So you're telling me that in one year we had ABBA and Olivia Newton-John on eurovision?! Amazing...
And so many others: Gigliola Cinquetti from Italy was quite famous in Europe, Marinella was the greatest Greek singer, Mouth and Macneal from Netherlands were also famous. Big honour and life experience for all the artists who participated in Esc that year.
@@viewerlife an epic year of music
Yeap. That's the thing about Eurovision... When you never thought, there's an Gloria
Celiné Dion too
@@rotta_rotta yes a Canadian representing Switzerland. Yes, Olivia Newton-John represented the UK but at least she was born in Cambridge though she became an Australian citizen after her family moved downunder from Britain.
REST IN PEACE OLIVIA!
Despite the fact at the time she was not a fan of this song she did her very best and she melts my heart in every possible way.
She looks just so sweet to be around.
RIP... to this beautiful person, lef us with so much to be happy about.
I am still Carried Away by beautiful Olivia ❤
RIP Olivia from a Eurovision fan 🙂❤️
Oh, she was lovely. Goodnight Olivia.
RIP Olivia Newton John.
Rip Dame olivia newton john.
I am a Eurovision fan. 1974 Strong year. This UK entry is a lovely Eurovision song with lovely lyrics and was a real contender for the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. I have loved this song since 9 years of age and it has been on my play list since 9 and I am now 56. No talent was ever wasted here.
I bet people can't wait to get invited to your parties with a playlist like that 🤣🤣do you find a lot of people suddenly coming down with the flu when you send invites?
@@davidfelix2594playlists are not for parties only
I cannot admit that Olivia Newton John left this world: she is a legend, an icon and such a person cannot leave.
just found out she has passed away…. i am so heartbroken i cant explain
Rip olivia.long live love for ever😥
Long Live Olivia 🇬🇧
Long live Olivia ❤
Long live Olivia
May she rest in peace.😢
Olivia Newton John For Ever And To Ever
'Long long live love' even seemed dated then, great singer, awful song; Still finished 4th though. Olivia Newton John popularity far outlived this song. The future Star of Grease finished up with No 1 songs to boot. However my personal favourite by ONJ came after this 'Xanadu'; Electric Light Orchestra providing the music on this magical song. However back to the contest in Brighton this night deservedly belonged to ABBA with 'Waterloo' winning Euro vision in 1974. Events lead to ABBA's successful pop music career with even greater success and popularity with multiple top ten hits and No 1 singles in 1970's and early 80's including favourites: 'Fernando', 'Dancing Queen' & 'The Winner Takes it all' etc.
Olivia had her First hit in USA, Banks of Ohio, 1971.
Rest in peace! ❤️
RIP Olivia

Fantastic singer❤
one of the best from all time
RIP lady

RIP ONJ
I love how no one ever mentions the fact this is singing about the Salvo’s haha. Such a random song for Eurovision, but a lovely little song about Christian faith and love. (I am not religious) I do however love Olivia :)
beautiful lass RIP
love her voice
Quelle belle prestation !
god, this song. no wonder even olivia herself hated it. and in the year of abba? she is too good for this shit.
The time I fell in love with Olivia
love her.
It's extra remarkable considering Newton-John didn't like the song herself at all. "Once a week you sing on TV...and people would write in and vote for the one they wanted. So the people voted this one," Songfacts quotes the singer as saying. "I wanted this other song called 'Angel Eyes' to win, that I loved, it was such a beautiful song, anyway, it didn't win. So then I had to go sing it for the country, not liking it, which wasn't easy.
this song had a huge influence on the kids' tv show "barney."
Now Dame Olivia Newton-John in 2020
Yes, rest in peace Dame Olivia
Descanse en Paz 🙏
In those times the UK knew to send å good ESC entry.
then why didn't they?
@@joaovitormatos8147 They did and won the contest 5 times
r.i.p
A lovely song which speaks greatly of the Christian faith, including the Holy Spirit. I have loved it since the age of eight. Great song.
Olivia wearing a paternity dress looking gorgeous and singing great ❤
*Maternity. She looked great in sound check and then they put her in that tent...
