Great video and some very good tips! Totally agree, natural aging is the best - but as you say, sometimes one has to to what one has to do. Keep up the good work, best regards from Norway ☺
Do you guys ever part with or sell any of the relics you find? Would love to maybe get some for my collection. Not easy to get that stuff here in the states.
Learned a few tricks here! I was scared the coffee would leave too much of a dark stain but now I'm confident going into it. Also, I use a cheese grater (on the finer side) to add some wear to high stress areas and I used a scrubbing pad to gently weather the snap buttons
want to know the best way? Just put the stuff on and go run around in the woods and dirt. No reason to do anything else. Just use it. Everyone was given uniforms and gear that could ahave been new and thats how it got weathered back during the war.
I’m not going to argue with that because you are exactly right, however this is a good option if you get some gear days before the event and for some reason it has to be weathered (leach is rare) but I have run into that problem before. Essentially, yes, you are right. That is the best way.
I have actually been guilty of that too so I bought two sets. One to keep clean and then a weathered one just to have both for whatever the event calls for. If it is a parade or living history I usually use the clean one and for more field events or tacticals I use the weathered one.
I wish I could wear originals but not everyone can and I just get that cringe on trashing originals when I do it lol. But no one can argue that it isn’t right.
@@HistorySavior1941 I can see that. I mostly do it on the grails gear side because it’s almost impossible to find anything original (other than jackets) that actually fit lol

Thanks for watching my friend! Yes natural aging is best. I really do hate shoe Polish but it does yield nice results.

I’m glad this helped and a cheese grater is a great idea!!!

Awesome video
Thank you Mrs. Marilyn
Hang it out on the line to dry, or let it out in the weather
I know I’m guilty of having to clean of uniforms

😆👍
I just wear absolutely trashed original surplus. It’s cheap and it always looks the part

True! Original field gear is one thing I used to use but I got tired of having to repair it all the time.
