I enjoy your videos I just picked up at the use of 450 as a ham time and I’m not very used to it but I’m trying to figure it out hi hi I’m 85 years old and I don’t figure stuff out like I just saw and I was younger fella but I enjoy a Videos God bless
Thanks for that. I did a few videos on the FT450D, it is a great Radio, almost like a modern day FT757GXII. Check out my links during and at the end of the Videos. Thanks again. Cheers
I have had many "set-ups" but this was the simplest and most effective, not the cheapest (not the most expensive either!) It works Very Well. Thanks for Your Comment, Cheers
I'm just want one the microphone 🎙️ about I haveused to 450d it works marvelous you give I like it a give you a hundred percent on that video it's very excellent 👍💯 I like it
Great setup video. I just received my mic from an estate sale on eBay in great condition. I’m using it on my Yaesu FT857D. I don’t have Mic EQ on the radio, so I just used the settings you recommended on the mic base. Eventually I will get the Yaesu FT991A which does have Mic EQ settings on the radio. I’m happy with the mic and I get very good audio reports.
I find the MD-100 best suited to the FT450D. Tried with the FT891 but always found better with the MH31 (standard mic). It works well with some Yaesu's and not so well with others. Love it with the 450. Cheers
@@MaxMountainWorld, I use the FT857D as a base and the supplied hand mic is cumbersome to use and rolls around on the desk. The MD-100 fits perfectly and easier to use. I also have a D104 Silver Eagle desk mic. The audio on it is a bit too harsh for me, although I’m not the one who has to listen to it while making QSO’s. Hi Hi. I do like the great audio reports on the MD-100.
Great 2watch you on utube..I have ft450d and I think it's awesome. Have taken it mobile and used 100 amp leisure battery with great success. Max, I enjoyed the video and I have the same setup. I took a look at the settings that you like that seemed to give you the best performance for the md100, however I do have a question. Where are you setting the mic gain with the settings you discussed in your video presentation?

Can you plug the cooler cable straight into the mic (without the base)? I do know there’s a PTT button on the mic itself. The reason I’m interested is for use with FT-817/818.
Hi,max, good video, well explained, but I do think that if you were closer to the microphone 🎤, maybe 10 cm and spoke in a normal volume, I think that your audio will be more powerful, break though the QRM easier, anyhoo that's my 3 cent worth, 73 from Rotterdam. 👍👍
In My "Testing" Especially DX to SDR (Near You Actually!) I found it Louder, Punchier and Fuller Sounding Just Speaking Normally and About 20cm Away, Hence the Comment at the End. Thanks your 3cent worth Much Appreciated. Take Care 73's Thanks
Great video again , can you tell me what that knocking noise is on 26.285 , I’m also getting it on my radio but its over powering any contacts coming through
Normally comes in between 26.200 and 26.400. Called a CODAR and I gather it is a Heterodyne from another frequency and mains 50hz. its been doing that on and off for decades and appears periodically throughout HF. If You Find Out more I'd be interested. Thanks for Your Comment 73's
MaxMountainWorld thanks for the quick reply , iv checked everything on my set up thinking it was something i was causing , hopefully catch you on the radio sometime , 73s from Scotland
Coincidence the quick bit. I go through the comments each evening and try to reply them all. The "WoodPecker" has been happening for Decades. 73's de France Alps
The version i got has only switch on the base, no ptt on the mic and no channel change, looks like they have cut down the build of this desk mic these days. 56CT004
Did you get new or secondhand? I never came across a variant. I am sure it will work well whatever adjustments are or are not. Have fun with it. Cheers
Hi Max. Do you think the modulation is better than with the stock microphone ? MH31 is not clear enough for me . For the moment I do not use the equalizer . Modulation is not bad with my FT 891 but I think it ispossible to improve it. MD100 is not pre-amplified . i am looking for more clarity. Do you have an idea ?
On My FT450D Yes, Definitely (more switchable regulation if nothing else). I found no benefit with the FT891 Though but the 891 has great adjustable settings within its own menus. I use the MH-31 with my FT891 and many operators claim it sound like studio-mic audio. I hope this, together with my videos, helps you there. Many Thanks for this. Take care. Cheers
@@MaxMountainWorld thank you for your answer. According to you the stock microphone is enough with FT891. Did you modify the bandwidth with your FT891 ? Do you have a link for your video concerning this ?

Good Question. At the time of this Video I was "Barefoot" out the back of the box at 90w. and Mic Gain at "Hi".... Now I Overdrive my B550P with peak power 50w (peak voice .20w) for best Audio (like a "Power-Mic" effect) and Mic Gain set at "Mid". I do similar set up now mobile/portable with my FT891. Interesting video and have the same set up as you are using there. Can you tell me what you have your mic gain setting on please

The One Thing I Didn't Mention here. Same as with the MH-31... Set to...."High" (Max!) Thanks Your Comment 73's STAY SAFE GOOD LUCK
The second plug in the back of the mic is so you can plug the mic cord in the other way and use it as an 8 pin mic. The Ft-991 has an 8 pin plug....
Yip!!!
