    My old director used to love to say, “half of acting, is REacting”

    A good way to start is to watch this video in full screen, so that you don't start going through the comments or other video recommendations, and pay complete attention to him and what he's saying. The music might be a bit distracting, but that is basically what the challenge will be. Very subtly, this video itself is a test on how well you can listen 😄

    The autopilot explanation made a lot of sense to me. I spent 5 years in the military and 4 years in flight training and almost everything you say is an automatic/predetermined response. So, knowing that is my background I know what I need to work on.

    I've watched other acting classes. Yours is the most helpful
    Example: I watched your self tape one, then I watched a casting director on self tape she brought out interance and exit in scene and said exactly what you said. Thanks for this information and making it easy...

    After 30 years ( yes I will be 30 on less then a week) I have decided to become a little more selfish and go for what I have dreamed of my whole life. I’m starting acting classes next week. I’m excited but nervous about this new experience. My question to you is, will having a mixed of European (Polish) accent and a NY accent, limit me greatly? Should I take classes to rid of my accent?

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  4 роки тому +5

      In some ways your accent will actually benefit you more. Depending on the project you are auditioning for, they may find you more interesting because of your accent mixture. It can also help you stay memorable for those casting directors in future auditions. With that being said, it would still be a good idea to learn a general standard American accent, because there will be roles you audition for which may not want an accent for the part and it’d be nice if you had the ability to turn it on and off (when need be). All in all, don’t worry about your accent, it’s part of who you are and will have benefits throughout your career, but I’d suggest also having the ability to do a standard American accent for when those auditions come up. Being able to do both will give you a bigger pool of audition opportunities.
      Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any other further questions :)

    @The Actors Academy I have my 1st (not self taped) audition what should I expect for example am I suppose to look at the reader when I preform? Also I always try to memorize the slides/scene, but you don’t do the audition memorized? And how much can I move in a live audition? Thank you so much I appreciate everything you are doing!

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  5 років тому +12

      Hey congratulations man! I’d suggest looking into my playlist on auditioning, here on the channel. You can see which videos will work you best to answer your questions more in depth.
      When you’re there, they will have you slate and read the scene. You will look and communicate with the reader. Don’t look into the camera (Check out my self tape videos). For movement you’ll get an idea of how much room you have from my self tape videos. You can always ask them as well (how much room you have), but treat it like real life. Don’t over do it. If anything you’ll movements will be slightly smaller, depending how they frame you (again you can ask them how much frame you have to move or watch my video on self tapes as examples). You should get your lines memorized. Keep your scene in hand, just Incase you need it, but you should be memorized. It’ll be easier for you to do better work and you’ll look my prepared (if you need assistance memorizing, I’ve made a vid on that as well).
      Hope that helps! Best of luck!!

    Best acting class is having a girlfriend that you don't love. She may be beautiful but her personality is trash, you want something from her, you know... but you should act like you love her in order to get what you want. Tell her fake stories and act like they are real, like you have been really through hard things, learn how to induce different emotions....if she believes all the bull$hit you say, that means that you are a good actor and you are ready to take a role 👌. At least that's what has worked for me. Dont ever take roles in theatres if you want to grow in the industry of movies. Theatre actors=Good actor wasted. In conclusion, acting classes are the worst mistake you can make...life is an acting class where you should act in order to survive, the real you is only when you get home or when you stay with your best friends....when you take a role consider it like it is the real you and feel the emotions, try to have empathy for the role you are playing and you will be the best actor 😉.
    Now you are probably thinking why should people trust me for what I said in this comment. You have absolutely no reason to trust me. Try what I said and thank me later 😉.
