- CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman speaks to Level 1 participants on Sept. 3, 2017, in Aromas, California.
“We sit collectively in unique possession of an elegant solution to the world’s most vexing problem. And it may be so elegant that it’s optimal,” Glassman says.

Beautifully simplistic. Take responsibility for your fitness. The fact that eighty-six percent of our health care costs is going towards chronic disease saddens me. The system is being overloaded by people who trash their bodies and expect medicine to fix the problem. The obvious solution is to teach people how to eat better and become more active. Thank you for this message.
I'm a physician/crossfitter for 5+ years. My Center for Prevention is connected to health care providers who prevent heart attack, stroke and Type 2 Diabetes/prediabetes. Now 61 years old, I am grateful for the benefits to my health and the health of my family and patients I've inspired to join Crossfitinstinct/Longevity. There are pieces to the prevention puzzle that Crossfit alone will not address, that optimal medical care that exceeds standard guideline based treatment can address. Combining the efforts of the Crossfit swim coaches and physicians trained in optimal prevention will save even more from the ravages of chronic disease, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke and dementia. It will challenge the industries that treat these chronic diseases (without curing them) but their opportunity should pass to a more cost effective paradigm of addressing the root causes and prevention.

Love this ever since I stopped eating processed carbs my performance has increased tremendously !!!!!
Everything he said is fine, except how Crossfit is somehow uniquely able to solve the problem. I love Crossfit but the problems he mentioned can also solved by less intense and cheaper alternatives (walking, hiking, jogging, bootcamps, cycling, etc). Part of the DNA of Crossfit is competition between members, chasing PRs, and technical movements. These things aren't necessary for a majority of the population to be healthy and can be dangerous if done incorrectly.
You said it: "a part of CrossFit" but remember what CrossFit is (CVFMHI) so it doesnt matter what aproach you have to CF, it is inclusive, what matter is that the principal issue is get people off the couch and get them moving, remember that the difference between your granpa and an olympic athlete needs is not in type but in level.

It is unique in its ability for being able to get peoples butts through the doors, and facilitate an environment in which people are able to push theirselves in order to most effectively reap the rewards.
I miss Greg! 💪
This is how medical doctors need to be educated. People in this country know that they're going to be taken care of no matter what they do to their bodies. And the real problem is pharmaceutical companies have infiltrated Academia to teach medical professionals that medications are okay, opioids are okay!! I know this to be true, because I am a medical professional and when I was in college they taught us to offer opioids to patients and educate them that it's okay to take them that they won't become addicted if thier pain is real!!

