This project has been on my list forever. I’m a giant Airwolf fan and own quite a bit of memorabilia. I have fond memories of building the old AMT kit as a kid as well. I even built one as a relief when I lost some pieces.
😁Same here. As a youngster, I was so excited that the AMT model kit was available here in Germany. Then, as an adult, I saw the more detailed Aoshima Airwolf and bought it some years ago. Still not build it.😁
U waffle as much as u like, this is 1 model every1 over here across the pond is calling 2 be released as a partwork buildup model, another good show m8
I have a pretty large collection of the MaK3000 kits. Actually started with the old Nitto SF3D range that was rebooted into the MaK3000 series. Presently building the Hasegawa Lunardiver Stingray which, unfortunately, was 1/35 not 1/20 but I guess it would have been too large and expensive to produce in the main 1/20 scale.
Here in the US, I'm having a hard time finding decent pilot figures. Currently seeking 1/72 scale WWII RAF pilots. Any suggestions anyone? I'm new at this. Any advice would help.
It really sucks to have that much great detail put into a kit but you'll never see it.. It's disappointing to know that we're paying for a kit and 30% to 40% of it will never be seen again once it's closed up. 😥 Anyway , i have to say that you're doing a great job on your build.👍 Can't wait till the finish.
Have you ever tried using Coca Cola to remove plated parts? It's gentler on the plastic. I never asked what the purpose of the clear body was for with this kit...
Nope never heard of that. Someone said they use oven cleaner. The clear plastic body is absolutely useless other than using it as a paint mule…everyone I’ve seen build this always seems to wonder why it’s included.
@@seanerk5kt9 I know oven cleaner can be used to remove enamel paint, but I did not have luck with it when I tried it (LONG ago). The clear plastic seems too gimmicky. For space ships, it makes sense for lighting purposes, but not for a helicopter.
Following along. I used to watch the series too as a kid. Infact there were even movies that came out later on. Loved the chopper. Back then i used to think its an Apache but didn't know much about choppers then. Now I feel they should have used the Apache 😅. That would have been way cooler. The base you made is excellent. Very ingenious. As far as I think, that exterior transparent shell that you mentioned, could be the protective bulletproof shield for the helicopter. I believe Airwolf was invincible to rocket and missiles and small arms coz I remember there was one episode where they show two Phantom jets (enemy) attacking the Airwolf with missiles but the missiles cannot penetrate the shield and Airwolf ends up shooting down the Phantoms. So IMO it could be the protective shield. Do let us know what it actually is, once you figure out yourself.
awwww.. i had so high hopes for you would do what you usually do: Choose the very old and bad AMT kit😂 Sean, having nice kits is below you standard! Anyways, great video and great taste in kits (Airwolf). Lesson learned today: Tint you windows to avoid model-like look. Thanks!
I think the idea with the clear fuselage is you use one half, leave out half the interior and detail the other half. Not sure it's a good idea, but an idea, anyway...
This is going to have to come out of my stash, I recall building a kit of some description as a kid in the 80’s and brush painting it…likely a right mess! Keen to see what colour this gets painted as I understood it’s not technically pure black? I think it was some obscure blackish colour by DuPont 🤷🏻♂️

MK looks like an acquired taste?😳

Thanks for the tips tinted windows is hot
Classic! Looking forward to seeing this build out! 👍
Tail skid = Probe....Everytime you said probe I giggled. Not because it's really a tail skid (used to fly helicopters) but because PROOOBE...
Lol
Getting this very soon thanks for your amazing video 😊😊😊

I miss the Airwolf documentaries.
Thank you for your great video. It inspired me to work on my Aoshima Aiwolf model kit.
I use oven cleaner to remove the plating, takes between 10-15 minutes
This stuff I got from Dollar general called Awesome works awesome
Can you tell me the length size of the helicopter fuselage?
This is so weird, im about two weeks into building mine from buying it out of the blue! looking forward to seeing what you do with this one :)
Alaska has a lot of waffles.
Bro you are awesome.

I think the clear fuselage is for hand painting.... You paint it from the inside so you get a nice consistent gloss finish on the outside
It’s not glossy in the outside. There are posts on the inside in which to glue the cockpit and stuff in that would show thru.
