Nice one . The Tri-ang B12 scrubs up rather well . I still have my 1973 BR Black one doing a turn on my railway . She doesn’t look out of place . Just bought a Wrenn Sir Nigel in blue as one of the locos I wanted as a boy but could never afford . I like your black one . The bigger wheels make all the difference. Nice video again . Great just watching the trains go round in a lovely setting
Hi Russell, I believe some B12s were allocated to Scotland weren't they? Many thanks for your informative comments and observations. All the best! Graeme
Hi, Thank you indeed for your comment and appreciation. Delighted you enjoyed the session. I thought I'd try something a little different this time instead of the more usual 'apple green' and BR green!
I was lucky enough to see Sir Nigel Gresley in wartime black last year, before they painted it blue. Personally I think it looked very smart. Without the valances, it seemed to suit it.
Yes I concur, the A4 did look very smart indeed in black livery. There is a general consensus that the A4s' look was improved by the removal of the valances although I imagine that it would be difficult to envisage the original batch in the stunning light grey and charcoal livery without them. Imagine the effect these locos had on the general public when they first hit the rails in 1935! I was on 60007 in May on the 'Welsh Marches'. The whole ensemble was a joy to behold. The A4 was in the early lined out BR blue livery matched with (mostly) BR Mk1 Saphos stock in crimson and cream...which of course was the intended 'look' for the newly created BR. It was fabulous!! I have the Hornby 60007 in BR blue and Bachmann Mk1s in crimson and cream. I'll have to put them up sometime!
