Some good games do have ugly protagonists though. Like Red Dead 1, John is pretty ugly. GTA 4 Nico isn't very pretty either. I guess that's more of an opinion, but yeah they're ugly in my book.

Because frequently there is a common trend to create a female character but use a male frame for them in game. it´s basically laziness and no short amount hatred/envy towards beauty

If customers don't pay, companies go belly up (that's what happened with games like Forspoken). Doesn't matter how much effort the devs put into the game, if it's not what the customers want, it won't sell well. Though sometimes devs are screwed over by the companies they work for, which is how we got stuff like the pre-release leaks of the stories of TLOU2 and SSKTJL from game devs frustrated with the product they were forced to make. But ultimately, it's really the customer who gets the last say.
That might not be the case anymore, with the rise of "investors", the "investors" have become the customers who they make game for. Us peasants are an afterthought.

Major characters in games, especially games that focus on story, should look the way they do for well-thought-out, in-universe reasons. Since many game protagonists are fit young adults, it makes sense for them to also be above average in looks.
Tip for ready or not: Theres an option in the settings to make it so the game highlights weapons on the ground. I think its under the accessibility tab. Its cool to have on to make gathering them quicker during and after the mission for a better grade
the only people who don't like seeing something pleasant are people filled with hatred and jealousy. these are the same people who are saying that they are spreading love and positivity.
In order to attract new blood/ new players and enlarge their profit margins, one does *not* alienate their old and dedicated fanbase. How many people complaining about the characters actually *play* the game? I'd love to see just how many new subscribers signed up after they implemented these changes.
It's true that not every character needs to be beautiful and attractive, but at the same time people should not be demonized for wanting attractive characters in our media nor should existing characters be uglified for the sake of "modern audiences". These companies need to realize that beautiful aesthetics, great story telling and gameplay win the hearts of the majority of their consumers and don't appreciate being insulted or having agendas being shoved into their faces.

Major characters in games, especially games that focus on story, should look the way they do for well-thought-out, in-universe reasons. Since many game protagonists are fit young adults, it makes sense for them to also be above average in looks.

Tip for ready or not: Theres an option in the settings to make it so the game highlights weapons on the ground. I think its under the accessibility tab. Its cool to have on to make gathering them quicker during and after the mission for a better grade

It's true that not every character needs to be beautiful and attractive, but at the same time people should not be demonized for wanting attractive characters in our media nor should existing characters be uglified for the sake of "modern audiences". These companies need to realize that beautiful aesthetics, great story telling and gameplay win the hearts of the majority of their consumers and don't appreciate being insulted or having agendas being shoved into their faces.
