zz top hip hop head reacts to zz top for the first time gimme all your lovin'
Ironically, the only member without a beard is drummer Frank Beard.
Mike Adams was just about to say the same thing lol
Well, without a belt-line beard lol. Even Frank sports some close-cropped facial hair these days
you beat me to it
Hell yeah!!
Came down here to say this lol
Sorry but when she said she'd met Billy Gibbons once and you asked who's that i was expecting her to say, your father. That would have been so funny lol
That would've been fucking epic lol
MUST OF HAD A ZZ TOP CONDOM
LMAO!! 🤣🤣🤣
Whoahahahahah !
Christ. It just dawned on me that I'm old enough to be his father. WTF?!?! Middle age sucks.
"Sharp dressed man" is like a sequel to this.
I'm not too keen on the 80's stuff, i just really love their 70's stuff its so bluesy
Bro .. you should do a segment called “5 minutes with mom” where your mom tells one of her kick ass rock and roll stories from back in the day!! Your mom is one of the good one man..
When your mom is cooler than you....
The car is Billy Gibbons "Eliminator" rod.
Yeah. The 80's were a fun time to grow of age in.
i was going to say your mom is cooler then you but you already did
I'm 44 years old and I highly recommend you listen to these songs: Sharp Dressed Man,Tush,Tube Steak Boogie,LaGrange,Legs🤘🤘🎸😁💖💖💖💖
Also cheap sunglasses and Jesus just left Chicago
OMG LaGrange....... hell every one of those..
Cheap sunglasses is a personal favourite 🙂
La grange best driving tune ever 🙂
I do my vacuum cleaning on sharp dressed man as loud as possible.😜🤗
“Cheap sunglasses”, Sharped dressed man”, “Jesus just left Chicago “, “just got paid”, “I gotsta get paid” (which is a cover from a rapper that did “25 lighters”) , “woke up w wood”.
ZZ Top is by far my favorite band.
Jesus just left Chicago is so good...
You forgot the best of all.... "cover your rig"
My Heads in Mississippi. Is another one.
There’s two words you’re looking for here Alex. “Talent” and “Heart”.....
"Heart" definitely came first to my mind but you nailed it also with "talent." I am 48 now and the music back in the day always took me to another place. I am so glad I grew up back then with all this treasure of music. It still is as fresh to me now as back then and we are talking 37 years ago. If young kids were smart they should get back on this train and cash in because the demand is out there.
The Boss the movements already started with bands like Greta Van Fleet! I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before more arise
Billy Gibbons played himself in the TV series "Bones", and he had a line that describes his entire attitude. "I have cars, I have guitars, and I have guns... Treat my daughter right, and all you'll ever see are the cars and the guitars."
....They don't call him the "Texas Homewrecker/Heartbreaker for nothing!!"
LOL was hoping other people would remember Billy Gibbons as Angela's father on Bones. Loved that show. Grew up on ZZ Top. Good times (Smiles hee hee hee)
Debbie Epps, I remember that, too!! He is actually a decent actor!!
I didn't follow the show as much as I happened to see an episode if the TV was on, and I'm not a ZZ Top fan above respectful acknowlegement. But I did catch that episode, recognized the guy, and I remember that line because the delivery was intimidating enough to have me cower XD
Loved him as Angies dad!!
It's really cool how close you and your mom are. I miss my mom. Cherish every moment you have with her, bro... 🙂
Indeed. So great to see. And such good advice. :'}
Amen!
Same here, bro! Having a loving mum is awesome, losing her just rips... ah man, it sucks!
Well put. My mom passed 2 years ago, and it sucks.
My mom was murdered when i was 6yrs old in 1981. My dad raised me and my sister and he never remarried so I don't know what that feels like. He's most definitely a fortunate young man.
Being a teenager in the 1970s we had a steady diet of ZZ Top, heart, Led Zeppelin, ac dc, Black Sabbath, rush, ELO, and so many others. We were blessed to be able to hear such music-no auto tune, it just is what it is. Never been to your channel but when you were speaking to maybe your mom took me back where we would leave school in my friends car, smoke weed and drive around with our wipers on for no reason, waving and honking at every stranger we saw. ZZ Top was playing on the 8 track during many of those smoky car trips! Because you gave me a great memory, I’m hitting subscribe. This put a little sweetness into a very bland day.
They are still touring and sound just as good as they did 25 years ago. Can’t wait to see them again in April.
fun zz top fact: 3 guys in the band, 2 have beards, and the 1 guy who doesn't have a beard name is "Frank Beard"
I was just scrolling down to say that!
I was just gonna say that! LOL!
