Fuzz, I think you just became my hero. So many other videos talk on and on about bar clearance but if you haven't got the height, I don't care what you do over the bar, you're not going to make it. I spent 15 years coaching high jumpers and I have always been able to tell three strides out whether a person will make it or not.
I can't honestly say "always"--but certainly >90% of the time, I could tell whether someone would clear the bar well before s/he ever left the ground. I think a key is that the jumper *stay in the curve* on those last few steps. As the bar goes up, it's very tempting to try to do "something special" to get more height...and that often means that the athlete steps out of the curved approach that s/he ordinarily uses. Stepping out of the curve almost always produces a miss.
lease2coach1 Yeah, that's pretty close. Probably your way of saying basically the same thing. Any variation in stride pattern is usually a confidence thing. Sometimes I can tell by the look on their face.
lease2coach1 Yeah, that's it. If you saw the women's high jump in Rio, there was plenty of that. People have criticised the event because nobody jumped 2.00 metres but the conditions were a lot tougher than most people realise, with a slick surface which was drier on the left than on the right. It was a seriously ego-bruising competition. Those who held their nerve did well.
this is the best channel on UA-cam👍 this channel helped me succeed to state in triple jump, due to their video about triple jump with Christian taylor😄 thank you so much guys, I love this channel, it's the best one their is👍
I took the less common left sided approach. It's hard to jump off your less dominant leg! I dont know a single person who could jump well off either leg but it would be so cool to witness it.
amazing! I qualified high jump to Gryfyths it was hard my high score is 1.30 I'm in grade 5 and I'm scared to death. my goal is 2.00 hope I get that👍 by using these tactics. it inspired me so much!!
I was having a talent 2 year ago and keen interest in high jump but becz of lack of facilities .no support of any coach I left this game by by high jump
This looks so satisfying and cool but you would almost never use this In basketball Lemme just dunk on you like this This used to be to see the highest jumper now it's the best technique and maybe the highest jumper
jksdfgyjfhgud ....well two feet and four inches is most likely 2 feet shorter than you and even though you're not five and it's stupid for me to respond, I would hope, however old you actually are, you can jump 2'4
To think that an engineer thought of the best way to clear the jump and has become an eternal technique in high jump is legendary.
Such a great showcase video. Their grasp on the run up is really inspiring. but what would you expect lol. You vs. The bar no one else

TheThirdMan "Sometimes I can tell by the look on their face." Great point!--sometimes if they've given up, you can see it.

TheThirdMan maru
i am 4 and i jumped 1459 kilowatts is that good?
Mick Smith not funny
Very fantastic
@@miller10 it’s funny
Thats actually pretty bad, normal 4 year olds are usually in the 2 kilowatt range
That would mean that you jump with a force of 1.2 mega Newton's if you ran as fast as Usain bolt on top speed. Which is pretty decent
it must be odd training with your future opponent
+Jay Gatsby Definitely odd, but it would push you to be your best in training as well!
I have spent months researching into ways to jump higher and found a great website at Enyeto Jump Plan (google it if you're interested)
Well it's more of a competition with yourself because before u can worry about your opponent you yourself have to beat your own record
It's way more awkward in running
If it's not a team sport, you're always training with your opponents.
I am 10 and I can jum 1.20. I am trying to improve my run up and this video helped me. Hopefully I can jump 1.30 by next year.
What you doing now
yo toby what do you jump now

Wish he could have trained me 30 years ago
Me too.🥇
I'm with you, age 45 woman with PR 5'11.
Sir i have a doubt we need use our power leg for jump right
How you produce a lot of force to approach the bar
by speed into the curve
Force is power.. and power= strength+speed. Hope this help
With scissor cut i jump 1.70 m if i changed my technique mean fork furi flob can i increase my jump by changing technqic
if you can jump 1.70 with scissors you should be able to add 30 cm by doing the flosbery flop correctly
I basicly 1.60m scissor... And with flop i jump 1.90m... 🤔🤔
What’s your scissor pb now
Do they always jump in the same direction or do some people practice approaches from both sides to balance stress on the legs?
Always the same side because you wanna always jump off your dominant leg
I took the less common left sided approach. It's hard to jump off your less dominant leg! I dont know a single person who could jump well off either leg but it would be so cool to witness it.
I’m in 8th grade and just starting, Ive gotten to 5’10 and my best in a real meet is 5’9 is that good?

TroyBoi101 If u can jump 6’2 in the 7th grade you’d be in the junior Olympics
Dude are u for real? My schools record for an 8th grader is 5'4! That's impossible. Maybe you mean 4'2 because 4'0 is qualifying height for IPAC
@@nayderdabigfatgator1842 ur school is trash then 😂😂😂

Standing High Jump Excellent Training Strategy!

I'm a twelve year old girl and my pb is 1.25 m
That's pretty good because for girls at my school, they have to jump like 1.15 m or 3'8 feet
nic
Hip touch hota hai to kya kre
i actually scissored 1057 volts in the 13th grade and everyone clapped
Im not even a fetus yet and I can just 3.49m
Most of the best players approchs the run way in right side .why not in left side
It’s just depends on what foot your better at jumping off of and what you drive better with
last year,im 12 years old and I only get to jump until 1.23 m
i'm 13 and i can jump over 155 cm, is that good?
