I fixed mine with some help of someone who had his dialed in. Mine now sounds great plenty of compliments. I learned it’s all about settings. 73

FINALLY---SOMEONE who agrees with me about the HORRIBLE HAND MIC and screwy eq setting needed to make it sound half way decent ( almost )

They could be selling a whole lot more radios if they would fix this problem everybody I ever hear on the radio always says well the 7300 works perfect out the box you know the rest of the story so anyways any of us that pay attention and have heard a new person on the hand mic on a brand new radio we all know they sound terrible I guess some people might think they're not that bad but when comparing them to the 7300 it's awful and yesu is losing a good part of the market just because of that I don't think myself or anybody else wants to fiddle around with all three or four settings for each frequency part of the EQ and then do the same thing for the processor and then have to run the processor just to get the radio to put 100 Watts out

When you turned the processor on it was way to hot because of the Mic gain of 65... back it down to 50. If you want to get rid of " Mud"...you don't add " Mud frequencies" ,200-700 hz ....you cut them. Try -6 to -7 on 500 hz with a bandwidth of about 7-8 to really focus close to those freq's. add about 5 with a bandwidth about 8 near 1.5 to raise the mids from non existent....and do the same around 2600 mhz. Change high cut to 12db curve at about 2900 in " Radio settings menu".

I noticed when you were just talking into the camera you sounded normal. You keyed the mic up you dropped your voice on purpose. That might be a variable you're dealing with.

I usually raise voice when talking at camera with background noise etc as people say I'm not talking loud enough. I'm also not facing camera when i keyed up due to the position i was sitting in.

@@hamradiohack I understand that too. It wasn't really a volume issue but you'd change the tone of your voice between keying the mic and just talking into the camera. I think we all do that unintentionally to some degree. I just bought the 710 yesterday and an audio report I got right out of the box was that the audio was bassy. A couple of adjustments like you made here made a difference and everyone who heard me said it sounded good.

The md100 is good, but the hand mic it comes with doesn't sound amazing for me, but i got the radio for the receiver, really.