Younger folks have a hard time understanding just how much reverence musicians in the day were given. They were true idols. The whole young culture at the time were completely focused on them for their entertainment (no computers, only 4 channels of tv, movies were for dating). We became emotionally attached to our idols. This is WHY you and the other respond crowd of young people have become so popular. We older fans get the thrill again seeing you enjoy the enormous talent of the very best era in modern music. If you were young at those magical times you would likely be learning to play an instrument seriously. Bands and groups were everywhere. In essence; To be a musician in a group was the number one pinnacle lifestyle choice. There were great players and artists in every region of the country. I saw ZZ Top 3 times live. They were one of the tightest groups I ever saw live.
Well said John!
I was just into the music. If you could put out the highest quality product, which ZZ Top did, you sold tickets,
but mostly, I wanted to listen to the music. We weren't all the same. I understand your point about the music
appreciation today, it is different. Mostly because modern pop music is rank. People nowadays can't listen with
intensity to music because it would bore them to pieces. All music nowadays is background music. For intense listening,
you need original content, and musicianship. Hip Hop is 40 years old, and is listened to by grampa and gramma.
It's what people are raised on, but that doesn't mean it's any good.

@@shawnpuffy INDEED! Right? Now I don't feel so old & kinda crazy when I watch these at 3am~ lol~
I bet your mother has a lot of interesting stories to tell.
Did he seriously say "those bells, those jingles"? Dude, that's a tambourine! Haha!
If your listening to zz top la Grange is an absolute must amazing guitar work and the voice just fits in perfectly.
Alex, great video man! Other ZZ Topp songs you should check out:
Tush
La Grange
Sharp Dressed Man
Cheap Sunglasses
Don’t forget the song Legs in that list.
also I Got the Six
Waitin’ for the Bus
Viva Las Vegas cover is pretty damn good also.
Rough boy.
The great thing about ZZ TOP - if you see them in concert they sound exactly like what would hear listening to thier albums. True musicians , no backing tracks, no lip synching needed. Seen and enjoyed them in concert half dozen times since the late 70's
You gotta listen to the song called La Grange by ZZ Top
facts
Song is ssss compared to gimme all your loving or sharp dressed man
@Alex Hefner, this also being a band from Houston, TX , It's almost sinful that you haven't heard of ZZ Top before this.
When I was living in California, ZZ Top was called"the little band from Texas"
I find it..not believable!
Almost ? Naaa, it is. Sharp dressed Man,legs..... Dude, so many more to do now.
Because it's all instruments.
La Grange TX
The guitarist, Billy Gibbons, was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist.
Slim Brady And Terry Kath. He said that Terry was better than he was.
Billy Gibbons taught Jimmy the slide technique for blues guitar. From there, Jimmy would go on to use his slide technique in quite a few recordings and performances.
They didn’t try to hard , they just played music.
I know what's missing in music today.
Passion
Heart
Talent
That's a start.
John Lee Pettimore III A lack of creativity they do what the record companies want them to do instead of what the artist wants to do
you forgot beard.
That's what I was going to say, Creativity, and add Originality.
Originality and inspiration. Soul.
YES!! Classic rock!! If you want to hear more ZZ Top listen to La Grange
Jump in the wayback machine, brother. Tush, La Grange, Cheap Sunglasses, Waitin' on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, Tube Snake Boogie, Party on the Patio, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, TV Dinners, Thug, Sleeping Bag, Stages, Rough Boy, Velcro Fly, My Head's in Mississippi, Doubleback... essential ZZ.
As a fellow Houstonian, I refuse to believe this is the first time you've heard ZZ Top. You might as well be from Oklahoma.
Time to turn in your Texan card bud.
The realism is even more evident when you see them live and they get the same sound out of three players. They're truly amazing. 🤙
"There's something about music back in the day that is a lost art. Like, there is some aspect about it that is not found in any music today."
That would be musical talent.
real talent
ZZ Top loved their old tube type amplifiers, probably still do, the tube amp gives that raspy tone.
PS your Mom is rad, have her on more.
Everyone had their own style back in the day, scorpions , metallica, guns and Rose's, zztop etc.. today alot of bands are mirroring each other sounds. That's where the authenticity comes from back then, they didn't care if anyone like it as long as they( the band) did...:)
One of the greatest things about ZZ Top is that there are very few bands in the world capable of sounding so incredibly good with just one guitar (ZZ Top, Green Day, and just a few others). But Billy Gibbons is a genius
Fun fact: Billy Gibbons was Jimi Hendrix's favourite guitarist.
and all the cars in their videos were His.
