EP65: Off Grid in the Goldfields and Maldon | Top Victorian Hip Camp | Short Staycation Escapes

- We''re out again in the Opus, making the most of the long weekend, as we head up to Maldon in the Victorian Goldfields. We're up to full speed setting up the camper trailer now, and have bought all the extra gadgets and gizmos to make our trips efficient and enjoyable, so we are now able to maximise our time out exploring the places we are visiting. That being said, the Hipcamp where we are staying (Pebbleridge Camp) is so lovely and relaxing, with such great views, that we also make sure we spend a bit of time just at camp!
We do head out into Maldon and we are lucky that we are there for the Maldon Folk Festival. It is such a picturesque town, it deserves its accolade as the first notable town in Australia, with its 19th Century charm!! We also head up to Mount Tarrengower, which has spectacular 360 degree views of the area, as well as visiting the Maldon Steam Railway and the Dredge and Dragline historical site.
We are Hannah, Chris and dog Archie. We love exploring this wonderful country that is Australia, our "Staycation Oz"! Follow our journey as find new places to visit and search for amazing places Australia has to offer!

Hi Lyn and Corrie! Yes, we’ve actually been there twice now, we liked it so much the first time (and not too far away from home just to go for two nights!)
Yes you can absolutely get a van in there. You’d just need to take it steady in on the gravel track, and make sure you’ve got levelling ramps as it is a bit wonky. I highly recommend a visit to Maldon too - such a lovely little town with lots of cute shops, great eateries and loads of character!
