Selina Veronique Crochet Oh I'm so glad I've come to look at your already recorded videos...Outlander was one of my favourites and I loved the Shawls she wore . Brilliant you've done this . Thankyou x PS ... dang I missed giveaway lol
One of the first things I noticed about Outlander (other than Sam Heughan), was the gorgeous knits and crochet wraps and shawls! The costumes are gorgeous, but the wraps, etc. are fabulous!!
@@SelinaVeronique I've started it and just came back to check a few details. I'm sure I got the right wool (although the colour is different to the photo). But it doesn't look as soft and wooly as yours. I shall carry on though, as its a nice easy pattern & this is so helpful. 👍
So glad I found this video! I found the pattern on Pintrest, and bought the pdf off of Etsy, but I hadn't crocheted in so long I was having trouble understanding the pattern! Then I come to UA-cam and low and behold, here is the video to match the pattern! Thank Gawd! So, I have finished my first 14 rows. Kind of a big deal, this is my first crochet project post T.B.I and S.C.I, and there was a time for a while where it was questionable if I was ever gonna be able to do this kind of thing again! Thank you for the easy pattern and explanation!
Outlander is my favourite series...and I noticed all the shawls and fingerless gloves, cape lets and wonderful work. I will be starting this project today. Thank you!
@@SelinaVeronique YES!! I went through your videos and saw it. I followed your pattern and it came out wonderful. I sewed up the neck area so it can look like Claire's small on top and big on the bottom. Thank you again and you now have a subscriber 😁
Absolutely lovely. Such a fine, dedicated piece of art. I watch your tutorials from Central America, and would be sooo happy to win this glamorous giveaway! 🌺🙏🧵🧶❣️✨
Thank you so much! You can use whichever yarn you prefer; if you are following my exact pattern please make sure your yarn is of the same size as mine, or if you are using a different weight yarn, make sure you use the appropriate size hook which corresponds to the yarn you are using
@@SelinaVeronique Thank you! And sorry another thing, when you say the top of ch 3 does that mean the chain closest to the crochet hook (AKA the LAST chain you made of the chain 3 on the previous round), or furthest (the first chain you made)? Does that make sense? thanks for the help from a beginner!! :)
This is WONDERFUL thank you. I have been DREAMING about this. I knit but turns out I am allergic to the nickel. I am a very experienced crochet and I have this lovely yarn. Thank you!!
So I have made this, I’m not sure if I have the wrong crochet hook but my triangle is long on the back and beautiful but its not long enough to tie in the back 😞, I might add a few rows to see if It helps !
Another great tutorial! I made so many of your items. Maybe some day can you do a pocket shawl with a hood. I’m more of a beginner so I don’t know how to add a hood on my own. Getting yarn to make this shawl. Congratulations on all your subscribers. You so deserve everyone! 💗
Thank you so much 💓 your kind words mean the world to me! I am in the process of crocheting a pocket shawl with a hood which should be out in two weeks 🌸
Thank you! I just started reading Outlander, and I love it! I’m working on a knitted version of this shawl now but it’s taking some time, I still love to crochet! This will definitely be next❤️❤️❤️ I really love your vintage crochet series. Oh my do I love this shawl 😍❤️
@@cdryan21 Hi. Louise Ballanous , not sure I spelled her name correctly, but anyway. Her blog is called Handy Little Me, she has a whole series on the Outlander, she also has a ytube channel which is called Handy Little Me. That’s where I’ve found the knitted version. I’m a much slower knitter, so I was thrilled to see a crochet version❤️
You can make a chain at the corners to tie it up. Measure around your waist and leave room to make bow. At least 12-16 inches long on each side including your waist measurement.
Hi, I'm crocheting one of these at the moment, I'm using chenille yarn. I've done 20 rows, adding 3 dc for each row but the shawl is looking more like a stingray shape rather than a triangle, not sure what I'm doing wrong?
I’m having trouble, my top is sloping downward and it isn’t very straight across. I’m doing the correct stitching and have similar yarn, could it be a tension issue?
Hi! Thank you for stopping by; yes so it could be that your tension may be slightly tighter, also the top of the shawl "straightens" out one you have already done a certain number of rows. Have you joined my Facebook group linked in the description box, maybe if you post a picture we could help you figure it out, I hope this helps!
For some reason the long side of the triangle is curving down, like the short sides are pulling it down.. is it possible it needed more extra stitches at the start/end of the rows, or is this normal?
Hi, I've made the shawl and found it's very long in the back and not wide enough to cross in the front and tie in the back. I kept adding rows hoping to have the two front ends meet and overlap in the back. How can I make it wider in proportion to length. Should I begin and end each row with 3 DC instead of 2? Should I also increase the center to 3DC, ch 2, 3Dc. Since I've already ripped out the first one I made I'd rather not go by trial and error if I can help it. My basic problem with fitting this pattern to me is that I'm not tall and thin like Catriona Balfe. I'm shorter and wider.
Hi, thanks for your comment. I am surprised that by adding rows the shawl still didn't come out the way you wanted, as I have had a lot of feedback from women who wanted it wider and this technique worked out fine for them. It will always be longer at the back than wide, as this is the shape of this specific wrap. I would suggest making this pattern again, with more rows, and also adding on either corner a long chain through which you would slip stitch. This would create straps so to speak that would enable you to attach this wrap around you with not hassle and very easily. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the tutorial! Once I get to about the 15th row, I am noticing that the bottom edge of the triangle is no longer straight. it is "rounding'' like this: ⌣ . Any suggestions on how to fix or avoid this ? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Thank you for your message. Are you sure you are adding the right number of stitches on each row (ie 2 DC together on each corner, plus in the center ch 2 space, 2DC, ch2, 2 DC? Hope this helps!

At 8:00 and 10:10 are you placing the double crochets into the hole beneath the 3 chains (fake double crochet), or actually into one of those chains?
