If you get an opportunity to compare the 10mm head-to-head against a broken in gearbox PPE, would really love your opinion on that! I'm using the latter and loving it but looking for something even more poppy and explosive that I can try to tame 😂 I have no issues with a tiny sweet spot
I’ve hit with it briefly at some events, but the samples I have received are in the Invikta shape. However, in those times hitting the epic the feel is the same off the face. It’s a better power air. The sweet spot is slightly better due to it being wide body, but it still is not as big as most thermoformed paddles.
I played with the power air and then switched to the 006. The 006 sweet spot is much better. I’m eager to try the 007 and see if it fills a gap between the power air and 006. Has anyone here played both 007 and 006?
@@CleverCarson I have played all 3. The 007 is basically a better power air. Sweet spot is the same as the power air. Plays very different than the 006.
@@CleverCarson the thrive Azul, Joola Mod TA 15, and the unreleased Proton series 3. The 10 mm hits much harder than the 14 mm but the 14 mm has a slightly better sweet spot
@@JJPickleballGreat review though, I like how someone who actually used the Power Air for awhile gave their feedback vs people who mainly play widebodies.
Yes loved my power air for a long time. I do think there are better options out on the market nowadays, but if that paddle is still your main then this paddle will feel very familiar with increased performance and hopefully durability like they are claiming.
I’ve been using the power air for the past two years and really like it. I’m due for an upgrade. Should I upgrade to the 007? Or am I missing out with these new gen 3 paddles. I’ve been playing over 7 years and have only played with Selkirk paddles. I wouldn’t mind switching to another company. Do you suggest any paddles coming from the power air?
Almost any gen 2 or gen 3 paddle will have a significantly better sweet spot. I loved Selkirk paddles, but once you switch it’s hard to go back. The 007 is a good upgrade but at a big price point. I would say look at the paddleteks or the gen 3s. Honestly if you could demo some paddles that is always best.
@ thanks for your response! I think playing with the power air made me a better player. It taught be to have soft hands at the net and resets since it has a board like feel. I come from a badminton background so I’m used to high end racquets having smaller sweet spots. I actually don’t mind the sweet spot on the power air after adding led tape. I would love to demo other paddles but unfortunately I live in Canada and that’s not an option.
@@stroshow5check Pickleball centrals return policy for Canada. I know they allow 30 day returns and you don’t get a refund per se but they allow you to get store credit back to get another paddle. A paddle that I actually really enjoyed and I think played similar but had a better sweet spot, good power, and was carbon fiber is the diadem edge 18k. Just for another paddle to look at.
I somewhat agree with this, but with some push back. I come from a golf background and there’s always a small adjustment period because the look and feel of something new is always going to be slightly different, and if you are dialed into your old equipment anything new will feel slightly different. Also, most people may not be playing with the best shape for them or best paddle. Theres no true paddle fitting like there is in golf. Now where I do agree is if it’s a big change then the paddle is most definitely not for you.
@ yep! Don’t get me wrong, I am positive this is a great paddle of great quality, like all their products, I just think the market has changed, it is not 2023 anymore…
@@andresdavila4500my only counter argument would be gearbox and Joola at 280 have some quite well and proton makes a living at 280-300. Last one is the Ronbus ripple reselling for 400+ on eBay and retailing for 250. However I still agree with you but high end paddles definitely are still selling well when done right. The 007 just isn’t in that category of paddles with performance in my opinion.
Hundreds of dollars for a small sweet spot? …too many great paddles being released this year. If you can work with the sweet spot, why would you want to use this paddle? Longer lasting spray on grit just doesn’t seem like a great trade off for the lesser control it offers.
Great take. Only argument I would could have for the small sweet spot is blades vs cavity backs in golf. However, different sport and the ball is always moving. Completely agree with you.
@ I am trying out a paddle right now (pickleball apes pulse) and I will likely trade it in for the Pulse V and its wide body. The more I play the game and improve (and then play better players) having a wider sweet spot and nice pop are key. I found with elongated paddles I am winding up and playing more like a tennis player, which is not as effective in PB.
@@dkipu266 Wide body paddles are a great option. A bunch of the reviewers favor them. I’ve enjoyed my time with paddles like the R2 and the Mach 2, but personally I like a high sweet spot on a paddle so it just has never felt fully comfortable to me. I love to hear you are enjoying the Pulse line! I’ll have a review out on them shortly. Great paddles!

Will you test / try the wide body version?

Is that Horizon Park?
Yes it is!
The case looks great. I'll stick with my GB PRO PWR E.

Ordered a 14mm invikta on the 29th. Still says “order received”. Still hasn’t shipped and website says “Sold Out” now.
Hopefully you will get yours soon!

When B&B and other brands make amazing innovative paddles for around $200 or less it makes ANY $300 paddle irrelevant…
Definitely has a small and very targeted audience

It's a Power Air 2.0 with longer lasting spray grit & titanium. What an absolute let down. 🙂↔️
Basically. The new grit is really the only positive, and we will have to wait and see if that holds up.