He could tell that while Billy was only 20 years old when Jimi died? :O
@@666Tormentor666 ZZ Top used to play shows with Jimi when they were starting out
That's an old myth. There's no source of Jimi saying that.
@@jonathanhenderson9422 I dunno. If Alice Cooper says it there may be some truth to it
Do Tush, Sharped Dress Man and La Grange!
LA Grange!!! Yes...
Not seen anyone mention "Got Me Under Pressure" yet. That's good Top tune.
They are still killin it today. In their 70s. I love em.
Fun Fact ZZTop Stared in and one of there songs "Doubleback" featured in the film Back to the Future Part III
If I recall they were the band at the party in BTTF 3.
Funniest thing about ZZ-top is that the drummers last name is Beard
Ironically he is the one without a beard
Yeah Bee I’m glad I looked at comments because I was gonna say the same thing!
Justin Garrett I was also going to mention your comment too!
Taste in music changes, but one thing that never changes is that a 'hit' today will always sound great whenever it gets revived.
Dude! Awesome commentary on this. You nailed it! Going to see these 80’s bands in concert was F’ing wild! You are correct - they did write and play their own music! I grew up in the 80’s, like your mom, and it was the best decade hands down. Thank you so much for your appreciation!
You’ve got to listen to “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” by them!!!
if you watched Back to the Future 2, you've seen/heard them. They cameo-ed as the band that played during the town festival in the old west.
Sorry but that was 3 not 2 haha 😂
@@dustinwainwright6429 You're right, I did get them mixed up.
They played "Double back"
💗 Love your reactions!
I'm 54 & for my 21st birthday, my boyfriend took me to see ZZ Top in Pittsburgh. What a great time! You definitely need to react to "Cheap Sunglasses". I also agree with the other suggested songs, but I wanted to push my favorite tune by this awesome band 😉
PS. I really like "Thug" & "Waitin' on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" too!
for ZZ Top "Legs" was a great track, and if you ever watched 'Back to the future part 3 they had a cameo and then latest track was featured at the end credits
I love ZZ TOP! TEXAS ROCK! Alex Hun, those aren't bells. It's a tambourine.😁 Fun fact the only member of the three without a Beard's last name is BEARD! Fun fact #2) Jimmy Hendrix was a big fan of Billy Gibbons! I agree that music in the past is more genuine. This is the music I listen to on long trips.
You NEED to listen to ZZ TOP “legs”.
I'm so happy that song made you so happy. 😃 I grew up with ZZ's music and it just makes me feel alive. If you want more ZZ Top, do a reaction video to "My Head's in Mississippi". It's the bomb.
Billy Gibbons is known as one of the best guitarist's in Rock n roll
Billy G is mad respect among everyone in the music buisness. He's a legend. Saw them live in Sweden 2007. So effin epic, how 3 dudes on a stage can do so much amazing noise is incredible
Your moms awesome.
Loved the intro with Mom...this really took me back. Yeah, the early 1980's were a great time. ZZ Top, Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Iron Maiden...most teeenage boys lived in their parents garage building muscle cars and hung out with buddies wearing out tapes in the cassette player and movies in the VCR like "Two Lane Blacktop", "Vanishing Point", Hollywood Knights", "Repo Man" and "Heavy Metal". Your social network were you town buddies and parties. If you didn't like your job, you could quit, go down the street and have another one by the end of the day. It was just a more genuine time overall. Thanks for the wayback machine.
IMHO the difference between music "back in the day", I"m talking 70s and 80s mostly, and today is heart and feeling. With the evolution of technology, people have actually over-analyzed music and rhythm. Somebody had a brilliant idea, that with a computer, they could make every beat land perfectly on time, therefore the music would be "perfect".
The problem with that is that music should be able to breathe. It becomes too mechanical when it's perfect. We are human. The time, pace and rhythm drifting a couple of milliseconds either way gives the music life. It's almost undetectable, but it's there and it changes the feeling.
Also nowadays, everything has to fit into a formula or the industry won't buy it. If it doesn't check all of the boxes and sound like everything else, the music companies won't sign them, and the radio stations won't play them.
There are several young, up and coming bands that have figured out the flaw in the current system. A revolution is coming, and good music is coming back. You just have to be willing to explore and listen.
And then you make the music you want to with all your heart and people call you a ripoff or poser. Difficult times man...
