I played the heck out of Diablo when it released, and after gaming for over 3 decades i have to admit NOTHING replicates the feel and the ambience of this game. On a side note, i couldn't get into Diablo 2, most of the dark and horror ambience was gone and i just couldn't enjoy it fully.
Diablo 1 & Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness were my first PC games ever played in 1996. I had an Atari 2600 & then a Nintendo before that but when a friend introduced me to Warcraft I never played console again. I used to play Warcraft & D2 on Battlenet & also use direct linkage cables to play friends in Warcraft. People have no idea how spoiled they are today with Game Variety & P2P Gaming being so easily accessible. Back in the late 90s & early 2000s PCs were not cheap & most people used onboard graphics. My first GPU to play WOW was GTX 720 with Ryzen FX 8350. It's crazy just how far graphics & processing has come in relatively short period.
The mace he found at 17:30 is quite rare and actually the best melee weapon for a rog if u choose so on higer diffs in deeper levels - the dmg modifier applies to your TOTAL CHAR DMG (=x 3), not just weapon dmg. There are several uniques with that modifier in the game.
There are reasons not to melee on a rogue in this game: slower attack speed and less hit recovery compared to the warrior. Rogues only attack quickly with bows. Hit recovery sometimes prevents enemy attacks from interfering with your attacks (or spells). I always play the sorcerer when I play Diablo 1.
Played it on PC as a kid and when I went to my friends house after school we played it on his PlayStation 1 as well. Felt like an endless game back then.
Meeting the Butcher for the first time in this game was probably my greatest memory of game scaring the Hell out of me! Hahaha! Scariest part of the game! 😂

Glad to see you eventually used magic books. I am telling you that full length on your VODs channel is painful to watch at the start. When I was a noob I made less mistakes... hence the pain. But yes this game actively tries to kill you unlike some games where the challenge is low enough to beat in your sleep. My first play through I chose warrior. and until the caves I was good... some struggle but not horrible. Well Hell broke me as I got in a death trap of my own making. See I thought I had town scrolls and didn't. So with false confidence I ran to the next floor a couple times instead of dealing with mobs. I was thinking delve a bit use a portal and restock... except I had no portal and had last saved while running from foes. So I started playing my first Rogue... rest as they say is history. Never was uncareful again about escape stuff. Always have scrolls; always start with doubling your coins a lot to have top tier gear out the gate. Game provides the rest.
play nightmare man, I haven't seen a first timer play through all 3 difficulties. You missing out on cool rare gear and that artwork of said rare gear.
didnt see all of it but do u know u can shoot without targetting by holding shift and attack into nowhere? this way u can aim ahead on moving targets. ;)

I have so many childhood memories of sucking shit at the game until I understood more about it, so wholesome to see someone going through that process again. (And dang it, Constricting Ring AND Civerb's Cudgel, in one game?! Those are two really sought-after uniques, especially the first one. Sorcerers get more out of it, but even rogues might put on mana shield and go with CR. Civerb's Cudgel, eh, it depends, but in hell it's interesting.) EDIT: Oooooh, you're using DevilutionX or sth like it... original game did not have Shift+click for moving potions to belt, you'd be dead in Lazarus/Diablo fights... :P (And also you couldn't hold down to keep attacking, one attack meant one click. People did make outside tools like Diablo Clicker, but DevilutionX and such just lets you do that by default as one of the hugest QoL improvements.)
@guzu If you have never played Diablo 2 before, I´m wondering if you will realize that WoW is mechanically a really slow Version of Diablo 2?! Let me know!
What version of DIABLO 1 is this? Im currently replaying it on GOG hellfire edition and it doesn't look as good as this amd i also noticed the loot drops are labled but in my version there not and the loot is hard to spot because you have to manually find it and hover the mouse cursor on it to identify 😂 help
If you look up "devilutionX" some mega nerds have rebuilt the game for modern systems. You just have to download the right playable version and add the mpq file from the original game (which you can pull out of the game if you own it or buy from GOG)

If I remember the hit changes are reduced if you use anything other than bow, I'm a new player so it might be not accurate