chrisgblues get off the couch but most elite atheltes eat plenty of carbs as do the healthiest cultures on earth
13:45 "Crossfit is the answer" I thought Crossfit was a fitness regime not a nutritional plan
Nutrition is part of CrossFit.
Fitness built upon foundation of nutrition
Not a criticism... just an observation... I've never seen a video of Greg Glassman... I thought he would be in really great shape... He doesn't really appear to be. It's interesting that a guy who revolutionized working out... probably needs to. :)
You know he has polio right?
Furthermore, he's spent millions of dollars fighting the chronic disease scam and taking on big sugar and soda.
"He had polio as a child and used gymnastics to regain his strength. In high school, a bad dismount left him with a permanent limp."
www.cbsnews.com/news/crossfit-creator-greg-glassman-60-minutes/
Polio
True, however environmental situations can exacerbate chronic conditions, such that the person with a chronic disease will have worse outcomes, in kinetic accidents, microbial infections and certain toxic exposures. This leaves the genetic and chromosomal conditions (which can be relatively rare) as stand alone conditions and some of these benefit from better physical and metabolic conditioning.
Mr Glassman is an extraordinary marketer and highly successful businessman who has added much to the popularity of regular exercise. He tends to use a lot of scientific and medico-technical terms which undoubtedly bolster his aura of expertise. What are his formal educational attainments? Thank you.
The Disney channel..
Zero!!!! They've probably banned that word from the comments
The three S syndrome: satiety, sedentary and sanitary. When we live too sanitary, we run the risk of greater Th2/Th1 ratio and end up with an allergy to everything.
Well...I do recommend washing your hands after wiping.
"...so fucking hot..." a technical term used in the trade, seems to be missing from the transcript.
What's up with those videos lately? Why is Crossfit® trying so hard to push a low-carb diet? NONE of the top crossfit athletes actually are on a low-carb diet (because... it doesn't make any sense). I love crossfit, but those videos make it seem like a sect. I'm glad he didn't start the speech with "I put my balls on the line today." like the other clown of the video that was posted on this channel recently (an orthopaedic surgeon(!) who spreads nonsense about nutrition, and has been called out by proper nutritionists)
Crossfit works very week for me, but I am absolutely against low carb diets. It’s stupid.
low carbs vs high protein diets can be mistaken.... Anyone doing Crossfit should be taking a protein supplement for many reasons...
So you quit fb & instagram?
The problem is birth. No birth, no problems. Everything else is just entertainment and business. Peace out..
9:10 here is where he took a fall relating Floyd 19 to the pandemic comparison.
Can someone get this guy to stop 60 year old Bart Simpson. Really hard to take him serious.
What a real sadness to hear the "bad parents" comment when Downs was mentioned. They are 'amazing parents'.
For a thorough and extensive response to the low carb idea, from a nutritional science perspective, check out this video series: ua-cam.com/video/QImWYirF0es/v-deo.html
Awesome Guy .........

I thought it would've been world hunger but I suppose you're talking about first world problems.

Good point but, the United States, with 79.4 million obese adults in 2015, shows it is a big problem.
clearly didn't listen to the talk. This is about world hunger, people with an abundance of food are starving because their food does not have the nutrients they need, instead it has inflammatory addictive fillers. The sugar industry plays a massive part in he condition of countries without resources for food.
Similar to all those obese workers in the healthcare industry that go out and take smoke breaks; those with the knowledge do not always apply it completely.
Good to hear swearing for a change
So is there a way I can open and shut my car door faster? Like a kipping door open shit method? I figure that'd be good at yalls next crossfit Baby weight to infinity jerkfest.
lmfaooo pin this comment!
so this guy is teaching us health but he is out of shape apparently. Am I supposed to take his words seriously?
So if Froning and Fraser supported this lecture, it would be ok? I tend to focus on the info of a seminar rather than the appearance of the lecturer. Arnie's not exactly a picture of strength anymore but his message still rings true. Too many fitness influencers out there with drugs and cosmetic surgery propping up their argument to suggest that appearance reflects integrity I'm afraid.
Whose advice would you prefer?.
leigha laughlin Will that make a difference to how you decide? I'm terrible at showing people how to think.
He had Polio bro, what do you expect.
Never gonna be a crossfitter apparently. I'm gonna be an athlete
instead and have good performance while EATING CARBS LIKE A HUMAN.
Most people are unhealthy
Dude doesn't look too healthy himself. Sticks for legs and a beer gut. Maybe he should eat some carbs.
Rintala He had polio as a young child then suffered a serious gymnastics injury as a young adult which causes him to have a severe limp. But hey, keep posting your ignorant uneducated comments!
All those fat coaches in the NFL probably don't know a damn thing about football either. /s
Doenst look healthy, clearly damned joints, small arms and legs. Isn't that the goal of crossfit?
He has polio
Exercise has its place but you can't outrun a bad diet so no crossfit isn't the answer, cardio isn't the answer, strength training isn't the answer, yoga isn't the answer...... stop overeating is the answer but no one makes money from that message.
Good nutrition is part of the CrossFit methodology
Fitness built upon foundation of nutrition
No curse please. You just ruined your message with one slang cursed Word. Turn to God repent and realize all you are talking about bout is temporary at best
If you want to get a lifelong injury , CrossFit is the sport for you !
He's teaching his "Floyd-19" workout.