Greta Van Fleet fills that void!
ua-cam.com/video/aJg4OJxp-co/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/S2pa-Eb4wLE/v-deo.html
The Struts are great too. I was 13 in 1970. What made the music so incredible...talent and actually learning the craft instead of computer generated crap. I have very eclectic taste and there are only a handful of bands/singer songwriters that I have a hard time tolerating. I don't relate to Rap at all. Though there is an Eminem song I like. I still check out newer bands hoping to find something good. Tame Impala is new to me and I love it! Greta Van Fleet and The Struts. I've seen The Struts twice. Always hoping great rock will return!!
@@shawnpuffy I'm not a huge fan of Greta Van Fleet, but I greatly appreciate the fact they are bringing this generation's attention to rock music. I'll tell you a band you have probably never heard of. They are three sisters from Mexico called The Warning. I'll just leave this right here.
ua-cam.com/video/yV8gpIrIR9s/v-deo.html
Watch the first 5 minutes, you'll probably stay for the whole hour+show :)
I love living over here in western south dakota, I always get to see a ton of concerts over the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and I've been able to see ZZ Top live about 10 or so times
Such a classic. My mom got me into ZZ Top, and I'm the rock fan and metal head I am today because of it. I definitely owe my music tastes to them.
sharp dressed man- zz top
you gotta listen to it
These guys put on a great show and Billy is just a hell of a guitar player. They are all 3 really tight musicians.
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Eliminator (Car)!!!! This was a popular jam when I was growing up. Thank you a million times over.
Fun fact : ZZtop are in back to the future 3
Alex react to ZZ top sharp dressed man and have a dope ass day my brother
His guitar playing is extraordinary. That’s for sure. His guitar tone is second to none. The album this is off of is excellent from start to finish. Even better are their albums from the 70s, especially Tres Hombres. The song Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers is my favorite song of theirs. It’s hard rock bordering on metal from way back in the early 70s.
What an awesome intro!!!! Getting a story from your mom about ZZ TOP was awesome! That should be a regular thing!!!!
ZZ Top sharp dressed man
"She's Got LLEEGGS!" is your next listen, please.
Also, those bell things were tambourines. :)
"Sharp Dressed Man" does it for me.
ZZtop ...Was so fun back when MTV was music vids, that you couldn't wait for the next new video especially when they linked new vids to the songs on the album. But still love'em!
Legs is my favorite ZZ Top song. I saw them live two years ago at Arizona Bike Week motorcycle rally. They played Saturday night I was towards the front of the stage. They rocked even in their 70s.
"My Heads in Mississippi" is another great song by them
Absolutely !!
Glad you're discovering ZZ Top, their music is like super fun party/driving music with a sweet blues groove.
Also your mom is awesome, I'm 45 but is there any chance she would adopt me? JKJK, great video bud!
Some other songs to check out:
Sharp Dressed Man
Tush
Sleeping Bag
Viva Las Vegas
Legs
Gun Love
Want a good starting point check out their greastest hits album.
Love your mom's story about meeting Billy Gibbons! I also met him in Buffalo 1983, Backstage passes won on a radio contest have me the privilege! Great down to earth dude!!
One of the ZZ TOP fellas was in Finland and just started to jam with a street performer and played his guitar for a while. Such cool, very awesome.
That was the best into 💙
Artists back then wrote their lyrics, they didn't have a slew of song writers.
Elvis Presley didn’t write a single song in his life, so yeah. It’s nothing new to have songwriters. Same goes for loooooads of older stuff. Motown had teams of songwriters, for instance.
Oooooooooh! My brother! I’m 49, and I love it when I see u see an old vid or hear a song, and more over dig it. U rock rock man.🤘🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
One of the best concerts! Much fun because you know all of the songs! Billy is an amazing guitarist.
Sharp Dressed Man remaster lad. You have not experienced ZZ Top until you have heard that
yes, the remastered version has the Insane Bass, dam.....
“Blue jeans blues” by ZZ Top is my favorite.
The first few guitar riffs at the start give me goosebumps every time I hear them.
That was the BEST intro I've ever cone across in a reaction video!
Give your mom a hug for me, because moms deserve all the hugs they can get!
React to zztop: la granga, Sharp dressed man
That interaction between you and your Mom was pretty nice to see in the beginning! Also, this is your first time listening to ZZ Top?! Well I guess I can’t be too shocked because they played around the time that Led Zeppelin did like your dear old Mom did! Anyway, I wish we could see more of that interaction with your Mom in the foreseeable future just like I’m looking forward to more ZZ Top reactions like this one in the near future! You two keep on rocking, guys!👍👍👍
Yes, months later, those BEARDS are the magic of ZZ Top... They are great.
The first time my DAD invited my to my first ever live concert.. It was ZZTop..
And I invited my dad to ZZTop conccert 20+ years aftere the first one..
