Vasoline overtime will eat away at your uniform. I have a friend who used it and a few years later his jacket is falling apart. Vasoline is not intended for clothing. It also often time rubs off on the wools which can ruin and stain it. The only way that is tried and true, safe, and looks great, is any sort of waxed based treatment. The best and most popular one is Otter wax. Its made for clothing and works great. It also will naturally build up on creases when you appply it giving it a white residue look. The only downside of this way is that it is a little pricey. But buy and cry once!
Great video, thank you! I hope you see this because im always trying to track down decent ones, but where did you get the screaming eagle patches? Especially the center one. That's such a detail that too many guys don't pay enough attention to, even after giving all this attention and money to the jumpsuit itself.
You’re absolutely correct. And it’s one of if not the biggest draw of attention to on the jacket itself. My patches came from Green Army Productions out of the Netherlands. However, unfortunately they are no longer manufacturing them. My new patch supplier is Stand In The Door 1944. You can find them on the website of the same name. Keith (the owner) is a friend and airborne team member and his attention to detail is outstanding. Give his gear a try.
Would this method be easier than the otter wax method? I've been mulling a CC2 treatment on my airsoft gear, but here in Japan I don't have access to heat guns for the otter wax method, and don't have a yard to hang up my jacket outside for a week for this method either.
Second pattern HBT fatigues and buckle boots. Khakis in the initial occupation of Japan and M43s in the colder months as time went on. Steel helmets with a stencil 11 A/B on the front (daring occupation) and the famous 'Swing Cap' when the helmet is not worn!
Hey mate just wondering, because I’m a little confused haha, the last of the 3 jackets, has that one had vasso/powder treatment? Because the second one looks a lot darker? Had the third one just lightened up over time and use?
Brilliant informative video Sir!
Much appreciated !!

Can you do video on the Uniforms of the 11th Airborne Division? They served in the Pacific and had tropical uniforms.
Great idea !! I would love to get involved with an 11th impression.

Yep !! You’re absolutely right. It’s lightened up over time with use and wear but it did look like the middle jacket two years ago.
@@71RossStudios cheers dude I appreciate it 👍
Can I use a hair dryer to speed up the process?
@@RangerBrian-if3nt absolutely !! I use a hair dryer when applying otter wax and snow seal to my roughout boots so go for it.
I heard deck sealant works better, but is hella expensive.
It’s an option - however it will also make your uniform stiff like cardboard and increase the chances of tearing (mainly crotch area of trousers).
Yeah I would just opt for your method.@@71RossStudios