I see Margaret Stredder back there in her trademark spectacles.
Long way from "Physical "
No wonder aBBa blow this song out of the stage.
But looking and listening today this song, i like it more than more than most of todays songs.
Definitely worth one.
She would’ve had a better chance if she sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Just kidding. I actually like the song. Just not for competition.
Terrificante
I actually liked this song, but talent was wasted here.
Olivia, classic Aussie babe!
I'll always be in love with you livvy xx
La mujer más bonita del mundo ❤️
оливия красотка и поёт красиво
Always loved Olivia, still have all her albums. Isn't that the 'Ladybirds' backing her ?
Yep, the Ladybirds +2
1:29 I always wondered where John Lennon disppeared to around 1974.
Shout out to The Ladybirds + 2 backing up.
Bless Olivia, and RIP, but WHAT A DREADFUL FKN SONG.
abbas eurovision, gigliola cinquetti, should have won it by miles, poor olivia, stuck with a song she didn't like, at least then eurovision was fair,
When it still had class
D.E.P. siempre te recordaremos
Love did live long.
greace?
guillermo mendoza Yup
weak song, but beautiful singer.
Olivia Newton-John quite understandably hated this song - seriously, they couldn't find a better song for her to sing than this one? I believe "Angel Eyes" was her favorite in the national final. Apparently, a fan wished her luck outside the Dome on Eurovision day, and she told them that she would certainly need it, with a song so rotten. You can't pull the wool over her eyes. XD
That's just your opinion. Many, including me, think it's a great song!
I quite like this a song ever since I first heard it in the Eurovision when I was just 10 years old and I still do after all these years later. The British public obviously loved it as it won by a mile during the UK heat. The Eurovision judged liked it enough to place it to a joint 4th place in the final. It was reported that of all 6 songs she sang for the British TV audience to choose as their national entry, she liked the song called Angel Eyes but that was the only song that I don’t care for out of all 6 songs. We all have our different taste in music.
escpat Have Love Will Travel was my favourite of A Song For Europe but fourth was always going to be the best we could hope for at that year’s Eurovision, given the very strong top 3.
@@whyayetv I also like "Have love will travel" a lot and "Angel eyes", but "Long live love" was my favourite at ESC 1974. It was a great year for Eurovision - so many famous artists and catchy song.
Was Angel eyes an Abba song in the end?
Descanse en paz
The ladybirds are backing her!🥰🐞🐞🐞
House singers for TOTP
These are like fabulous early 70s prom dresses.
I'm so confused by these lyrics. This seems to be about a Salvation Army Band? Why? At least Livvy really goes for it.
the nightie suits her
Oh dear! She was much better in Grease...
מקום שני באירוויזיון 1974
מרון וורמן מקום שני היתה איטליה
מקום רביעי
OK ...but then came ABBA...
I hated this song as well... so did Olivia. And to think the second place choice, "Angeleyes" was 20 times the song this was. Why did the British public love these cutesy-wutesy, carnival music songs? They're like modern versions of "The Good Ship Lollipop"
Oh dear Olivia, bad song and WHAT the hell is she wearing!. But true talent and beauty shined thru eventually.
That prairie girl style was big at the time, Karen Carpenter wore similar fare.
It is like one of those negligees you invite the milkman in with with a dash of Laura Ashley.....
terribly unleavened, it is hard to believe from today's point of view that it could have liked.
And these outfits ...
Another shocking incident of 1974 Eurovision song contest
I love Olivia but this song has some weird ass lyrics! Do people realise how happy-clappy Christian Salvation Army it is?!
Qué cosa más fea todo. No recuerdo después pero en ese momento ONJ cantaba (una canción horrible y de como cuarenta años antes) con la p... nariz.
Mainstream
Good God the chorus is horrific
Turgid song with the most prosaic, stupid words (“Love is to care”). Poor ONJ.
Is prosaic another word for rubbish
This seems like a terrible song for Eurovision. It's definitely a B track song on an album, poor lyrics. She was SO much better than it!
She would never have this on an album lol.
Shit
Long Live Olivia