Because of ZZTop.. They are great. Billy Gibbons on the lead guitar.....
I haven't even made it to the part where you are reacting to the song but I am "liking" the video for your mom's story alone!! How lucky you two are to have such an open and close relationship.
Now, try ZZ Top - La Grange and then Equilibrium - Snüffel. You'll know why.
They were in Back to the future 3. Great Texas band!
Benn on their concert arounf 1995 in Ljubljana Slovenia, was 14-15 at the time and one of the first bigger concerts for me at the time, great experience, been hooked to rock and rock`n roll since then... :-) great memories
Sharp dressed man and under pressure are my two faves! love Zz top
"Music in the day seems to be a lost art"
Yes, because it was original, not sampled or computer generated pop crap.
Nothing wrong with computer-generated, but computer corrected yes. (I mean deadmau5 is awesome "electronic music" ;), Marshmellow anyone?) But the computer corrected, time-aligned, etc... yea that is why it sounds so fake and bad, not to mention all this music of today is written by studio musicians and writers instead of bands and the artists within).
@@christopherjunkins Correct and I suppose I should have elaborated further as you have to distinguish the thought. Thanks for the added commentary to more specify my own thoughts!!
@@christopherjunkins Then you should try at least Band-Maid, Scandal, Fate Gear, Yousei teikoku and X-Japan (they're all from Japan). The band members all write partially or completely their own songs or have some songs that are written by artists from other bands.
@@renefrijhoff2484 when I get the chance next, off to work soon. But yea, what's really wrong with this world atm are all these so called "artists" that are nothing but "vocalists" at best but almost never, or even never, write their own works. E.G. : Taylor Swift or Britney Spears types. Always stuff written by other artists and recorded by studio musicians and then they just go in and sing the melody as written by that other person or set of people.... no real authentic originality. Then it gets corrected, time aligned, and pitch shifted to hell and back. And if it's rap they go into melodyne and gets warped to hell because they can't even sing... yea, that's what's wrong with today's music.
Human skills, human groove, this is ensitment to fuck Texas style!
Mom:"doing illegal things..."
Alex:"Smoking weed?!"
Mom:"Yeah..."
thejoker8625 I cannot even imagine driving around smoking some weed and then going back to an algebra II class. Holy F***........
From Toronto. Yes you get it kid. My Son is 22 and I introduced him to 60s and 70s music like this and he is introducing it to his 20s crowd which is keeping this great music being shared.
For three guys with guitars and a set of drums they made some great tunes!
Those “bells” are a tambourine. Lol
Alex, "Gots Ta Get Paid" should be your next ZZ Top reaction. 30 years after the "Eliminator" album was released, and just as bad ass. ZZ Top is such great feel good music.
Another fact about Gotsa Get Paid is that Billy Gibbons took DJ DMD's 1989 rap hit "25 Lighters," and recast it as a heavy blues rock tune. One of the rare times that Billy didn't record his own purely original song.
When they perform this live, they usually open up with "Give the drummer some, just a lil bit right here". Billy is ofc talking about giving Frank some lovin` for this opening drums. Living legends, that still seems very much down to earth. Something certain self proclaimed divas and such can learn a thing or 2 about. (Most artists out there today dont reach theese guys to the ankles)
ZZ Top is by far one of the best bands ever can never get tired of them. That is cool your mom met one of them.
Gotta react to Sharp Dressed man by ZZ Top I hear that song in movies and tv shows gotta react to that song next Alex
AFTER THE BURIAL- Lost in the Static. Please. It's been long enough!
Goddamn Right!
Alex please!! This dude (and many more of us) are BEGGING
Just woke up this saturday morning, saw this video and now smiling like an idiot. Love your videos and love that positivity you bring out. Keep doing what you doing. Much love from Finland.
Dude those guys are in back to the future part three how can you not miss these guys !!!
Dude, just go watch Dazed and Confused and react to all the music as it plays!
Some bands I'd love you to react (again):
Avenged Sevenfold: "Exist", "Welcome to the family", "MIA" (and all the rest if their songs XD)
Gloryhammer: "Gloryhammer", "The siege of Dunkeld", "Angus McFive", "Rise of the chaos wizards" (and again not only those, but
those are a priority)
Nanowar of Steel: "Norwegian reggaeton"
Also I don't know have you listened to Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they have quite nice songs which also have some rather interesting videos: "Can't stop", "Dark Necessities", "Dani California", "Otherside", "Fortune Faded", "Go Robot", "Desecration smile"
props for interacting and being nice to your mom! respect kid
Awww.....that's so sweet. Your mum seems so cool.
