friends both Dime's signature "chainsaw" tone AND his clean tone with chorus from my newly aquired MXR Flanger/Doubler :D ... Yes I finally have completed the main part of his rig!
    It's not the usual high energy video I would post, and I KNOW I can play better, but like I said, It was originally just a test.
    ENJOY! /,,/

    I think it sounds better when people make small mistakes on solos and even just guitar playing in general. It reminds you that everything they’re doing is their honest work and it adds emotion

      Thanks, I always appreciate these kind of comments, mainly because it's exactly why I try to record everything I do in one take, as opposed to making a "studio"-like recording, so I can showcase the performance side of my playing rather than recording/mixing skills!

    I like the way you always stand when you play, how you play through mistakes and you aren't afraid to mess with your tone while playing. Just like a real performer. Too many guitar players on youtube and none of them can perform.

    • @DomicidalCovers

      Thanks very much! I love it when people appreciate the effort I put in. For me it isn't about fancy video editing to make it look good, when I'm doing full songs I like to try and get it done in one take aswell, or when I'm doing a full video at least. As for messing with the tone, I try to do that as little as possible, but with the randall I didn't have a reverb footswitch so it's needed for solos sometimes :P Cheers!

      An DangThe Hi, thanks! I have the 6-band "pedal" but since it has no on/off switch to stomp, I just keep it in the back of the rack. The 31 band is for my own sound with the Laney. It depends what you want the gear for? if you want to get closer to Dime's tone then you will need the blue 6-band, not the 31 band like I have, but I don't know why you would want to get the 31 band when you know that Dime used the 6-band :S I only have 1 cabinet and that's my Marshall 1960 Vintage cab, Apparently in his cabs, he used a mix of Randall Jaguar and Vintage 30's though.

    • @DomicidalCovers
      @DomicidalCovers  10 років тому

      Rouwiinator I'l do my best lol. The output volumes vary every time I record really, mainly because it depends on what rig I'm using. I just set it all up until everything sounds good to me and there's no clipping or anything. The signal chain in just pretty much the same as what Dime had, that's already all over the internet, but I'l tell you what I had as a complete chain. Guitar > MXR 6 band(blue face) > Furman PQ-4 > dbx266xl noise supressor/gate > Randall rg80es(high input), and the MXR Flanger/Doubler is in the effects loop. All that was sent from the Randalls Line out and into my Line 6 UX1, and that's where I never save any of the settings.

    • @DomicidalCovers
      @DomicidalCovers  7 років тому +1

      ah no problem, I've had worse comments than that before haha, it was just a bit vague because usually people will tell me what they don't like about it IF they don't like it :) The strange thing here is that I actually think the Walk solo could have been a LOT better. I did screw up the start of the solo on this one, but overall it was hard to get the wah parts right to blend with sustained notes at times, and it's not something I could get right 10 times in a row but I thought I did a good job at the time! Also I don't think I had the tone/gain set up as well as I have now.
