1974 was possibly the best Eurovision song contest
1974, 1969 and 1998 were the best Eurovision
yes it was
1972--- Vicky Leandros....
1973 was the best, actually. :-)
Yes. Music was actually...music.
truly this was the golden years of eurovision !
100% SPOT ON!
Joseph Finnegan yes Joseph i miss that decade, okey i was bullied most of the time. And if someone try it today, i can be very dangerous becouse my existence life is so damaged, but much love is a very very good medicine.
One of the best songs in Eurovision, ever! Catchy melody, good lyrics. If ABBA hadn't been in the same competition, it might have won. I remember it being played a lot on the radio later , so it was a big hit even if it didn't win.
A top 10 UK chart finish too. Very rare for a non UK song at the time, especially a non winning song
Better than ABBA. LOL but true.
@@jayluvonde9551ABBA are ovrerrated. Espcially that terribly Waterloo…
@@dimitriheemskerk8645 Ain't gonna lie. I do kinda like ABBA. As a kid, I always thought Waterloo was about a toilet. But yes, people tend to think they were the gold standard of European pop. Fun, yes. Overrated, definitely.
@@jayluvonde9551 Thank goodness! I wasn't the only kid to initially think waterloo was about lavatories 😂
Very nice and originally song, but in this year was winning one legendarry song Waterloo from the ABBA group!
The following year - 1975 - hairdressers were invented. Thank God.
Nice song!
I never get fed up with this song l so wanted it to win the Eurovision..
Any other year this could have won brilliant song
i really wanted this to win the eurovision - couldnt believe it when waterloo won although i always loved abba too - i bought the record of i see a star
Oh please , ABBA anyday
ABBA was the winner ! They had the best song and they are still going strong ! This song is nothing against ABBA .
It is a very good song, just had bad luck to be in the same competition as ABBA. :-)
This was only FORTY EIGHT years ago!! 😲😲😲😲😲
What a fun song, I love it
This is such a good song!
I loved this song then , and I love it now ❤❤❤❤
Loved this song. X
Great song
Sensational
superbe chanson bravo
1:22 😍
I love ❤
The best ESC ever . Sevens songs would have won,!!!
1973 isn't far behind it, really just as good. The overall quality of ESC songs back then was insanely good.
This song helped me trough a long hospalitation.
Ich liebe die beiden !❤
Good song. From Denmark
Netherlands
@@gjvdplas9508yes but i am from denmark
Thank you I'm Irish , we loved Emily de Forrest
What a great, fun song. Came 2nd to Abba
Nope. It came third behind Italy's beauty Gigliola Cinquetti.
Too bad abba was there as well. Can we just say: netherlands second?
Originally, France was the favorite to win but withdrew. So, basically the result was going to be France, 1st place, Sweden 2nd place and Italy 3rd place.
Third, Italy came second.
@@omarmartinezcabrera5159 I'm pretty sure Netherlands was favourite after France withdrew.MacNeill looks overconfident. Not surprised ABBA won-despite singing first.
⭐👀😊
I am guessing a rythem track (to replicate the barrel organ sounds) was used on this with the strings and brass playing along with it?
According to the biography of arranger Piet Souer the organ was on the rhythm track, yes. In addition to strings and brass there were also some flute, piccolo and xylophone in this (live) orchestration.
Thanks for the additional info. Really like your website.
great song .... but was it as good as Waterloo ?
No, I'm from Sweden and loved this song, but ABBA was a bit better
No where near as good as Waterloo
This song is great, but I feel that it wad nowhere near Waterloo.
2 place
This is a good song but ABBA was the winner and they deserved it.
I remember this so well and I was only four. I like this better than Waterloo.
reminds me of auf weidesehen pet :)
Should have had Thijs van Leer and Jan Akkerman of Focus, performing Hocus Pocus at 100mph, then the Netherlands would have won it!
🤔😥
Loved the song but it wasn't quite as good as Waterloo .
Live ?
Yes.
No
100%
Nope..... 1:02 is your proof.......he stopped " singing " and still .....you hear him " singing " 😂😂😂😂😂 its a scam😂😂
Holland has good music by spoils everything with creepy puppet type figures always accompanied with an organ. Same as 2010 entry leave your bloody puppets and organs at home then you will win more contests. They just creep people out.
Man, nothing - n o t h i n g - is as creepy as the ESC these days...!
What about that lady with the full beard ? That ladyboy ????
I'm from the Netherlands.... And I tell you I'm not proud of that fact when I hear this garbage.....
Dan heb je geen smaak
Guess you're too young........😘😁
I hear ya. My husband comments using my login. I watched this just now, and EEK! What the heck is that organ grinder thing doing there???? Hysterical, it's so bad. LOL
@@clareomalley5644 Too young, I guess. To get the '70s spirit, you had to be there. lol
Je hebt gelijk 😂😂 Dinge dong was beter
